  1. Folks, new version out by the end of November. Head out to the P3D website to have a look at some newly released screenshots.

This looks incredible. Wish it had come earlier, I would not have purchased some aircraft that will not migrate. Full DX11 and optimized for memory and GPU usage.

  2. COuld be rear brakes on...they did detect blown tire/s on take off...would be interesting to read if the damage was there on rotation. Would have been quite a bang....looks like YSSY got a bit more grooving on 34L as well...

  3. They do use 'ruwte"....whereas it is pronounced "roo-t" in Oz, NZ, UK, Asia and most of the world, although more and more people exposed to the American version and with some degree of self-prudity use the american version...:teeth:

  4. I think that's the first time that phrase has been used EVER! :D

Ex CB APP controller used to have a forum tag line:

"You are number 2 to a Twin Otter 4 miles ahead doing 45kts... Report going around"

Or an old one from BN app.... "TJZ, extend downwind, you are number 3, traffic Twin Otter your 11 oclock 7nm."

TJZ "Approach, did I hear right? We are a 737, you want me to follow a Twin Otter at 7nm?"

APP "TJZ, negative, I wouldn't do that to you, you are following a Shed, HE is folowing the Twin Otter".!

  5. I agree, too many features taking up valuable memory space with stuff you really do not need.

On the flip side, keep an eye out for the Majestic Pro version, shared cockpit is now working, they are concentrating on systems, this should be a keeper.

  6. Thanks Will for the quick response!

I did find the 'Legacy Mode' in the programs file and in my search around the web came across the following on the Avsim forums.

It is a 'How-To: FSCopilot + FSInn with Prepar3D' and the link is

    http://forum.avsim.net/topic/380397-how-to-fscopilot-fsinn-with-prepar3d/

If you go through the steps, this way you can forget about Legacy Mode. I may do one day, when time permits.

Lionel, I would not worry about that post, you already have the migrator tool, just run everything on legacy mode, it even eliminates the pmdg magnetic variation drift issue, and all your add ons work fine, bet it p3d or fsx native.

The best part is that in legacy mode other older fsx add ons work without modification, even some that are port overs from fs9

    All the best

  7. Hi Will & Kirke,

I have tried to install FSInn into p3d using the migration tool.

When I start up FSInn with the migrator tool on all I get is 'FS Version Unknown=100'.

I do this after P3D is up and running!

Would also like to know what is Legacy Mode?

Lionel, when you fire up the migrator tool, select "enable virtual fsx" and close the migrator tool. You will get a warning telling you virtual fsx is still active even if you are shutting down the migrator tool.

    Just hit ok.

Now if you go to your windows start menu, you will find an entry called "Prepar3d Legacy Mode", use this to start P3D.

What it does is, create a virtual installation of fsx inside the P3D folder so that programs that specifically look for fsx will find it (like fsinn).

Hope it helps, let me know if you need further assistance.

    Cheers

  8. Hi Everyone,

I am currently setting up Prepar3D and hope to have it ready for Panic Stations later in the month. However, as FSBuild has not upgraded to allow for Prepar3D flight planning, which program does anyone out there use for

    Prepar3D?

Lionel, I use fsbuild with P3D without a problem. Are you using the migrator tool?

  9. Hi Guys,

There's a little bit of discussion ongoing about P3D and it reminded me of a question I've had bouncing around in my very full head regarding it's usefulness as a training aid.

There is a bit of a sales pitch on their website about how the engine can be used as a training resource by creating scenarios that can be flown by student pilots to experience various circumstances. Has anyone here experimented with this feature or toyed around with making scenarios?

It fell swiftly in my too hard basket and never looked at it again.

  10. Heya Rob,

First, you know the official disclaimer...PMDG does not support or encourage the use of their aircraft in P3D, as a good american company, they are concerned for any commercial implications of use of an entertainment pack in a commercial engine (they dont mind someone breaking their own licensing by stating they are real world pilots using it for currency or refresher training but there you go).

As for how-to, you need to get the Estonia Migrator tool, it will be the best $10 odd bucks you will ever spend, then what you do is enable "Virtual FSX" in the migrator tool and leave it on forever.

Then you can install just about any FSX add on into P3D by simply using the installer that comes with the add on, be it an aircraft, scenery, etc and the migrator tool will ensure it gets installed properly in P3D.

Next time you fire up P3D, just use "Legacy Mode" which will appear in your P3D menu. Enjoy!

  11. Zach, If you want suggestions and good points, then the posts from Dave and Trent should be a good start.

11% of the world airspace is a lot of empty boring airspace to fly over, and I daresay most people dont have the time to do it.

At the moment we still see controllers departing the Milk Run between 8pm and 9pm when there is traffic still there and we have to go to Unicom.

You will find the similar philosophy applies to the more remote sectors unless there is a localised and well advertised activity.

We also see some of the Adelaide or WA events that hardly draw in much traffic.

Vatpac people are changing but the dynamics won't change. We still see the old faces coming in to rescue busy sectors when the controller leaves and there is still heavy traffic to control.

Vatpac people still have to work the next day or go to school or whatever and only have a few hours to fly in, so flying in 1 or 2% of vatsim airspace is more feasible most of the time.

  12. Still have not got P3D going but I have purchased FSGRW which is superior to ActiveSky 2012, well at least in my opinion.

However FSGRW does not give you an indication of the direction and speed of the wind in different layers as ASA2012 does.

Is there a site where I can find the different layers of wind on the web?

    Lionel,

Yes it does for your route. Same as AS2012, you need to submit a flight plan to FSGRW, then select the weather report link and you will see all your waypoints, winds and temps at all altitudes. The greatest thing is that unlike AS2012, it doesn't give you a global average of wind, you will actually find jet streams, fronts and all sorts of weather phenomena, without any damaging wind shifts or popping clouds.
