  1. Personally didn't use it - hopefully someone who did can comment, but...

I actually kind of enjoyed having to pull out diagrams and manuals to figure out how things worked together. If that's not your sort of thing, it's probably valuable having the videos and guides, it can be pretty daunting going from stock FSX to PMDG level

I'm intending on going from A2A C182 to PMDG 737NGX so I will probably need all the help I can get !!

  2. Thanks guys.

Sean - I understand and agree, I perhaps should have been a bit clearer, I more meant situational things that crop up.

For example, yesterday I flew into YMML for the first time.  I had filed an IFR plan but as it wasnt too busy I was given the direction to make a visual approach at 4nm.  I wasn't sure in these circumstances whether this allowed me to manage my own descent?

  3. A further question ...

I unzipped the rar file, do I need to run the 3.0 through 3.5 installers sequentially or just the 3.5?

I just did the 3.5 but I don't think I did it correctly.

    I need a P3D Scenery 101 tutorial !

  4. So generally:

    - Call up CTR "<callsign> taxies for rwy <rwy> at <icao>", you'll get traffic info and a squawk

    - Switch to CTAF for departure (if not extending to tower), or remain on CTR (if covering tower)

    - Make a departure call to CTR when airborne with details

Ok thanks. Is there a reference I can read up on this further ?

  5. Hi ... Apologies for noob question ...

I'm learning and getting exposed to voice comms on VATSIM by flying regionally on my A2A C182 and doing FSEconomy missions. For example, last night I flew YNRM-YPKS.

My question is ... If there is CTR coverage for the region I am flying, do I assume that CTR will cover all the way down to GND? If not, where do I commence communication with CTR?

Thanks for any advice ... Technically my flight plan was outside ML_BIK last night but I wasn't sure whether to fly another leg into the controlled airspace while Milk Run was active.

  6. Yes we have now combined all together to create a complete version

    http://aussiex.org/forum/index.php?/files/file/5787-ozx-v35-complete/

Or if you have earlier versions installed just grab them individually http://aussiex.org/forum/index.php?/files/file/1825-single-links-ozx-au-complete-ozx-na-complete-ozx-libraries/

Thanks Robert ... I've downloaded the full file but not sure where to install it for Prepar3d V3.3 ...sorry I am new to the whole scenery add on thing ;)

  7. Hi all

Just womdering the best way to see hours logged as a pilot on VATSIM?  I'm looking at Vatstats but although that shows my number of flights it is saying total time 0.0minutes.  I have flights older than 2 days so surely they should show up?  Is there a better way?

  8. Hi everyone

I am trying to get up to speed flying the A2A C182 before I venture online.  I feel like I have most of it under control ... except for landing.  Try as I might when I get down to the last 500 feet or so the C182 drifts and skips all over the place and I'm really struggling to land on the runway! Most times I bring her down safely but I take more grass than runway.

Any recommends for good tutorials, practice or anything else ... because right now this is the only thing stopping me flying on VATSIM.

  9. Hi Chris,

    Welcome!

Great to see you starting off at the start with the 182.  That's a great place to start as it's fairly simple but at the same time very realistic and rewarding.

Getting used to the views etc is a bit awkward but there is a very good tool called EZDok camera sold by flight1  that allows you to set up customised cameras and switch between them with hotkeys or buttons on your controller.  I use a HAT switch to pan my view around and then have a few preset camera positions (one looking straight out the front) to reset back to something I know very quickly.

If you are looking for somewhere to cut your teeth in your 182, try the VFR flights on Friday nights and Sunday afternoons.  These guys all gather in the Teamspeak server so they can chat and bounce knowledge around.

Ok I purchased and downloaded EZDok, but there are no default cameras. I watched Matt Davies video on installing and it had defaults such as Pilot Eyes etc but I have blanks.  Not sure what I have done wrong?

  10. Last thing I want to do is crash on a VATSIM runway :)

You would be neither the first nor the last

    8)  Whats the standard ATC call for oh no I stuffed it and crashed?

  11. Thanks Paul!

I have what seems like a million questions :)  I haven't ventured on to VATSIM yet because I'm good with takeoffs and cruising but my landings are woeful.  I can't seem to hold the plane steady enough to align on descent, I've made quite a few landings on grass rather than runway :)

I'm practising via FSeconomy runs offline.  Last thing I want to do is crash on a VATSIM runway :)

  12. OZx has no affect to ORBX they are two different products (so to speak) OZx does not alter any ORBX textures it adds scenery that ties in with ORBX textures, like Airports and Visual reference points etc things orbx AU dont offer

Outstanding then I will most definitely take advantage!

  13. Hi Chris,

Orbx and OZx are two different downloads. OZx is freeware that has many many little airfields.

If you have the available funds, I'd look into TrackIR. It's a small infrared device that tracks your head movement to simulate you looking around the cabin. I have it and never look back. Being able to simply look out you window, or down at the gauges and back out the front is invaluable.

Happy flying and see you on the VFR track!

    Joel

Hi Joel ... thanks. I appreciate that the OrbX and OzX are different, I meant that now I have already bought OrbX I can't install the other?

    Will definitely look into TrackIR
