    6. CANCELLATION

This NOTAM Self Cancels at 0900z 05 NOVEMBER 2017.

  2. Thinking of incorporating Cathay Virtual with this and expanding with other airlines in the future. Have been advised that they are holding off on new airlines until they release the new version of vAMSYS. I can't wait to see what's in store :D

  3. http://pacificoceanic.vatsim.net/docs/Oceanic%20LOA%20rev1%20090710.pdf

Funny.... The agreement states all resources will be on the Pacific Oceanic partnership website. I don't understand how their document can supersede the agreement.

If they wish to have said conditions updated, It needs to be reviewed by all parties and incorporated into the document available to the public via the Pacific oceanic partnership website. It would also need to be approved by the Facility advisory board.

While I respect they may provide their local controllers with that information, we are simply going off what is in the agreement and the correct way to go about resolving this is to follow the process outlined in the original agreement.

  4. NOTAM 22OCT17 - WorldFlight 2017 Procedures in VATPAC Airspace

    1. INTRODUCTION

On Sunday 05NOV17 at approximately 0900 AEDT, WorldFlight will commence the annual around-the-world flight. The initial legs will transit through the following VATPAC airports; Sydney (YSSY), Brisbane (YBBN), Cairns (YBCS) and Port Moresby.

WorldFlight will re-enter VATPAC Airspace on Saturday 11NOV17 at approximately 0800 en route to Darwin (YPDN). They will also transit through Alice Springs (YBAS), Adelaide (YPAD), Melbourne (YMML) before arriving in Sydney (YSSY).

It is anticipated that significant traffic levels will be present along the routes to these locations. Past events have seen in excess of 200 aircraft on the first and final legs through Sydney.

This NOTAM will provide pilots with information about ATC requirements with regard to air traffic management. Pilots should endeavor to comply with these requirements to minimize delays and disruption.

    2. PRE-DEPARTURE CLEARANCES

ATC may elect to issue pre-departure clearance instead of a normal airways clearance. This is only available to pilots that have planned via the routes listed in section 3. When pre-departure clearances are in use, pilots will be notified by ATIS, for example:

"PDC AVBL. ACFT IN RECEIPT OF PDC TO MNTN 5000FT"

In order to reduce radio congestion, pilots of eligible aircraft shall contact Clearance Delivery by text only on frequency chat and request "PDC REQ" with the ATIS identifier. For Example: "PDC REQ with INFO A".

ATC will respond with one of the following:

"[CALLSIGN] [sID] [RWY] [sQUAWK]" (Example - "QFA123, ENTRA5 DEP, RWY 34L, SQUAWK 4444")

                                                  ^IF PDC AVAILABLE

    or

"[CALLSIGN], PDC NOT AVBL, CONTACT ME ON 133.800" (Example - "QFA123 PDC NOT AVBL, CONTACT ME ON 133.800")

                                                ^IF PDC NOT AVAILABLE

Please note that ATC will not actively be checking flight planned routes for conformance. Pilots must not use this procedure unless they have planned via an approved route. Failure to do so will result in the clearance being invalid and may result in significant delays.

ATC will require readback of the SID (Including runway and/or transition if issued) and transponder code as received from your PDC message. Your clearance read back should also include any other requirements and must state your current parking position/bay. You should read back on the Clearance Delivery Frequency prior to pushback.

An example of PDC readback is below:

PILOT: [AIRPORT] Delivery, [CALLSIGN] PDC Readback. (Example - "Sydney Delivery, QFA1 PDC Readback")

ATC: [CALLSIGN] [LOCATION] Delivery (Example - QFA1, Sydney Delivery)

PILOT: [CALLSIGN], [RUNWAY] [DEPARTURE] [sQUAWK] [GATE NUMBER] (Example - QFA1, RWY 34R ENTRA5 Departure, SQUAWK 3214, Bay 31

    ATC: [CALLSIGN]

Once you have completed this process, you can contact the appropriate ground frequency for further requests.

    3. APPROVED FLIGHT ROUTES FOR VATPAC AIRSPACE

The following routes are the approved routes for aircraft operating in VATPAC Airspace. Pilots can file alternative routes however they will be more likely to receive delays. These routes are the only approved PDC routes.

    (a) YSSY-YBBN: DCT ENTRA Y245 BANDA H185 BN DCT

    (b) YBBN-YBCS: DCT CORAL Q26 UPOLO DCT

    © YBCS-AYPY:  DCT CS R210 PY DCT

    (d) AYPY-WABB: DCT EMPRA B462 OSMON DCT OBASA DCT

    (e) WADD-YPDN: DCT GOMAT W33 KPG A458 KILIK UY85 CURLY UY91 DONYA DCT

    (f) YPDN-YBAS: DCT DN Y25 BEBUX UY83 GREGA J251 AS DCT

    (g) YBAS-YPAD:  DCT SARAH J251 OJJAY DCT

    (h) YPAD-YMML: DCT BENDO Y12 ARBEY DCT

    (i)  YMML-YSSY:  DCT DOSEL Y59 RIVET DCT

    4. SYDNEY CLEARANCE DELIVERY

Two clearance delivery frequencies will be in use at Sydney. To balance radio traffic and workload, it is essential that pilots use the correct frequency for their parking location.

Aircraft parked WEST of runway 16R/34L - use 133.800 MHz

Aircraft parked EAST of runway 16R/34L - use 127.600 MHz

    5. REPORTING "READY"

Pilots should not report "ready" to the tower controller until:

    (a) the aircrat is at or approaching the holding point for departure.

    (b) The aircraft is the first aircraft at the holding point.

© The aircraft is configured such that the pilot can taxi the aircraft onto the runway and take-off without delay.

    6. AIRCRAFT CLIMB AND DESCENT SPEEDS

After departure, pilots of jet aircraft are expected to utilize either a standard NADP1 or NADP2 climb profile. In any case, unless otherwise published in the allocated SID or advised by ATC, upon passing 3000FT above aerodrome level, pilots are expected to accelerate to 250KT or minimum clean speed (whichever is higher) without delay. Pilots should nofity ATC immediately if they expect to deviate from a normal climb profile.

On descent, pilots of Jet aircraft are expected to descend at Mach 0.78/280KT above 10,000FT AMSL. Pilots must comply with Standard Terminal Area Arrival Speeds (STAAS) listed on STAR charts unless an alternative clearance is issued by ATC. Pilots must notify ATC immediately if they are unable to comply with STARS or other speed restrictions issued by ATC.

    7. HOLDING FUEL

During legs within VATPAC administered airspace, ATC anticipate a maximum airborne delay of 1 hour. Pilots should carry sufficient holding fuel to absorb this delay.

    8. DISTRIBUTION

This NOTAM is issued by VATSIM Australia Pacific (VATPAC) and shall be distributed via:

    This NOTAM self-cancels at 12 NOVEMBER 17 2359 AEDT.

  5. Hi All,

Please join me in congratulating Nathan Noble on his appointment as Deputy Director, Major Events. Nathan has been a member of VATSIM for several years and has been regularly involved in events. He joined the Events department earlier this year and has invested significant time in ensuring Spinoff Saturday's success.

Nathan will bring fantastic knowledge and experience and is a fantastic fit for the role.

  6. Hi All,

It's been some time since we last held Panic Stations. In fact, more than a year! We couldn't let this go on any longer so, it's back! Panic Stations will be held in Adelaide offering a large variety of routes, aircraft and if necessary, holding ;)

With Panic Stations returning, So has the website. All of the event information including ATC Applications is available at the Panic Stations website https://panic.vatpac.org'>https://panic.vatpac.org

    What is Panic Stations?

The idea is devilishly simple. Get as many aircraft as possible to try and arrive at a destination airport, touching down at the same time.

It's up to ATC to sort it out and ensure correct procedures and separation standards are adhered to at all times. The first jet and non-jet aircraft to touch down after the target time enjoy bragging rights....until the next Panic Stations.

Pilots can expect non-standard arrivals, plenty of holding and/or speed restrictions. Controllers can expect to work hard, often in non-standard or non-radar positions. It is an extremely satisfying experience as a controller sitting back after a Panic Stations event having adhered to published standards and procedures at all times.

    The Details

    Saturday, September 30

ATC will be provided from 0900z-1200z (1900-2200 AEST).

The winning time for the event will be 1100z (2100 AEST)

  8. Hi All,

It's that time of the month where I start hassling people for content for the newsletter. If you have anything you wish to see in it or contribute towards it (this can be anything from an ATC Quiz, Fun Fact, Real World story, controller upgrades, pilot training updates, accumap updates etc.)

Also looking for any photos if anyone has any that wishes to share.

    Thanks,

    Callum

Following popular demand, Our focus month program will be returning for October!

For the month of October, all scheduled events will be exploring the Northern Territory and Queensland. This will enable pilots and air traffic controllers to experience new places, scenery, and even different procedures. With plenty of Class C, D and G aerodromes throughout the massive area under the spotlight, we're sure you'll enjoy participating.

ATC will need to read up on all of the procedures local to the airport they're controlling at, especially if you are controlling somewhere new! Everything you need to know about airspace can be found in the Airspace section of the VATPAC website https://vatpac.org/operations/documents/.

Stay tuned for individual event information through the calendar. As always, if you have any questions, suggestions or feedback, Please direct it to https://vatpac.org/about-us/feedback/

  14. Hi Everyone,

As mentioned in the event announcements, VATPAC will be attending (On Behalf of VATSIM) the Australia Aviation Expo being held in Brisbane, Queensland.

We will have several staff members attending including myself, and Paul Tyquin. We have a couple of members attending to assist man the stand.

We would again like to extend an invitation to any Brisbane locals to come along and join us. The tickets are free and the event is located at the Aviation Australia building at Brisbane Airport.

We also intend on having a casual dinner after the event prior to myself and Paul flying out. While this is unofficial, we would like to invite any members in the area who may be interested and would like to meet some familiar voices. We will have more details soon on where and when but it will likely be arranged last minute on the day (time permitting).

If you have any questions or queries, please feel free to post below.

    Cheers,

  15. VATSIM has been offered a complimentary stall at the Aviation Expo this weekend, 19 August, in Brisbane.

Ok, I'm fairly upset that with three days to go, it appears the members aren't needed by VATSIM.  VATSIM/VATOCE has announced that they have a stall at this major event, and encourage VATPAC members to 'attend the event'.

Having been to several Flight Sim expos and assisted VATPAC and vRAAF with stands, and offered to do so in future, I guess I'm not wanted in the future of VATPAC, and unless I've missed it, only select people are helping.

Getting an email from VATOCE inviting members to the event is wrong.  Let's be inclusive....

Sean, I understand your frustration but I just wanted to say that since his appointment, Joel has continuously said he wishes to increase our membership numbers.

I can honestly say that none of us knew you had been and would like to continue to be involved in such activities. This also happened very quickly, us only finding out about it yesterday and apart from our attendance, nothing is set in stone. We would love for you to be involved if you would like and I would love to catch up with you personally if you can attend.

    Thanks
