Hello Everyone,
In order to ensure fairness during Panic Stations Adelaide, please see the below eligibility requirements for Pilot and Controller awards.
Pilots:
Eligibility Requirements- Must be the first aircraft to arrive (touch down) at or after the target arrival time (UTC);
- The winning aircraft must make a full stop landing on the active or designated runway at the target airport, having complied with the VATSIM Code of Conduct, Code of Regulations and User Agreement at all times during the event. Aircraft who conduct a go-around will not be considered the winner;
- Touch down times will be assessed based on the controller client display showing the aircraft to have arrived on the active runway, with an altitude equal to the airport elevation and a groundspeed suggesting that aircraft has landed;
- The pilot departed from an airport which was different from the target airport.

It is sad news that I have to announce to the membership body that @Brodie Thorburn has decided to leave the Events Department. Brodie has had an increase in his IRL commitments and no longer has time to commit to the VATPAC Division as a staff member.
Thank you for your time on the team Brodie! Best of luck with your future endeavors.

Welcome to the next rendition of one of VATPAC's most popular events, Slotmania. This time featuring Sydney Kingsford Smith as the host airport! Fly in or out of Sydney to a selection of destinations that the aerodrome provides services for along the infamous J-Curve as we put pilots and controllers alike to the test! Looking for a challenge? This event is for you!
Event Details:
Slotmania is designed to test both pilots and controllers as we try to keep to a tight schedule! With slots separated by minutes, our goal is to get pilots airborne at slot time and land at their touchdown times.Throughout this event, ATC will be tasked with keeping appropriate separations standards whilst pilots move around the TMA and ground, joining the arrival and departure streams. The challenge is to keep Sydney busy for the entire event! We can only do that with heaps and heaps of pilots!
Booking System:
To book your flight(s), please visit the booking site.
BOOK YOUR FLIGHTS HERE
Aircraft slots have been created to push pilots and controllers to the limit. One month prior to the event (08JUL21), slots will be opened for booking. Pilots may select more than one slot to book if their arrival or departure slot times do not overlap.
Once your slot(s) is booked, and flights are confirmed, you will receive a confirmation email. Please read over this to ensure the information is correct.Bookings will close two days before the event (06AUG21 @ 1000z), unless booked out before this date.
Important Pilot Information:
- Please ensure you log on at least 20 minutes prior to your slot time.
- Please ensure you are using your assigned route, these routes are based on real-world. If you cannot use your assigned route, please email [email protected] or converse with Delivery on the day.
- Please be courteous; if for some reason you miss your slot, we will endeavour to fit you in.
- If you decide to fly without a slot we will do our best to fit you in, however there may be lengthy delays.Routes:
Pilots with bookings will receive their route within the confirmation email.
We recommend the following routes between Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane for aircraft without a booking.YSSY-YMML: TESAT WOL H65 RAZZI Q29 ML
YMML-YSSY: ML DOSEL Y59 RIVET TESAT
YSSY-YBBN: TESAT ENTRA Y245 BANDA H185 BN
YBBN-YSSY: BN H91 CORKY H12 TESAT
Controllers:

Applications will remain open until three days before the event (5AUG21), after which the roster will be released and available for viewing.Non-Standard positions are denoted with an (*) beside the callsign and will only be opened if sufficient controller applications are received. Please see a member of the Board of Directors, or a C3 rated controller to be granted permission to open a non-standard position on the day.

Good Evening Everyone,
It is with a heavy heart that I announce to the membership body that @Trent Hopkinson has handed in his resignation to me today for his position of Events Coordinator within the Events Team. Trent has decided to step down due to his recent unavailability sparked by the recent COVID outbreak in Victoria. This marks the end of a 9 Year Events Staff role for Trent, who supersedes the entire Events Team by more than 7 years...
Appointed to the position of Deputy Director of Events on the 14 July 2014. Trent has seen the Events Department change significantly since his appointment. Going through a plethora of Directors and Staff Members alike. On the 29th July 2020, Trent hung up the Deputy Director role, residing as an Event Coordinator for the next year. Today marks the end of a chapter for the Events Team, with Trent serving the VATPAC community for 8 Years, 11 Months, and 21 Days (Or 3,278 Days). So my hat goes off to Trent for his efforts.
On behalf of the VATPAC Membership Body, Current and Past Events Directors, Event Coordinators and VATPAC Directors. I would like to thank you for the countless hours and energy you have put into the Events Team over the years.
Please thank Trent for his time within the Team when you see him next!

"I have had Daniel as my controller many times within the VATPAC region from him being a Ground and Tower controller to having his Solo Endorsement for APP. While observing Daniel I have noticed that;
- He is able to communicate to the pilot (me) and other aircraft within the Vicinity using appropriate instructions
- Maintain aircraft separation when departing and arrivals
- Respond within a reasonable amount of time
Daniel should feel happy for his service as a controller on the VATSIM Network and I hope to see him get higher ratings in the years to come. Well Done!"
Congratulations @Daniel Smyth
