NEW START TIME DUE TO DAYLIGHT SAVINGS IN MOST STATES. This Weeks Flight for Wednesday 4th October 2023 is a flight in the mountains of Papua, Indonesia. It's been a while since we have been on a challenging flight such as this so be prepared for some tears and bruises lol The flight departs clockwise and returns to Wamena (WAJW) the largest airport in the region On “paper” the flight appears to be quite short (39min) however these are difficult and dangerous village strips many of which can really only be approached from one direction (suggested runways detailed hereunder) and will therefore require full stops and turn arounds. Some circuits may be necessary to allow for departing aircraft after full stops and turn arounds. Scenery: Due to the plethora of flight sim programs now in use scenery is at the discretion of each pilot. Aircraft: 120kias STOL i.e. PC6, C208, DHC6 or similar Comms: Tune Radio to 122.80MHz – Or as advised by ATC Flight Route: Details Preferred Runway Heading where known: Some airfields have different ICAO's depending on MSFS2020 or XP Airstrip Rwy Heading WAJW 150* or 330* depart either way depending on winds WW69/WAWZ 260* Must full stop turn around WT75/WAXL 270* Must full stop turn around WW70/WAXA 240* uphill or 060* downhill WT20/WAXD 030* Must full stop turn around WT37/WAXG 320* Must full stop turn around WT90/WAWC 280* uphill or 010* downhill WAJW 150* or 330* arrivals either way depending on winds Weather: Real time weather, fair weather if conditions are not suitable for VFR Flying.
