Craig,
No sorry mate. Never had a spiking issue. Units are years old, never had that problem. Except one lever was a little fickle at times, not sending smooth values across the whole lever range.
Fixed by giving it a liberal squirt inside with aerosol electronic cleaner, used to get it from **** Smith, but also found a similar product at Autocheap (CRC Automotive Electronic Cleaner)
Aerosol alcohol I guess, cleans then evaporates, no residue..... fixed that prob.
Recalibrated/reassigned levers for aesthetic reasons! Quad now set as three separate throttles for the PMDG MD11. Through FSUIPC, now have yoke/throttles set differently for different acft. Four/three/two/single engine acft etc... Needed some expert help to do that though, but now have a more realistic set of controls
Edit: sorry about the ****, Forum does that automatically apparently, under the guise of bad language I guess!! but you know who I mean! Cheaper at Autocheap anyway.....

Wanted to buy ad :
Recently re-calibrated Saitek throttle quadrant and am looking for the suitably coloured/shaped lever heads to complement their new function. Lost the original spares (bought many many years ago!)
Anybody have spare lever heads they no longer require and are willing to part with for suitable coin of the realm?
Or.... know where I can source same.... Have emailed the usual Yoke suppliers but no replies to date.
thanks

A problem we encountered early on, was half the arrivals coming from Cairns being Unsequenced, not due to any fault of the controller, but the magnitude of aircraft on the ground at Brisbane calling for clearence, taxi, takeoff and departure. At one point, Keppel Centre was issuing 10 clearances, and trying to hand over aircraft to Armidale. The old "in the air gets priority over on the ground" could not be maintained due to the constant stream of communication to the controller from the ground in Brisbane. To Aidan's credit, he did a magnificent job with the amount of aircraft on his frequency, and trying to sequence aircraft in the air, and popping up everywhere! So my hoorah! to Aidan!
I second that. Being one of the gaggle attempting to depart BN, Aiden handled it all in a very calm and professional manner. Well done that man!
I also endorse Wills' remarks above, particularly reference Mach No. Appears many pilots (and some controllers) are not conversant with this facet of pilotage and/or control tool. Perhaps the training people could put together a tutorial or similar on this subject.... would be very useful methinks..

Does the ERSA have all the aerodrome charts including stars and ils?
For info.... These are freely avbl from the AirServices Australia site,
http://www.airservicesaustralia.com/aip/aip.asp
very valuable link for flying in Aus....
Hope this may help...

Arjun....... thanks, wilco
Don....... Form completed last night, will go ahead with the Moodle. Thanks

Gents,
I've applied to comlete the P1 pilot course. I assume I'll get some sort of feedback/acceptance on this. Also it seems I need Teamspeak, so I've d/l and installed this. Apparently a director must set my permissions? How do we make this happen?
-
Daryl/Don,
Thanks for the replies......
I'm in. Do I still need a referee to join the expedited stream?
-
Gents,
This question has prob been asked before......
I have searched the VATPAC and VASIM forums, with no satisfactory results.
What (briefly) are the pros and cons of obtaining a VATSIM Pilot rating? I've got over 10,000 hours on FS, over 2000 hrs logged online with VATSIM. Yes, I know, hours don't necessarily equate competency....but you all know me......
I assume it's not compulsory. Should I apply for a P1 rating?
-
Re prevous posts........
Vert sep shouldn't be a problem if averybody is on Standard QNH.
A question tho, reference was made to flying off-set. Now I should know the answer to this, but....... what is the accepted protocol? Do I offset to the left or right? If i get it wrong it sort of negates the purpose somewhat!
-
Gents,
I'm sure this has been asked before. I have searched the forums (VATSIM/VATPAC). I assume the P1 rating is not comulsory. Are there any ramifications to NOT doing the training and achieving the pilot rating?
Without banging my own drum, I'm pretty sure I don't need it, and without being rude don't particularly want to waste my time.
Take this in the spirit its meant please.
Pro's/Con's of the P1 rating? A link would suffice, can't find any info myself.
cheers

Likewise, legend. Still using FS9.... no reason to change.....
D/Load....Installed..... Flown. Very very nice. Appreciate your good work.

Glad to see a good turn-out. I'm quite keen on the Milk Run (in case you hadn't noticed!) Was looking forward to last night.
However, seeing as it was my birthday, Telstra, in their wisdom, gave me a present....... 24 HR Internet outage..... bummer. No sweat, watch some Foxtel....... nope, they gave me the same gift!
Quiet night in then.
cheers

Correct me if I am wrong, but isnt the DOW of a 744 usualy around 180t?
Saying that, you could ride it on the fumes after dumping a load of A1 over Tamworth (while doing a prayer that TWR doesn't change your order for landing) or rip the guts out of the a/c and get the weight down
The challenge is out there :thumbs::huh:
Thanks James, can't resist a challenge. Completed a (mostly) legal arrival into TW. DOW for a 744 is between 160 and 180t, depending on which info source you use.
And you are quite correct, needed to arrive on fumes, so any ATC delay...... hello Gimli glider! Also needed to reduce the tyre pressures a bit.
Soooo.. arrived with LdgWt 169400 kgs, ACN 19, subgrade C, rwy length OK (obviously!)
Was sure I could do it...... not so silly after all ;-)
cheers

Quite correct James... the challenge is out there... I'm up for it., Its tricky maths..... DOW/ZFW of the B744 is around 160-180 tonnes. To get into TW legally requires serious minimum fuel load/acft weight, any delays eg holding and/or delays would turn me into a Gimli glider!
Got it pretty close (see attached) some more tweaking reqd.... Need to get LWT below 160. This is of course pre-empting TW as the destination..
Not serious, but the fun is in the planning and the flying of a planned outcome.
maybe I will fly the B744 or maybe I wont!
cheers

Just wanted to make a point......... !!
if it's a regional airport i'll be in a Piper Cheyenne 400 LS
-
Exactly Jackson,
My point entirely. Couldn't put it myself better!
Still, prob won't fly the B744, just wanted to make the point.....
......or maybe I just might crack the B744 FOR the above reason.. hee hee!!
But seriously... will prob be the Cheyenne 400LS....

A B744 landing at Tamworth is just plain silly, but I guarantee you someone will try it.
Perhaps limit the event to prop aircraft only?
Tamworth has a PCN number of 19(12L/30R), Hobart has 63. Using these figures, a Q400 at MLW has a ACN of around 19.. Now you do the maths for a 747 and I think you will find its ACN will be around 50-60 for a normal range landing weight.. It's not always about length... although we have already broke the barrier of realism for this event in general, so don't see me as a wall for all the jet junkies that will want to fly inBeing a B744 afficionado ( no, really !), I reckon I COULD get into TW legally.... at LdgWt of 180,000kg I get an ACN of 19 (at CBR 13+) , might need to let some air out of the tyres tho, Rwy length is OK as well.
Will I have a crack?........ actually, no. If the destination is a regional I'll be in VH-CRT, a Piper Cheyenne 400LS.
Point being, I have a personal aversion to being to told what I can and can't fly. That being said I recognise the authority of the PS organisers to place restrictions on the event as they see fit, then it's up to me join in or otherwise.
I'm all for reality, but I doubt most FSimmers would understand about ACN/PCN, Twy width etc......
Just my 2 cents worth....

For the sake of everyone I would implore the organisers to announce one common time for all Panic Stations events and stick with it - We West Australians do it tough when you East Coasters are three hours ahead of us. Suggest 1030Z as the standard time.
Hear hear.... us Queenslanders have the same problem. Pick an UTC time and let everybody else adjust accordingly. Time is an issue for everybody but at the end of the day UTC is UTC and everybody knows where they stand. 1030 as a standard looks good to me.

OK, not a biggie.
Preamble: Purchased FSD Cheyenne 400LS (Great acft BTW) but on lots of routes, getting into it, get the dreaded "MS FS has encountered a problem and needs to to restart etc" blah blah...
Lots of interaction with FSD Forum with no result... no similar errors in the last 10 years with that acft. ..So prob not a prob with that acft.
So why am I getting that error at the same place every flight? (Not tried lots of flights, but happens regularly RK - BN, just south of TNG)
Tried all sorts of things.... but narrowed to (a) only happens with acft that have native (FS9) GPS and are (b) non-jet
Tried with VOZ activated and Un-VOZ-ed.... same deal.
Had same prob with Flight 1 C441 Conquest.............
Weird stuff... as I said not a biggie... but any ideas!!
Scenery boundary change issue maybe?
Any ideas??
Latest tests.....
Same flight.. RK - BN via TNG, Acft, PAY4,C441, PMDG B744
PAY4 and C441 both fail at 53nm run to TNG, B744 flies straight through.
I suspect VOZ scenery could be a problem, but have a problem accessing their Forums... any ideas there?
Followed the VOZ activations to the letter... but when I got to activate "VOZ AF2"... got error message "blah blah...scenery path already exists"
Is this significant?
At my wits end here..... love the PAY4 but cant complete a fligfht with her

Whoo Hoo!!
Looks bloody fantastic!. So many people looking for glass cockpit stuff, nice to see some of the retro a/c, you know, where you get to be a pilot.

Yep, some good stuff via Google and YouTube, and in my post I meant Supercheap Auto of course !!
Hope you get it fixed.
