  1. Next...

    Communications box..

    I assume: Vox Server = rw1.vatpac.org

What goes in the Vox Channel box??

Also, I seem to be connected OK, but don't seem to appear as an active sector in VatSpy. Which entry determines this? Communications box or VATSIM connect box?

EDIT: All fixed courtesy of James Larkin (online VRC) thanks very much James and Arjun/Sam. Looks like I'm pretty much good to go again.

Need to be up to speed soon as the taskmasters at WorldFlight will expect me to control as well as fly!

  2. Quick question,

Getting back into VRC after a long hiatus....

    Connecting to VATSIM...

"Connect to VATSIM" box.. first entry "callsign"...

tried a few alternatives here with no luck. The only entry it accepted was my VATSIM CID, even though it asks this further down?

    Is this correct?

    cheers

  3. That said there are common ones that can cause issues (in both worlds).

    - Nine, it's NINER, because it sounds like 5... it just does!

    - Five, as above it's FIFE, same reasons.

    - Affirmative, does not exists as a phrase, it's simply AFFIRM, because it alleviates confusion over bad comms with NEGATIVE... no -IVE means yes.

    - Standby... DOES NOT NEED A READ BACK... it means the controller (or pilot) needs to do something first! Just be paitent and wait.

Hear hear... could not agree more......

  4. Off topic...

RT exchange AY TWR mid 1980's, myself (AY TWR) and Gulfstream V (awaiting arrival of Mel Gibson (if memory serves..)

Me: "I guess you've arrived when you get to sit in the front of one of those"

Yank pilot: " Naw, you've arrived when you get to sit in the back of one of these!"

    ...nuff said...

    Prop - Ryan Baker - time 2032

I thought the rules stated landing strictly BEFORE 2030....

..not to denigrate the above guys acumen of course..

  6. Yo doggy...

Sure have... I've been meaning to contact Ainslie but life gets in the way... not to mention a motherboard failure... still recovering.

    I'm at ctripp(at)bigpond.net.au

    Love to hear from him.

    See you in November

  7. Gents, help please.....

    New computer... reinstalling stuff....

Last comp had Saitek yoke and throttle quad working perfectly (through FSUIPC) all custom commands.

New computer jobbie.. some forums (fora?) suggest NOT installing the Saitek install CD?

    Yes/No

I had the foresight to save some settings (esp FSUIPC.dll) prior to the new computer update.. viz all references to FSUIPC. Are all my previous Saitek settings saved in FSUIPC.dll? and can I just copy that back to FS Modules?

Seem to remember it was a pain in the **** to re-calibrate Saitek the way I wanted..

    cheers

  8. Don't blame me Spanno..... I'm not competing at the moment. Computer shat itself.... bit the bullet and re-installed with Windows7 64 bit. Bugger.... more problems than I can poke an appropriately adorned stick at... in process of reverting to WinXP.

Slowly rebuilding to where I was before..

    Should be online soon........

    cheers

  9. Thanks guys for all the replies. Yep, thats the trick... not very intuitive tho...

Not a problem now though, I'm migrating back to WinXP. Win7 is very good but I have a few probs with it....... can't network my printer to daughters laptop (BIG problem (apparently... according to her) also can't get a driver for my (expensive) scanner. Also eases probs with FS.

XP was good enough before, but a quick foray into Win7 didn't hurt (except in the hip pocket!)

    Progress aint always easy....

  10. OK, I may be a numpty.. but not to this extent. I can't activate VOZ 1.8 scenery.

Downloaded OK, installed OK, all files appear in.. ?/?/Addon Scenery..

Thats as far as I can get. Run FS9, Scenery Library, Add Area..... locate said VOZ folders... thats it.... nothing I can click, select etc will add these to the Library.

What am I doing wrong? I need a numpty click by click answer to activate these sceneries. Of course I tried all the appropriate "read me's"

Of note is that this is a clean install of FS9 but under new OS ..viz Windows7 (64bit) is this maybe the problem?

    cheers

  11. Thanks David,

Reckon I'll try VOZ again. Last time I had it installed 50% of the time FS wouldn't start. Turned out VOZ was the culprit so I dumped it.

New OS etc so I'll give it another crack.

  12. Lost most of my scenery (FS9) when computer died. Most of it backed up (I'm learning) but oddly not my BN or RK files. I've searched all the usual sites with no luck. (Avsim, Flightsim.com, Austscene (not working), Walhalla mine etc...) I was sure there used to be a sticky on the VATSIM forum but can't find that either.

    Any ideas gents?

    cheers

  13. mmm not when I left work it wasnt. The controller (FLOW in this case) still had to do a manual update (only because those precious enrouters didnt have time to drink coffee and do some work at the same time :P). Unless there has been a major mod in the past 10 months then I dont think Maestro does an auto undate for FF times.

Thanks Rob.... thats the way I remember it.. FLOW to update it...(our coffee drinking much more important than feeder fix times..) ( FLOWs bloody job anyway... mutter mutter)

Likewise, been off scene for some time but haven't heard of an auto Maestro automatic feeder fix update.... but as I said.... been away a while..

    cheers

    tuppy

  14. Yep not sure what you meant there Chris re who updates the feeder fix times.

As I said... very much a trial at the time. Really pleased they got it sorted. (As in who updated the times/estimates)

Was a really contentious issue at the time.

    cheers

  15. Chris' date=' was Maestro in full op before you left the ranks? I see Jake now has a ES Maestro under early development and it looks brilliant with an identical looking very real TAAATS user interface ... just dropping some sweet bread crumbs for you down the track ;).[/quote']

Yep, pretty much John. If memory serves it was still officially a "trial"

One major sticking point was who was responsible for updating the feeder fix times. Some said Enroute, some said Flow. NO CONTEST.... we (Sectors)had enough to do.. and that it was a FLOW responsibility to update the feeder fix times.... and of course it was... it eliminated the vaguaries of if and when each Sector did so (update that is). Part of their job I reckon.

Good to see Jake has a Maestro under development.... one problem will be as above... who updates the feeder fix times? I hope he keeps at it.... would be particularly useful during busy scheduled events.

Re TAAATSmod... yeah yeah nag nag.... I'll stick to my previous for the mo (Kingswood vs BMW) but things will change in the future...

    cheers

  16. It's a great piece of software and TAAATSmod is truly genius in functionality. You will never find anything like TAAATSmod for VRC.

Yes its a truly genius piece of software. But for me (at this stage) VRC gets me from A to B with no hassles. I'll drive the Kingswood, you drive the BMW. As I posted elsewhere I'm not a total lost cause.. I will persist with ES, but at my own pace in my own time.

BTW in case you're a latecomer... I'm well familiar with TAAATS, (RL ATC) so I know what I'm missing by sticking with VRC!!

    cheers

    tuppy

  17. Dont give up me just yet Jake.

The finished product is fantastic. If I'm honest I prob stuffed up the install/config process.

I will persist and have another go at getting it up and running.

    Thanks for the tips.

    cheers

    tuppy

PS thanks for not giving me a serious rip (unlike another persons post..) seriously, genius software. I'll get it done and hopefully will have something to contribute having used the RL TAAATS for so many years...
