    Hey Everyone,

I’m sure most of you have heard of Jetstar Virtual, we’ve been around for some time now. But, in recent months, Jetstar Virtual has undergone some fairly significant changes. We have a redesigned website which you can check out here: http://jetstarvirtual.net/'>http://jetstarvirtual.net/'>http://jetstarvirtual.net/

Even bigger than that, we have moved away from VAFS pilot reporting and we now have our own Jetstar Virtual Dispatch and Crew Reporting System, which has features such as:

    - Jetstar Virtual Crew Centre, which brings together all your pilot information and links to important parts of the system.

    - A flight booking system, so you can bid on a flight that you would like to do in the near future.

    - Coverage for:

    • Jetstar Australia and New Zealand (JQ/JST)
    • Jetstar Japan (GK/JJP)
    • Jetstar Asia (3K/JSA)
    • Jetstar Pacific (BL/PIC)

    - All of the schedules across Jetstar's network, fully accurate to the real world Jetstar, Jetstar Pacific, Jetstar Japan and Jetstar Asia, all completely updated.

    - Route Maps for each flight that give you an accurate representation of the route to follow

    - Ability to view details on previous flights

    - Live map of all flights

    - Map of all flights you have completed

    - A cutting edge pilot reporting system, which automatically logs flight information off the VATSIM Network, allowing no software to be installed onto a simulation computer, which is a common cause of simulator lag.

    - An all-inclusive Pilot Brief with masses of information for the pilot such as:

    • Operational Flight Plans
    • Flight Planning including ATS Plans
    • Aircraft Weight/Balance
    • Fuel and Passenger Loads
    • Navigation Logs
    • Weather/NOTAM Reports
    • Loadsheets
    • Automatic Flight Plan Filing for the VATSIM Network.
    • Aircraft Defect Logs and Maintenance Tracking Systems
    • Boarding Passes
    • Checklists
    • Take-Off and Landing Data (TOLD) Cards
    • And Much More!

This new system takes the entire burden off the pilots and essentially makes your VATSIM flight plan for you and presents you with all and more of the information you need to operate on Jetstar Virtual’s network.

Jetstar Virtual Recruitment is now OPEN and we are looking for experienced pilots with a good knowledge of Australian procedures and the VATSIM network.

Jetstar Virtual’s Boeing 787 Dreamliner Captaincy program is currently open for applications, whether or not you are currently on the Jetstar Virtual roster. If you are accepted, you will go through the training system and receiving a Jetstar Virtual Type Rating on the B787, and become one of the launch captains flying the delivery routes and the first people to get the type rating. Applications close on June 2 so don’t miss out!

The Jetstar Virtual Type Rating System is currently under development, which promises to be a great resource for crew training and added realism for flight operations. Crew members will be able to start off getting a type rating on their favourite aircraft, wether it will be an Airbus A320/A321, Airbus A330-200 or after its delivery, the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner. Upon receiving your rating on that aircraft, you are able to get a multi-rating on as many of our fleet as you desire. Look out for that coming soon!

Please be aware, Jetstar Virtual is not recommended for those who are new to VATSIM, unfamiliar with flight simulators or equivalent real world skills, or does not enjoy simulating realistic operations.

Sound like something you like? Visit http://jetstarvirtual.net/ to apply!

We hope to see you flying for us in the near future!

    Hayden McClure

    Jetstar Virtual Chief Executive Officer

  2. Petr,

    1. Controllers will usually put in their controller info "CPDLC Login YSNO" if they are logged onto CPDLC.

    2. The Hoppies client will usually make a sound and the icon will change once you receive an ACARS uplink.

    3. Again, controllers will usually indicate in their controller info about their CPDLC status.

    4. Someone else will need to clarify.

    5. If you enter an ATC coverage area, you will put in their CPDLC login code and then request to log onto their station. You make the initial contact.

    6. Once a logon is approved, a message will display on the Hoppies ACARS FMC.

    Hope this helps!

    Hayden.

  3. Thanks for your replies everyone!

Trent, I have my FSX directory in C:/FSX. I'll check out Autogen - it's currently set to dense. Scenery complexity is on very dense.

Greg, It doesn't produce a fatal error, just an AppHang (not responding) error. My system has 8GB RAM, with 2GB VRAM. I'll check the event viewer, however I don't think it will tell me too much as it's not a fatal error.

The patch I used was: bcdedit /set IncreaseUserVA 2560, however it says I can roll it back using bcdedit /set IncreaseUserVA 2048 (taken from http://www.simforums.com/forums/setting-up-fsx-and-how-to-tune-it_topic29041.html).

Steve, I patched UIAutomation back when I set up my FSX partition initially. It may be worth re-patching it just to be sure. I did get a g3d.dll error (which since installing FSUIPC I never had, so it's unusual it appeared), but it's only happened once. Just thought that was worth noting.

System specs in case it may be of assistance:

    Intel Core i7 @ 2.7ghz

    8gb RAM

    NVIDIA GeForce GTX550 TI 1gb

    256gb SSD

    Windows 7 x64

    Again thanks!

  4. Hi all,

I'm having a problem with FSX where it freezes mid-flight. When your flying along all of a sudden FSX freezes with a white faded screen (Win7 x64). I checked the RAM level that FSX is using (around 2gb), and I think it may have something to do with a OOM prevention patch I put on using CMD.

Has anyone else come across this? It's very frustrating, and it's annoying how it doesn't display any error messages afterwards because it's just closing a non-responsive program.

    Thanks!

  5. Hi all,

Today I am going to announce something which may be a surprise to most of you.

Firstly I'm going to start off saying that myself and Alex Deedrik are using false last names, which we have been intending to change for a while. We have both decided that right now is the right time to get our name changed formally.

Why did we use false last names on VATSIM?

When we signed up on VATSIM first, we did not know about what it was like. We wanted to protect our real identity just in case it was a 'dodgy' organisation. We have been convinced for a while that this is a good community environment.

Why have we waited this long?

We have waited to see what others have done, which everyone we know who has used a fake name has changed it successfully without much fuss. We hope it will be the same.

What do we want to happen from here?

If we can get our names changed on VATSIM and VATPAC to our real ones, that would be greatly appreciated. From this day onwards we will use our new names.

    What are our real names?

    Hayden Manuka -> Hayden McClure

    Alex Deedrik -> Alex Diederich

Why Manuka or Deedrik as last names?

They are strong variants of our last name and on joining VATSIM we decided to use them.

Both Alex and I are very sorry to everyone that has been referring to us by these names. I hope friendships won't be lost because this. I'm sure everyone will understand our decision and that respect our name change. We do also realise this is breaking the VATSIM code of conduct, which we apologise for breaking.

If anyone has any questions or concerns, please contact Alex and I directly

    Kind regards,

Hayden McClure/on behalf of Alex Diederich.

  7. Hi all,

Some of you may or may not know that I am making a voice ATIS package for EuroScope based off the real one at YSSY. So far it will only support Sydney (and maybe Perth), as I only have the sounds for there. I will be demoing this tonight from 0830z onwards on YSSY_ATIS (126.25) if anyone wants to take a listen.

I will release it to everyone once I can finalise everything and get all the sounds together.

    Thanks,

    Hayden.

  8. I was looking forward to the FSLabs, until I saw they are going to release the entertainment version first. It really depends on what the entertainment version will include, and the level of simulation. I may make the move to P3D if they have a VATSIM client :)

  9. Hi Nick,

I have been following the progress of this for a while (apparently they will be releasing the release date tonight).

This will be the best Airbus addon for FSX yet. From what I've seen it will be a big jump from the competitors.

We are in the progress of getting the endorsements ready at Jetstar Virtual.

    Hayden.

  10. If you like bad weather the YMML/YMAV area is going to be a hot spot for tonight! Rain is increasing.
