  1. Hi John,

If the SELCAL code for the aircraft isn't in the cockpit for whatever reason, http://www.airframes.org/ seems to have the SELCAL code for virtually any IRL aircraft registration I search for. You will need to make an account to access the results.

For example, I search for Nancy Bird Walton (OQA) and this comes up:

egistration Manuf. Model Type c/n i/t Selcal ICAO24   Reg / Opr built test reg delivery prev.reg until next reg status
    VH-OQA Airbus A380-842 A388 14 L4J BQCH 7C4920   QFA [QF] Qantas 2008 F-WWSK 2008-09-20 F-WWSK     active edit
    Remarks:

named "Nancy-Bird Walton", damaged 2010-11-04 after engine failure, landed safely at Singapore, on repair until end of 2011.

    Hope this helps :D

Oh really? Have we ever tried cross over events on days? i.e a crossover spilt milk run, NZCH - NZAA or something, have vatpac and vatnz, and then another spmrm from SY-BN but have vatnz join?

Oh, we have definitely had cross-over events, but someone else will need to comment on how those played out.

  3. I think VATNZ tried a Wednesday night event, and I think that failed sadly. Although VATNZ as you can see with their SNO barely attracts that much traffic to events other than their core group, similar to the VFR nights here.

Also, please don't quote the entire post if it's stupid long, it makes it harder to read the thread on small screens. :)

I was even building something about a year and a half ago along these lines. Still have the code on my computer!

If you’re happy for me to keep going with that and incorporate into core, feel free to send me a line on Discord

  5. “Macos “ is just macOS/OS X poorly formatted, haha. I’m not sure about the file format issue, I’ll investigate and report back on that one. The crash to desktop: could be related to using the demo copy outside of the Seattle demo area?

  6. If you're ready to spend up to $900, that's a Nvida Geforce GTX 1070 at least right there. But, considering your CPU, that would be quite the unwise purchase. I would actually suggest building a new rig altogether, even better if you can save another $500 or so. My rig with a i7 7700K and GTX1060 costed around $1500. If you can only do $900, then a lower cost chip (Ryzen?) and a 1060 could do you wonders.

  7. Even if it is in the interest of absolute realism, this is VATSIM. Sadly we can't really simulate every single part of ATC in Australia. And regardless, if it were added (very likely as a non-standard), how many times would it even be activated? Even for a real-ops event like in Sydney a month or so ago, barely any VFR aircraft came.

I still don't really see the point of booking systems imho.

It'll just cause a fuss for people who want to control, but don't want to commit to times. Traffic could be low and I could log off early. Traffic could be high and I could stay on later until it clears. that could go into someone else booking, then we start arguing about me being on their spot when they've booked it.

Then you have the tools who jump on your spot 0.000000000001524ms before you've booked it, thus stopping you from logging on...

The first come, first served basis has always been fair :)

Agreed. I will still look into making a notification system where people can get a rough idea.

  9. Ortho in Australia (Bing maps) is excellent. There are good quality sceneries available for all capital city airports along with a lot of regional airports however the freeware quality obviously won't rival FlyTampa. Some people choose to convert scenery, which is probably against most EULAs so do so at your own risk.
