The upcoming airport in Sälen will be controlled remotely. This makes Scandinavian Mountain Airport the first airport in the world to be built without the air traffic controller.

I'm not sure I understood all of that, but, OK!

Greg,
It saves the .gz file wherever you want to save it.
You create the facility and the configuration profiles for it with the Facility Configuration interface. Then if you export the facility the app makes an .xml file and zips it up in a .gz file for you to save anywhere you like and import if you need to or to send to some one else.
The .xml file in the vATIS directory appears to contain all the configurations you've created. (Looking at mine)
I suppose you could create a .gz file for every facility you control. However, for the sake of consistency, this ought to be done by the Ops people to ensure the template is uniform across the FIR. Nevertheless, unless the bot wants to play nice the app is only another "nice if it worked" toy.
I've attached the two I've made. No guarantees they are 100% pusser! When you find your own save it before you import mine. Merry Christmas!

Maybe only thing that I can’t seem to work is the QNH units. I’ve posted on vATIS support, but not confident there is a way to convert units within the app.
I’m quite surprised we haven’t been using it widely before. The ability to add your CASA abbreviations into the contradictions makes it almost 100%.
Sean, it's sort of like the Aussie girls voice.
In the Facility Configuration, Configuration Tab tick the Use International Format.
Do you have a link to the CASA abbreviations?

You create a FACILITY and then configure profiles for that FACILITY.
The Facility Configuration builds a profile for that FACILITY. You can have a profile for each runway or combinations of runways and runways and approaches.
The configurator builds (I think) an xml file and then zips it up as a .gz under the facility name. You can then add or delete profiles from this file.
Here's a sample:
<?xml version="1.0"?>
<Facility xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" ID="YPAD" Name="Adelaide Int'l" UpdatedOn="2019-12-20T17:35:18.8222+10:30">

Haven't tested this at all yet.

It never was a fit with TAAATS I guess. And we probably assumed it only really worked with vERAM and the other US/EU set ups. Plus, until now Mr. Motherway's ATIS builder did yeoman service for us.
-
Thanks mate. I'm working through vATIS to see how closely it can be made to conform to the VATPAC MATS 2.1.2. So far it seems to me that it can come pretty close. It can certainly get all the important information in.

and then use a female Australian voice.
How did you do this?

I favour dragging young William Teale, as quietly as possibly down those well worn, slime and blood covered steps that lead to the VATPAC Operations Department's Document Maintenance Faciity.. More famiiarly and terrifying known by the acronym: VODDocMaFac.
There, he will be kept producing, at a relentless and unremitting pace, update after update after update.
I don't know why we keep loosing updaters. Perhaps it's the pizza and Fanta diet?
Anyway, iit's damnedhard to type on a tabldt in bed eating cheese spread out of the bottle !

I can see that I did know about this!
Please be tolerant, my meds sometimes take me away for a few days at a time.
They don't always put me back where I think I was!
Yes, we moved and I had a chemo session that week. Pretty much out of it.

VATSYS, an independent/standalone program that has nothing to do with Euroscope, or TAAATSmod, currently being developed recently went to beta.
This I did not know. Good News.

"I'm afraid I have some bad news. TAAATSMod is dead. The original code has vanished, never to see the light of day again. There will never be an update.
However, despair not! For all those application crashes over the years have not been in vain. Besides lurking here, in my spare time I have been developing a TAAATSMod replacement. It's more than a plugin. It's its own standalone client."
But note: Due to Jake's real life commitments the replacement (for Kirk's benefit) he's working on started in 2016.
At the current pace we'll likely be Euroscope users for some time to come.
Of course he could also pop it out of the box, fully fledged and ready to fly tomorrow
-
Why Kirk? I've been aware of that post since it was first posted.
I cried real tears when Jake told us that the original coding had vanished into electronic oblivion, never to be again be seen by human eyes.
I do know that he, Jake, has been working on a New and improved version. If Mr Cann can do a similar thing all well and good..
My "clunky" comment is by way of my own personal preferences . Parts of TAAATS/3.1 I like, others I do not. But that is not in any way to be laid at the feet of our designers as they are, as best they can, trying to replicate an existing system which has its own design problems.
I hopeJake and Darren both proceed productively . Maybe even collaborate. That might not be a bad thjng.
-
There is a known problem here. Which is to say that the problem is a known known. But neither the cause nor the solution are yet in evidence and as such are known unknowns.

-
Yes please! Hopefully it'll be less "clunky" than I found the 3.1 iteration to be.
I don't know at what stage the original author, Jake saw, has got to.
I believe he was working on a 3.2 version.

Looking good!
Was this emailed out to controllers in November?
If so, I missed it, but then, November was not a great month for me.
-
Thank you Callum! How did you come to deduce that? Question: Is the voice synthesizer a global thing or is there one in each area server?
-
Goodbye Tuppy. Thank you again for the help and encouragement you gave me in the early phases of my VATPAC controlling "career".

O=Outer Marker
M=Middle Marker
I=Inner MarkerThese indicate your distance from the runway threshold.
This link will give you a very basic explanation.
There should be an on/off switch for this function somewhere on your radio stack.

I would comment that it is would be much easier to readback quickly when there are two pilots on board as in RW. One concentrates on onboard stuff whilst the other can quickly jot down the instructions for a prompt readback.
Absolutely 100% unarguably correct Dan! But some can manage it. It is , however, a consummation devoutly to be wished for!
