eh?? when did FSX become DCS?
With all the ongoing fixes, I'm debating whether to just hold off for now and wait.
Prepar3D is a training simulations package. Part of it is underwater environment and also weapons delivery.
The patch is due end of this week. The way it uses hardware os much better than FSX ever was. After the patch, it will be a whole new level again. Just make sure you have a good graphics card, unlike FSX, this program actually uses every inch of power from your card.

This is hilarious....
Olli from NLS has just posted some of the pictures used by "Genuine Simulations" promoting the NLS as their own work....one of the pics was taken by a real life A380 captain who is a beta tester...he put a sign on the MFD "Testing for Next Level Simulations A380"....Genuine simulations hijacked the picture as well and posted it as "their" A380...and obviously didnt see the sign on it...stay clear folks.

Patch should be out this week (fingers crossed). The Sim is working ok for me, there are lots of work arounds for the quirks, but it feels fantastic to have a developer behind the SIM who is actively fixing it.

Gents, a little while ago I posted an interview with Olli Braun in Avsim. Olli is the lead developer of the still-unfinished A380.

One of the last topics we discuss is the hijacking of their work by a mob calling themselves "Genuine Simulations". This so called company set up a Facebook page and they have been posting the NLS A380 screenshots as well as copying marketing material from PMDG. They have now advertised "their" A380 as being "finished" and selling it for $89.90.
this is a scam. The screenshots you see belong 100% to NLS, and NLS has not yet finished the product. They have been so brazen they have even published a screenshot of Olli holding the newly released DVD of the Air France A380 operations he purchased to ensure his A380 is as close to real world operations as possible.
The facebook page of Genuine Simulations is actively deleting all the warnings people post about the scam. Best defense is....don't waste your money, you will never see it back.

It has a few bugs at the moment, the first patch is due before the end of January, the stuff they have fixed looks fantastic. They even advise they have found the reason behind the microstutters in the FSX code, and have fixed for P3D2.1

I'm on the cusp of forking out US$60 for P3D v2 but thought I'd ask a few questions for those of you who do have it currently:
1. do the PMDG products work with P3D? My main addons are:
- PMDG (737,747, MD11, JS41)
- LevelD 767
- Orbx
- Carenado a/c
Will these work perfectly?
2. It seemed to me that users who had P3D v1.4 had to purchase v2.0 again...was this the case...and if so, will I have to purchase v3.0, etc etc?
3. does FSINN work correctly?
I know P3D is based on FSX (updated FSX with a diff name) so it should work..however not everything does from what I've read.

Hi Justin...
Prepar3D version 1.4 was basically an upgraded version of FSX.
Prepard3D version 2.0 is not. As simple as that...like Greg alluded to, it is a jump like FS9 to FSX was. Some of the sliders have the same name, but they work differently, they inject textures, autogen, etc in a different way. You have to start from ZERO, as the values for those sliders are different.
Specifically your questions:
1. do the PMDG products work with P3D? My main addons are:
- PMDG (737,747, MD11, JS41)
JS41 yes, MD11 yes but starting from Cold and Dark means throttles are unresponsive, 747 Dont know, 737 has issues with refresh rate of the FMC and some gauge problems so not recommend it. PMDG advised new P3D2 versions of the NGX, 777 and 747V2 would be out the first half of this year, so expect them late next year :teeth:.
- LevelD 767
Yes it works
- Orbx
Yes, they are providing updated installers for P3D2, but I installed all my ORBX stuff using the Estonia migrator and works fine.
- Carenado a/c
Dont use them but heard mixed reports.

Yes, they are different SIMs, if you purchase the version 2 of the sim, you get all the version 2 updates free. Up to you if you wish to update to version 3 or 4 of the sim, as they will all be different.

Yes it does, but you need the Estonia Migrator tool ($15 well spent, in my opinion)

Rob, one of our YM members is known as "The Fiddler"...he serviced his due to exactly the same problem, guided by a You Tube video.
He then fixed mine, and has never worked better. He pulls them apart and cleans the contacts, and in some cases he had to re-soldier the points, but he swears it was a really easy job.

What addons have you installed? If Legacy mode does not start, there is an add on requiring full P3D.

Lefteris kept his promise...an update on this wonderful bird....notice the working Terrain radar in the ND...and they are in discussions with HIFI regarding a working wx radar...they are also hinting at an A330 as the next step.
Either way, release is this year.

Yup, the icao_53 is a wonderful little tool but i have only ever got it to work with the WOAI aircraft. If you install them, run fsinn so it registers all the ai aircraft, then run the tool, it adds them with the correct airline codes into fsinn.
Alas, it doesnt work with My Traffic programs.

I dont use AI traffic, the only reason I got it was to use the aircraft models into FSINN, as it has a massive collection.
The process to get it done is akin to having root canal surgery with a blunt screwdriver, as you have to select manually every single repaint and assign to an airline ICAO code. but once it is done, it works beautifully...
My question is...if I need to reinstall FSINN or my sim at any stage, is there a way of saving all the setup I have just done???

Does using the migratory tool to create a virtual FSX mean you cannot install things to FSX with this mode enabled?
Simply disable migrator tool's virtual fsx if installing anything into fsx proper, then click "enable" again.

Today an Etihad A330 performed a high speed RTO at YBBN....left some good sized skid marks on the runway....the cause? Invalid Airspeed Data on Captains side. Aircraft came back out, was checked and released....
Back to the active, took off...and just passing 1000ft called "MAYDAY"....no airspeed indications.
Aircraft was vectored out over the bay and offered to dump fuel, and he advised he could not. The aircraft did not have the dump system option (it is an option not taken up by Etihad)
After 30 minutes of troubleshooting, aircraft was vectored back in, flying using ground speed readouts.
Landed with 6 hours worth of fuel still in the tanks, in the company of fire tenders and inspectors.
All ended well.

Relax Shannon, nobody is doing that. I have been through 4 off these things so I have earnt my cynicism of the system. In this case, hard to give benefit of the doubt when aircraft have been found allegedly dozens of hours past required maintenance, and past warnings have gone unheeded.
