This Weeks Flight on 13th January 2021 concludes a series of flights following the inland waterways from Saint Lawrence River thru to Lake Ontario, Lake Erie, Lake Huron and Lake Superior. This flight commences at Sault Ste Marie (CYAM) on the Canadian side of Lake Huron and continues to Thunder Bay (CYQT). The flight can be flown either along the Canadian side of Lake Superior or alternatively along the USA side of Lake Superior. Either route will take approx 90 minutes and if this is too long for some can be concluded at Houghton (KCMX) using the USA route. Both plans will fly over the “resting” place of the famous “SS Edmund Fitzgerald” however unless you are flying at 530ft below the surface of the lake there is nothing to see. Two flight plans have been provided in need “Canada” route or “USA” route. This Weeks Flight on 6th January 2021 is our first flight for 2021 (Happy New Year to all) and continues a series of flights following the inland waterways from Saint Lawrence River thru to Lake Ontario, Lake Erie, Lake Huron and Lake Superior. This flight commences at Wiarton (CYVV) on the Canadian side of Lake Huron and continues on the Canadian side to Sault Ste Marie (CYAM) at the southern end of Lake Superior where the Soo Locks are situated enabling ships up to 72,000 tonne to enter Lake Superior. It is of interest (to me anyway) to note that the flow of water is from West to East so we are flying against the tide so to speak.
