  1. Jetstar Virtual is seeking new management to continue the operation of the virtual airline. The current management team has mutually agreed to be replaced with new management because of real life commitments which limit our availability to further develop the VA. Jetstar Virtual has a rich history spanning over 10 years and instead of closing the VA, we wish for it to be left in capable hands to see it thrive well into the future.

We are currently accepting expressions of interest from prospective Chief Executive Officers. Please note that those interested in a management position should hold off until the next phase begins. The CEO is responsible for the direction and vision of the VA and will be asked to plan and hire new management.

If you are interested, we ask you to send an email to me, [email protected], answering the following questions:

    1. What virtual airline management experience, if any, would you bring into this role?

    2. What virtual aviation experience, if any, would you bring into this role?

    3. What real life aviation or management experience, if any, would you bring into this role?

    4. What technical knowledge/expereience (system design, graphic design, web programming, etc), if any, would you bring into this role?

    5. What changes or modifications would you make to the operations of Jetstar Virtual?

    6. Why should the current Jetstar Virtual management choose you to be the upcoming CEO of Jetstar Virtual?

Applications will be closing at 7:30pm on Sunday November 20, 2016 AEDT.

I'm personally looking forward to the next chapter at Jetstar Virtual to sustain operations well into the future.

    Hayden McClure

Director of Pilot Services at Jetstar Virtual on behalf of the Jetstar Virtual Management Team.

  2. Unfortunately with content management systems, one only has to have a server scan the Internet for a site that is running that version of the CMS. I dropped Joomla several years ago because of the constant exploits and automated attacks that came with it.

  3. Thank you everyone!

Today saw the biggest RealOps event with over 250 bookings across 8 hours. Over 100 flights were seen scheduled into Sydney at one time and it certainly caused havoc for the controllers.

Thank you controllers for the clean shift swaps and quality ATC. Very well handled. The storms that set into Sydney in the evening saw the runways change from 34s to 25 to 16s, all in the space of 1 hour. The coordination was well managed and provided minimal interruption to sequences.

Thank you to all of the pilots who booked a flight, and flew without a booking. It was pleasing to see some GA traffic around to add to the madness.

And thanks to the David Zhong, the schedule builders, George from FlyTampa for the prize and everyone else who played a part (credits here).

David and I are currently determining the winner of the FlyTampa scenery competition. We will announce via the forums and the lucky person via email.

We look forward to seeing you at the next event. Thanks again for making this event a massive success!

    Saturday July 11 0400z-1200z

Slot bookings opened! Book a flight today at http://realops.vatpac.org

For eight hours in July, VATPAC invites you to join us in recreating the chaos at Sydney Airport!

Sydney Kingsford-Smith International Airport is the busiest airport in Australia by passenger volume and features the longest runway in the southern hemisphere.

The new scenery at FlyTampa is now available and will contribute greatly to both the fun and realism that this event brings.

Up for grabs is a FlyTampa scenery for the pilot that operates the most movements, then judged by the closest adherence to the allocated slot times. We appreciate FlyTampa's support of RealOps 2015.

Over 250 flights have been loaded into our state-of-the-art bookings system, right here on this website, with a fantastic mix of international, domestic and regional flights and a diverse range of operators to choose from.

The fun doesn't stop there – with over 30 ATC shifts over eight hours, there is surely something for everyone.

There will be plenty of traffic, so make sure to bring plenty of extra fuel and brush up on your holding patterns just in case.

For the first time in RealOps history, Virtual Airlines will also play a major part in this event. Gather up all your pilots to reach the top of the ladder! The leading virtual airline gets their advertisement at the top of the ladder page.

  6. Hi all,

This weekend the VATPAC Events Team are after a few members to assist in compiling the schedules database for an upcoming event.

If you are interested, it is crucial that you have skills with compiling data and placing this into a cloud spreadsheet document.

If you can help out, please send myself a PM, indicating your availability.

We will announce details of this event shortly.

    Hayden.

  7. EuroScope does not have an adequate flight strip bay to my knowledge, and as much as I like VRC's flight strip bay, I haven't used it in years. Our idea is that it is compatible with tablets and all controller clients. As its all web based, it is cross platform.

  8. Hi all,

This project has been halted for some time and development is set to begin in the upcoming week. I will be sending a message out to all interested developers shortly. This is expected to be launched in some way shape or form with the new VATPAC website, coming soon.

    Thanks,

    Hayden - VATPAC16.

  9. I recently did a clean install on my MacBook of OS X Yosemite and I can confirm it works (after some alternate methods to Andrew).

The guide Andrew posted (about installing Wine) has been updated by the author to use the Homebrew installation method. This is a more supported and modernised platform. The MacPorts guide is still available on that website, but if you go down the Homebrew path, MacPorts is not required.

I spent a while trying to get it up and running again, but I kept on getting failed launches and DLL errors. This was because I accidentally installed EuroScope 3.2, when 3.1d is the version confirmed to work with Wine. TAAATSMod is also unsupported on 3.2 at this stage.

A direct link for ES 3.2 is available here

Hope this helps anyone encountering issues on the new OS.

  10. Kurt and I were departing Melbourne today and the same person jumped on Melbourne Delivery, on which he remained for 5 mins, then to Ground for another 5 mins, then he announced his departure and frequency change. Next minute, on HM_TWR.

  11. I uninstalled this airport recently as most of the gates on the domestic side (T2) were incorrectly positioned, and some aerobridges did not work. There are some eye candy updates, however I prefer the more recent AFCADs.

Make sure you take a backup of your scenery folder first because when I uninstalled it, it left me with no buildings at Sydney.

Going to hold out until FlyTampa comes out with their goods.

  12. Hi all,

The VATPAC IT Dept are excited to announce a new service for our air traffic controllers.

This service is a flight strip network, which allows controllers to control on the VATSIM network with an unprecedented amount of safety and functionality. Regardless of the ATC client used, controllers will be able to push flight strips and manage departing and arriving traffic.

    The goals of this system:

    • To be fully compatible with all mainstream iOS & Android tablets and touch screens. Drag/drop support and completely intuitive interface.
    • To be completely web based.
    • Manage runway activity such as departing, arriving and crossing, and notifying the controller if a conflict is imminent.
    • Customised view for the ATC position logged on to.
    • Link fully from the VATSIM flight plan, and the system has its own database of extended information on that flight.
    • Secure log-ins using VATSIM sign-on tools.
    • To be able to ever expand with our requirements to bring the highest amount of realism.
    • To eventually be able to extend to other divisions who wish to take advantage of the system.
    • To be capable of simulating segments of the INTAS system of Air Services Australia at some point.

We’re interested to hear your thoughts on this system. We are considering making this an open source project to allow all members of the VATPAC community to contribute, hence making the project becoming developed faster and with more features. Part of the system has already been developed, however we are in need of developers, open source or not.

Please respond to the poll that has been created so we can get an indication of your interest.

We look forward to hearing your comments and look forward to this being an innovative and exciting VATSIM wide project.

    Thanks,

    Hayden

    VATPAC16 Deputy Director of IT.
