  1. Daylight saving ceases in effected states on 2nd April at 3.00am AEST as such World Discovery Flights will from that date start at a new time of 7.30pm AEST (0930Z). The change from previous 8.00pm AEST to 7.30pm is with the consensus of a majority of pilots who participate in these flights.

  2. Thankyou. Don't have an example as have never taken a screenie of how it appears on the xPilot/vPilot screen. Maybe they are putting this in as they are setting up and then change to active freq when ready? Anyway so I will look for this additional info as advised; either clicking the blue circle in Vatsim Viewer? or their name in VATSpy?

  3. I should know the answer but obviously I don't. Is Vatsim Viewer an official or authorised application for use in Vatsim? If not then my next question is moot. When I log into Vatsim I check Vatsim Viewer to check on ATC and what area is controlled i.e. the blue circle visible in Vatsim Viewer. Often they will show in xPilot or vPilot but with a freq 100.000 which confuses me. Most of the time even though a controller may not be within the blue circle area they are indeed controlling outside that area. So each time this happens and before departing must I send a  .msg  to clarify or should the controller be doing something so that his area of control is clear in Vatsim Viewer??

  4. Please be advised that the flights and dates for 4th, 11th and 18th May have been changed. They have been put back one week i.e. flight scheduled for 4th will now occur on the 11th etc etc. A new flight is being formulated for the 4th May and will be up on the calendar shortly. Apologies for any inconvenience. Dan Mckee Events Co-ordinator

  5. Lachlan, you appear to have missed my point.🙂 Because different sims and different weather generators (apps) are used it just is not possible for every pilot to have the same "current" weather. The different apps get metars from different sources and also reflect different times that the last metar was obtained. Not all weather generators are equal:|

  6. I agree Kirk. Unfortunately there are different sims and weather apps being used which produce varying reports. In reality few un-manned airfields have published up to date metars so the different weather apps will produce different results. Tonight I used MSFS2020 and I have no idea where it got it's metar from. I believe that Kirk is correct, if you are in the pattern then you have right of way. Of course, for example,  if you are on an upwind leg there is nothing stopping you from being polite and advising a pilot ready to take off to go ahead. It all comes down to good manners and politeness.

  7. It has been brought to my attention that VFR/Scenic flights in real life are not normally permitted along the Thames River over London. There is a H4 route however that is restricted to helicopters and also may depend upon a "friendly" controller over the airspace. For these reasons this flight has been cancelled. Instead all current calender flights will be rearranged. Please refer to the amended calender for World Discovery VFR flights. Apologies for any inconvenience. Regards Dan Mckee VFR Event Co-Ordinator.

  8. Just adding my twp cents worth. For serious flying I use X-Plane or in your case I would do all serious flying on P3D because flight characteristics and procedures are more accurate whereas I use MSFS for VFR flying where the scenery is more important than the flight characteristics.    So, Large IFR on P3D and small VFR on MSFS. Also if you are away from internet you can still use P3D or X-Plane however for MSFS you must have a connection even if you do not fly online.
