  1. Hi Alan,

Given you're experiencing this issue across more than one client, can you assist by providing an image of your radio stack when trying to connect to the frequency? What aircraft are you using? What developer?

The use of XSquawkBox requires the AFV Standalone Client which will get information from your simulator. If you are unable to hear/broadcast, it would suggest a breakdown in communication between your simulator and the software.

As I'm not an XPlane user, I'm not 100% sure but if you can provide the image above, I'm hoping we can find a solution.

To answer your questions. XP11 and Swift work on MACOS. Audio for VATSIM Standalone isn't compatible with MACOS and therefore, your only option is Swift.

Further, I believe the stable version of Swift isn't compatible natively with Audio for VATSIM. Try downloading the Alpha version for MACOS https://datastore.swift-project.org/page/publicartifacts.php

Not sure about the Model Sets but the documentation (Although difficult to read) should guide you through it. There are also a couple of youtube videos on Swift Model Matching. https://datastore.swift-project.org/page/

In terms of Windows, You should be able to use xPilot. This client has Audio for VATSIM Incorporated and you should be able to transmit and receive. If you are experiencing issues with this client on Windows, I would suspect something isn't occurring inside the simulator.

Let me know how you get along :)

  2. Welcome to the new and improved VATPAC Discord!

As I've mentioned over the past few months, we've been working hard on bringing back a new and improved Discord server to replace Teamspeak. This decision was made by the Board after conducting a trial, multiple polls and gathering community feedback. While we know Discord is a big change for some members, we'll be on hand to assist in the transition from Teamspeak.

Some of you may be asking, Why Discord? Well, Discord is a newer, modern and massively popular community voice platform. It's available on Windows, Mac, Android, iOS and Linux for free! You can use it for personal chats and calls with friends as well as using it to join the VATPAC server. It's regularly updated and has many other benefits compared with Teamspeak.

We've made it as easy and streamlined as possible to connect and gain permissions to the server through the use of our automated permissions system. If you are a visiting controller, you'll need to contact the Discord Administrator ([email protected]) after following the steps on the Discord Page to get your permissions allocated (VATNZ members will get permissions automatically). If you hold an administrative rating (I1,I3,SUP,ADM), we'll need to allocate some of your perms manually once you join the server but you'll still gain access.

The board recognises that there have been issues in the past with Discord so we've changed a couple of things to ensure a safer and fairer community voice service. All VATPAC Staff will no longer moderate the service. We have a team of dedicated Discord Moderators who are trained and given additional resources to combat any issues which may arise.

The other major change we've incorporated is a brand new Discord Policy. The policy dictates what is and isn't acceptable on the server. While we want to apply as much of a common sense approach as possible, it's important everyone understands the expectations of being a member of the server. You can view the Discord Policy here

    https://vats.im/au/dcpolicy

As I mentioned above, Discord is replacing Teamspeak and you will now notice Teamspeak has limited channels & access. During a one week transition, we'll leave the Teamspeak up with limited access to allow members who might not read the forums to discover the changes. After one week, the Teamspeak server will be closed.

    Sign me Up!

To get started, head on over to

    https://discord.vatpac.org

Follow the steps (in order) and you'll be able to connect!

If you have any issues or queries, you can contact the Discord Administrator (Director, Operations) via email at [email protected] or you can get in touch with myself.

We hope you enjoy the Discord server and the opportunities and features it brings!

  3. This looks awesome! Obviously, there is nothing stopping you from pursuing this project and I encourage you to do so. I just wanted to pass on that it's likely we'll phase out support for Euroscope when the new client that Jake's developing is live :)

  4. Hi Nathan,

From what I've gathered from my discussions with Ray and Alan, all incidents will be dealt with internally. If the Discord Administrator feels something should be raised with VATSIM, that will occur through Alan. This will ensure there is no double punishments. We would ask that as supervisors are not moderators of this service, they report any incidents through the normal member reporting system which can then be actioned by the Discord Administrator.

    Cheers

  5. Also, for those members who haven't logged into the VATPAC Core system before (Via the Events website or Discord.vatpac.org), we can't preallocate your staff permissions. We'll be able to do this once you're on the server :)

  6. Hi Everyone,

As you know, the Board has been committed to bringing back the Discord due to the overwhelming response favouring its use in the polls we've conducted, as well as the benefits of a newer, more frequently updated community voice platform. We're now now at a point where the server is almost ready for release and we want your assistance in testing it.

One big difference to the way the Discord will be moderated is that VATPAC Staff will no longer be moderators of the service. This decision was made based on previous issues we've had with regards to inconsistent policy application, adherence to policy and the availability of staff. There will be a new structure in place which has been coordinated with VATSIM Oceania to assist in the handling of cases of misbehaviour should they occur. The Director, Operations (Harrison Scott) will be responsible for the administration of Discord and overall handling of any issues. Any issues which cannot be resolved by the Discord Administrator can be referred or appealed to the Director, Division.

To combat the issues that have occurred previously, we've enlisted the use of automatic Discord Bots who will filter text, images, files and manage the permissions through the VATPAC Discord website.

We will now have dedicated Discord Moderators to moderate the Discord where the bots can't (voice and some text situations). These users are enlisted by the VATPAC Discord Administrator and will not necessarily be members of VATPAC Staff. A list of these members will be available via the VATPAC Discord website. If you're interested in becoming a Discord Moderator, please get in touch with Harrison. VATPAC Board members and the VATOCE Regional Director will hold the role of Discord Moderator.

Discord Moderators will also use a Discord Moderator Guide which has been produced by the team to give them more clarity on how to approach particular situations and breaches of the policy. It also details what actions the Discord Administrator will take.

The server is accessible so we'd appreciate you not sharing the link with other members until we officially launch. There are a small number of users already with permissions who have been assisting us with testing. You can head on over to https://discord.vatpac.org to get permissions and instructions on how to connect. If you have any problems, please post them below.

A copy of the new Discord Policy is available here http://vats.im/au/dcpolicy

To connect to the Discord, you need to do two things. You'll need to A) Join the Discord; B) Link your Discord account to VATPAC. This can all be completed at https://discord.vatpac.org

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask! :)

  7. The ATIS generator won't work at the moment I don't believe as the voice ATIS doesn't understand abbreviations. The best way to put up an ATIS at the moment is in plain text without abbreviations.

  8. 22 hours ago, Richard Quigley said:

Thank you Callum!  How did you come to deduce that? Question: Is the voice synthesizer a global thing or is there one in each area server?

    Hi Quigs,

It was an issue reported by the VATSIM I.T team on the Staff Discord. The synthesizer is a global component of the AFV system. I assume the ATIS's that were up prior to the system outage were still playing.

  9. Please join me in congratulating Joshua Micallef who has been awarded the Senior Controller rating by the VATPAC Board. Josh has been a committed member of the VATPAC controlling team for some years and has helped many students achieve their ratings while serving on the ATC Training Team.

Josh is very knowledgable not only in Australian ATC Procedures but also the procedures of several divisions and regions around the world. He continues to commit to the Division through his roles in ATC training and Events and I look forward to working with Josh for years to come.

    Congratulations again Josh! :D

  10. Cristian,

When I refer to the VATSIM Data Server, this is where the data is processed and the central location for membership data. It has no information on new AIRAC's and this has nothing to do with missing information. This regularly happens and the VATSIM team is continuing to investigate. As Josh said, usually changing to another server resolves it however, when you reported the issue, no servers were producing controller information.

This information is still available to pilots through their client.
