    Changes to visibility limits will require a CoC change but that's not out of the question.  Not sure of the technicality of a flow controller with a TMA facility type but I'm sure we can create rules around that.

    We can still skip S1.

    I'd have to reserch the top-down limits a bit more.  The changes there were more intended to cope with people having access to ENR without having to be major endorsed on all the airports beneath their ENR sector.

    I have had Josh for both my rating upgrades so far, and he has been amazing throughout the whole process. He takes the time to go through the assessments with me, and explain how I can improve. I love how he answers any questions that I may have. Josh is an amazing instructor, surprised he isn't an I3 yet! kudos to him, and hopefully he keeps up the good work!

    I was extremely disappointed to receive feedback regarding several controllers' conduct over the ATC text channel over the weekend.  All controllers are reminded that whenever they are connected to the VATSIM Network, they are bound by the VATSIM Code of Conduct and User Agreement and may face consequences up to and including having their account permanently terminated under the VATSIM Code of Regulations if they are found to be in breach of these policies.

    Furthermore, the ATC text channel should be used for ATC coordination only, and not general chat including the harrassment of other members.

    BE ON NOTICE that any such behaviour will be treated with the utmost seriousness, you WILL be referred to a VATSIM Supervisor and you risk finding yourself suspended from the network.

    That is all.

  6. From an ATC Training perspective I would like to wish Callum very well during his time away.  I like Zach expect and hope that he will miss us and be back but also understand that a lengthy break is sometimes needed.

    Callum has been an equally hard worker in the ATC Training space having trained and assessed many of our controller through all levels over the years.  In addition he has been actively involved in training some of our mentors and instructors to continue the work into the future.

  7. Hi Chris,

    We haven't had the discussion yet but I envision it will become a COAC.  This means we ca set the rules under which it operates.  The "endorsement" required for ours will not change from the current setup (ie. a C1 rating will be the endorsement required).

    The callsign will probably change to something other than _FSS as that has a new meaning now.  Having said that there are infrastructure changes that need to happen to change how a FSS works on the network so I don't expect that change to happen quickly.  You might find we take those positions offline until we sort it out but as you said, they are rarely used so that won't be a huge problem.

    On a related note, the new policy officially recognises our Procedural Tower Endorsement as "Restricted Aerosromes/Airspace" so that is a bonus for us.

     

  8. Hi All,

    I regretfully announce that Paul Tudball has stepped down from the ATC Training Team.  Paul has contributed greatly to the ab initio training of our controllers as a mentor and more recently instructor for a couple of years now and wishes to take some time away from the role.

    I thank Paul for his excellent service to the community and wish him very well in his future endeavours.

    But do others provide a procedural service as if there is a tower online?

    Personally I always treat it as CTAF.

  14. The text functionality of discord is offline for the time being while we determine the best course moving forward.  Unfortunately it seems certain people just cannot resist turning it into their own personal MMA octagon.

    There are plenty of options available for operational and non-operational communication in the meantime.

    Happy for you to help out where you can. 

    The information above is now quite old and based on systems before major upgrades to the VATSIM infrastructure and newer ATC clients, so there may be some inaccuracies that have been helped along by, for example, the implementation of HF on the network.

    We also have to be mindful though that we are not a real world aviation organisation and we are somewhat limited by what can be simulated online using both our ATC clients and our flight simulators.

    I'm not sure digging up a 3 year old thread for forum post number 1 and calling out someone publicly who is just having a crack (and quite a good one in my opinion) at explaining how things work in our virtual world is the right way to go.  If you would like to discuss our resources, please reach out to me on [email protected] or PM me via these forums.
