  3. I am still waiting for an answer to my questions.  I stand by them.  And it appears more and more suspect that those answers are not forthcoming.

Is there some sort of Regional or VATSIM oversight for these special procedures that just get made up in a drunken state in the back of a Truck company warehouse?

Biggest problem with making the VATPAC Board a Boy's Club of unaccountable, inactive chair warmers (Director Events excepted).  Especially given the person who put these people in place has now been removed from his position.

Maybe the reason why you're not getting answers is because you've directly been completely disrespectful and rude towards the people that you expect the answers from. Maybe directly attacking people without potentially having a full story of the situation is not the best way of getting a future resolution to such a problem?

I personally think this was something new that was tried, almost like how we've trialled new events over the years. Whether its had a positive or a negative effect should be the question, not the processes that caused the situation in the first place.

Maybe if we ask the right questions in a respectful way, it may go further to improving VATPAC in the future.

  4. Hi Eoin,

I'm not quite often one to be irked by faulty communication, and as much respect as i have for all the work you've done within the organisation, I find your initial post very rude, aggressive and disrespectful towards the other volunteers within the organisation. The fact that you got no reply to an email is no reason to go on a public rant about other people criticizing the work that they don't do (or so you think). Please do consider your tone of voice when you're posting online. If you're feeling frustrated for not hearing anything, you can imagine how frustrated others would be for hearing only negativity.

In regards to the issue about the Euroscope package, to be honest, I didn't even know such a thing existed so I have unfortunately overlooked it in that last update. I apologise for this. I'm also not sure what "handover" has been done for these packages as you've mentioned earlier as i haven't seen anything regarding this.

None of the emails have reached the operations@vatpac email address either. As this problem is best dealt with by email, can you please resend the email from a different email address. If that doesn't work, please PM me and i'll give you my personal email so we can sort out how to do this.

I'm happy to continue supporting Euroscope despite your feelings towards how people operate around here.

  5. 1. Introduction

The VATPAC sector files are produced and developed by the operations department every 3 months. This version just released is AIRAC 1709, effective on the 17th of August 2017.

The sector files provided support both the Virtual Radar Client and the Euroscope Client.

Thanks to Richard Quigley for doing all the work for getting the Sector Files updated.

Any additions, comments or queries about the sector files shall be directed to [email protected].

    2. AIRAC 1709 Details

All controllers should ensure that their files are up to date prior to logging onto the network.

These sector files are available from the VATPAC Sector File page under Controllers on the VATPAC Website.

NOTE: Unlike previous Sector File publications, there is no split up of Sector Files based on facility (i.e. TMA files, CTR files, etc.). Due to the advancement of technology and internet plans, Sector Files from now on will only be available as a whole package. If you require these files split up in smaller download portions, please email [email protected]

  6. Hi Deano,

I also would like to echo David's comments.

You make a fair point in saying that the "process" is completely different to what has ever been done in the history of VATPAC, but then again, 4 directors immediately resigning is no "ops normal" in itself.

There is a fair bit of importance being given to the "12 months", but I don't think it's a value anyone has actually overly thought about in detail. Its a random number put on there so that these appointments aren't permanent.

My understanding is that all these positions that have been appointed is a short term fix (regardless of the mentioned 12 months) and all positions will be re-advertised one by one with the whole application process as has been carried out in the past. With all of these processes taking place, in the not too distant future, we should see a full set of transparent and understood board of directors in the next few months.

Despite the non-transparency of the current "jobs for the boys", we'll make sure we don't ruin VATPAC too much while this ordeal takes place  ;)

I also think the addiction displayed by 939 hours in the past 6 months might actually end up being some sort of a medical condition  ;D

  7. Very well written Quig.

Good points from everybody. I think Tracy's message has been received and Sean's questions has been answered.

Maybe we should leave it there and move on in the best interest of VATPAC.

    Thanks

    Arjun

  8. Hi Sean,

Good to hear from you again!

As one of those that have been 'appointed' I don't think thats how all future staff will be selected, or should be in my opinion. My understanding is that i'm in this position temporarily to keep it going while an official application process happens in the future. I guess the exception would be some positions that require special skill will probably be assigned to people already in the team (i.e. ATC Training can only be given to an Instructor/Mentor)

  9. Hi Olivier,

A friend and i made a few scenarios a few years ago with some pretty crazy traffic just for our own fun. We connected to each other using hamachi so we were off the VATSIM network to run the scenarios. I'll see if i can find them somewhere and will send you the files.

To make the scenarios, theres a program called Aircraft Situation Editor which works wonders. You can find it below:

    Enjoy

  10. Hi Chris,

If you're willing to get creative, heres a little suggestion.

Get a ruler and some string. Measure in from the sides to find the centre of the computer monitor and have a string going vertically up and down, cutting your screen exactly in half. When you're flying, try and put the centreline of the runway on the string and keep it there. Might get you centreline landings!
