yeah, Im super not keen on running windows if I can avoid it. What dependencies did you have for AFV to get it working temporarily?

Visual studio, c++ etc. Just normal microsoft dependencies. It's why most people are annoyed that AFV was not made in mind for MAC or Linux users.

  2. I could not get the AFV standalone to work on Manjaro.

I got it working temporarily, then an update broke it.

Had to jerryrig some dependencies onto it. It kinda worked.

Would recommend installing a VM with a small windows install, What I did on my laptop.

  3. Hi All. I have spent the last couple of days planning to cross the pond, GA style. It starts with a PA28R Arrow III, heading from KDCA to KACK. Then we go towards CYHZ from KACK. At CYHZ we pick up our new beautiful DA62. We then fly from CYHZ to CYYT with this beauty. Then, we head to the Infamous CYYR (Goose Bay) which is where most people start their transatlantic journey from. We then head to CYFB, Iqaluit which is where we will go through Customs and security, from there we continue towards BGSF, then to BGKK, then to BIEG which is located in Iceland. Then we make the last leg towards EGPC where we collect an old friends PA28R Arrow III, and head down towards EGLC. If anyone wishes to join me, the first leg will be departing Saturday, 9AM AEDT.

Routes are linked in the PDF below.

    Enjoy All!

Ive seen this happen occasionally when running two ES windows.

I'm aware of the euroscope proxy dropping packets between two windows, but that incident that I was running a singular window.

The Document Control section does say to post corrections in this forum, or send an email. I figured the forum here is more transparent and less likely to get lost in an inbox.

I also note that the document as a whole probably wants some attention. There are a few references to a non-existent appendix, and references to a VATPAC document which seems to no longer exist (Flow Control Procedures doc).

Apologies. This was left from the old local instructions, and something that I didn't notice when recreating it. @Harrison Scott @Peter Story

With the exciting development of FS 2020 and the extraordinary scenery that it promises to bring (see scenery update) FS2020 basically is aimed at "the serious flight simmer". As a regular VFR pilot I therefore propose to run regular tutorials on flying Cessna 172 & later the 182. The tutorials will be linked up tp Teamspeak where we go through airspace classification, flight planning, understanding VFR charts, radio calls in CTAF and controlled airspace, and fuel planning using performance charts. From basic flights where we will fly from one controlled aerodrome to another and eventually progressing to more complicated flights departing one controlled aerodrome and flying into another controlled aerodrome. Later on each pilot will be tested by me using teamviewer on their "check rides". If obviously there are too many participants i will seek the help of "qualified pilots". I intend to get as close to real world situations as possible. Prerequisites for the course will be FS2020, Australian VFR charts, & depending on whether Active sky will be linked to FS2020 or if FS2020 will have their own weather engine. Each participant will be given a syllabus at the beginning which will be followed rigorously each week. This course will require a lot of commitment so be prepared. Seeking numbers at the moment so if interested reply "I'm in"...btw do not participate if you are just bored because i will test you on previous material and if you have not put in the effort then i will kick you off the course. This is going to take a lot of work on my behalf so i don't want time wasters. But i guarantee you in the end  you will enjoy VFR flying . If students are then interested we will progress to IFR using basic navigation techniques.

I'm hoping that VATPAC will have a pilot training department, similar to other departments or vACCs.

I'm also looking forward to wednesday, fridays and sunday nights with this new sim!

An automatic ATIS is planned for airports, when ever some one plans a flight to or from that airport only.

Just looking at the multiple Facebook posts that were made by the VATSIM account, There was no indication of 25/7, but there were multiple ATIS online, and whilst AFV was in Beta testing, NZQN and Null Island ATIS were on 25/8 ;)

    Hi,

I have noticed the existence of automated 24/7 ATIS located about the VATSIM world. Notably Queenstown 126.40 and last Wednesday during the World Discovery event out of Rome Italy, there is an automated facility there.

How does an automated facility differ to manned ones and is VATPAC planning on implementing something similar at any VATPAC locations?

    Rusty.

Rusty, I believe 24/7 ATIS are planned for all airports.

I remember one of the main selling points where the 24/7 ATIS.

    Hi.

Just a query. I was observing the AFV viewer site and noticed what at first appeared to be an oddity. BN-TSN_FSS was listed in the panel of callsigns and frequencies as having 13.318. However my client clearly lists this as 128.600 as I am accustomed. I then realised what was being listed was the actual HF frequency. Would this be correct?

    Rusty

Rusty, it is. 128.600 is so that AFV can connect pilots to 13.318. this is because of no native hf implementation

So far I've bought the F1 King Air 200 which I absolutely love and the Carenado Caravan which I'm off to a bit of a slow start with.

P.S. I love the idea of the VATPAC events where everyone gets together and flies to Fiji or something. Can't wait to join in there!

Hey again! You could always fly Sydney to Canberra during monday evenings, and fly with the VFR chaps wednesday evenings, friday and sunday.

    Regards, Tristan.

Thanks Nicholas, that's really helpful. I'll log on this afternoon and have a little fly out of Darwin I reckon!

    Cheers

Welcome to VATPAC, If you want a first flight I recommend monday evenings, between sydney and melbourne. Normally there is full ATC. You can fly anywhere in between!

What planes do you have already?

  12. Hi Callum, I downloaded the latest standalone, and when I have installed it I can not launch it.

    image.thumb.png.48bdd396fda82332bf1a38520b4a24d0.png

I then launch it, click run as administrator, but nothing happens. It just does not appear at all. I checked in the task manager, and it is not there.

I've uninstalled it, reinstalled. Used old versions, new versions etc. To no avail, it does not launch.

To add, here is what I found in the debug.txt:

  13. Thanks for the update Nick!

I just hope that our 3rd world internet (in Australia) will be up to the job to get the maximum out of the game.

From what I have heard, there will be the ability to cache scenery, which might take a while with out internet. Kinda like how we use Ortho currently. Choose where you want the scenery to be the best, and have it download that area!!

    • Thanks 1
  14. Looks amazing!! I can't remember where but I saw a picture of Brisbane in FS2020. It looked amazing.

My only issue is my internet. Although, hoping that the scenery caching works well, I might actually be able to fly VFR in Sydney which seems exciting.
