Hi all,
For the PSS scarebus and Dash 8 drivers, I have updated the sids/stars for YPAD, YPDN, and YBBBN to reflect the changes in DAP104.
As usual Merv Archer has been more than kind enough to host on his server at http://www.austscene.com
You will also find Merv has done the updates for PMDG and is working on LDS.

Well, Amazon.com has them for $US99.64 each (CH Yoke & Pedals). That's about $AU140.00 plus $AU55.00 shipping via USPS parcel service (6-8 weeks).
The $AU estimates include our GST.
There are a couple of commercial vendors an eBay that will ship to Australia. I'm waiting for shipping quotes from them.
 Sure Steve! And with my next 5 Billion.........
I did say they were expensive...they are also on my if I ever win lotto shopping list...

Andrew,
Well done mate. All the best.

Pilot’s flying through uncontrolled airspace should set their VHF radio frequency to 122.80 or other designated “Unicom” frequency and monitor until they come under air traffic control coverage.
All pilots should be monitoring 122.80 when not under direct ATC coverage/control, and communicating on text. Just because we have unicom-au and all those MBZ/CTAF freq's does not mean that Joe Smith (appols to any Joe Smith's) from UK/USA/or where ever knows about them. As long as he/she is monitoring 122.80 on text he/she is complying with VATSIM regulations

Welcome Glenn, hope to see you online soon

Thanks for all the responses.
As I said I was not trying to imply that ATC had made mistakes, I was just seeking information to why runway 07 was not being used as much these days.
See you in the skies...

Hi All,
I just wish to ask why ATC have been favouring the use of runway 34L and 34R of late, in Sydney.
It does not seem to matter that winds indicate that the use of runway 07 is a better option, runways 34L/R are being utilised to the point where a downwind procedure is resulting.
I know we can, and often do, ask for the other runway but I do not like doing this as I worry about it comming across the wrong way, in that I am questioning the controllers abilities or something.
Please note, I am not trying to provoke an argument or say that ATC is wrong in their choice, there are many reasons that the use of a runway is choosen.
I am just seeking to find out why 07 is not being used as much any more.

Congrats Brad.

While we are banning newbie pilots from major airports, how about we restrict new ATC to minor airports.
I just love newbie atc who have been controling for 2 weeks, that are just so professional and never make mistakes, or land aircraft on the wrong runways, have atis for YBBN when controling in YSSY....
BTW the recommend flight plans are just that RECOMMENDED they are not law, it just makes life a little easier for atc if everyone going to Melbourne is going the same way!

I will be there.

Andrew,
Many of the new waypoints are not in the database due reasons discussed in other posts.
In many of these new updates where the waypoints where not in the nav cycle available to me at the time, I used the lat/lon and put the names in so the FMS would show the waypoint name...but the dct function can not recognise these waypoints because it does not read the sid/star databases.
I hope that makes sense....

Congrats Norman,
I can not think of a better person for the job.
Well done.

Thanks Guys

Andrew,
If I offended you I am sorry, I just do not think that the rules are as strict as you are reading them.
I can not see a problem with posting our long haul flights (of which I have enjoyed sharing with you). Most either start and/or finish in VATPAC airspace, and the few that do not are usually heavily attended by VATPAC's biggest resource -- its members, I am sure that would cover the vatpac interest in it.
Again I am sorry for any offence caused, I guess I read it differently.
-
Andrew,
I think you need to re read the message. I see no problem with it.

Roland, step back and have another look.
All I am saying, and will say again, is well done Luke, and if the the people in the training department would take note for if and when Luke ever decides to go to the next level, that he does provide an excellent service.
If VATPAC training staff (if there is such a creature anymore) feel that I have invaded someones (Luke's) privacy here I would love to see it explained.
I get flamed when I try to help new pilot members and I get shot down when I try to spotlight an ATC job well done. Some days I wonder why I bother! What ever happened to fun and friendship element that has made VATPAC what it is today?
-
Hi all,
Just want to take a minute and publicly thank Luke Bruce-Smith for his excellent service tonight on ML-BIK.
To the people who note these things, please put a tick against Luke's name as a serious contender for Senior Controller.

Col, by all reports the latest version of "Activesky" is brilliant but has anyone taken the time to read all the "fine print" on what makes this new version as good as it is ??
Yes the Interface has been upgraded but it's the new set of Clouds that is by far the biggest Improvement BUT where did those New Coulds come from ?? Well if you do plenty of reading and research they are in fact the very same Clouds that you can download FREE (See my Post "Do you have to Spend BIG Money"). Yes the New Clouds for "Activesky" are in fact those made by the "FSW" !!!
Cheers
Ian
Close Ian, but not 100% correct.
Yes Chris is the person responsible for the clouds, but they are a new development/improvement made for ASV. Yes you can download the 512x512 texture set from AVSIM for free, but they will only work correctly with ASV, this was done to reduce the size of the purchase download.
Then there is the ability to experience wind shear on approach that has been modelled, along with the abilities to custom make thermals, and custom make your own weather themes, deciding what type(s) of cloud that you wish to experience and all the other little things that most people will not notice.

AAAAMMMMAAAZZING clouds
Could not have said it better.
The cloud sets that come with ASV are simply the best I have ever seen, and when you set them up in the theme that you like, wow!

I am confused.... how can you be cleared to land when there is a aircraft in front of you either on approach or on the runway?
This seems to happening a lot more often of late. Would not something along the lines of ...continue approach, number 2 to land, expect late clearance... be a better option?
