Recently the position of VASO Manager became vacant and while we thank Blake for the time in the role we now feel it is best for the operating of the department to dissolve the role into the Membership Manager. Luke will be reaching out to all our VA's and talking with the CEO or appointed contact to see how we can help your VA and members make better use of VATPAC resources.

Blake, VASO Manager, has decided after much thought that due to changing real-life circumstances he was now unable to commit to the time requirements for his position and as such Blake decided to resign from his role as of today. Blake has been instrumental in the transition of VASO's from the Operations and Director positions to the Membership department and we thank him for all the time he has put in during his time in the position. Blake re-joined the VATPAC staff team many years ago as an operations advisor and in his time in the role has worked closely with VATPAC's virtual airline operations so, when the time came to introduce the VASO Manager role in early 2021 Blake was the obvious choice. Since then Blake has worked with virtual airlines like Compass Virtual, RAAF Virtual and VeeOz just to name a few as well as communicating with new up and coming virtual airlines looking at taking over the virtual skies. From all of us in the VATPAC staff team thank you Blake and we look forward to hearing about what the future has in store for you.

Hi all,
Just a small note to congratulate all who have combined to give VATPAC an outstanding result in the 2014 Golden Mic contest.

I don't say much in here, as your division and regional staff are always on top of everything and always available to lend a hand, but I often drop in and have a look around my home division, and I am always happy to hold VATPAC and VATOCE up as an example of how things can be done on the network.

This maybe of interest to ATC rated members who would like to expand their experiences a little, and it could also mean more ATC for pilots heading to the Asia region.
VATSIM South East Asia Division is currently running an Open Sky Policy trial scheme in alignment with the Open Sky Policy announced by VATASIA with the goal of encouraging visiting controllers to participate in ATC activity in VATSEA. The trial period will last for six months, from now until June 15th, 2014. During this period, any controllers from any division on VATSIM are invited to control any positions in Hong Kong FIR, Vientiane FIR and Phnom Penh FIR corresponding to their rating. Their ATC activities will still subject to the Visiting Control Policy published by the VATSIM Executive Committee and must comply with any local ATC regulations. Depending on the operational need of the division, VATSEA may revise the restrictions on Open Sky controllers during the course of the scheme. FIRs other than aforementioned ones are not participating in Open Sky at this time.
As the goal of the Open Sky Policy is to minimize the workload of local instructors, OP controllers will be provided self-study training guides to familiarize themselves with local procedures. While they are encouraged to self-study all local procedures on their own as much as possible, local instructors will still assist with any questions or concerns that OP controllers may have during this period.
Controllers interested are to apply with VATSEA Division Director (Acting) ([email protected]) stating their current rating, home division, and hours of controlling at current rating.

Me? Why?

Following on from a Facebook post, there are no VATSIM rules dictating what set up a member must use. As long as they are connected to the network correctly and providing a competent service then the colour scheme, cursor type or layout of their screen is irrelevant.

To be fair to PC Australia and Dean, I am happy to report that the refund was granted. Dean has informed me that the developer is working on a fix for issues, I wish him well as it has the potential to be a good piece of scenery.
-
Just purchased this Adelaide scenery, it is not until you commence the install process you find out there are major known issue with the scenery including NO PAPI lights, apron lights on during the day, car headlights on and the developer mentions in the manual these will be fixed if he has the time.
I will be raising a refund request with PAYPAL, as the product delivered does not match the advertised product, definitely not a completed product, an incomplete beta would be closer to the truth.
Extremely disappointed and another reason for me to shop with international vendors.

The email from the forum is legit, your password must have been reset (ALL SUP passwords have been reset) which the forum sees as a new member for some reason.

VATPAC put in a very strong presence this week and were contenders in all three categories, and winners with Melbourne Centre (YKLG).
A thank you from me to all who made the effort, and regardless of where you place in the ironmic, making the effort makes you all winners.

Hi Lionel,
One thing I noticed that can cause issues is when setting up the aircraft, not selecting the correct airframe, ie putting a 700 repaint onto the 600 frame. The program defaults to the 600.

Mark,
We are realistic. VATSIM weather is the standard all flights should operate to. This ensures that everyone is on the same page, the controllers are limited to using the VATSIM weather feeds, and whilst pilots are free to use whatever weather program they want, it should be set to VATSIM weather for departures and arrivals.
You are free to request any runway you desire for your flights needs, but do be prepared for delays and holds if this is not what the current controller is using.
regards,
Steven

July 27th 2011 is the 10th Anniversary of VATSIM. To celebrate and promote this occasion, the Founders, Board of Governors and the Executive Committee would like to invite all members to participate in the "VATSIM 10 Year Anniversary video contest".
We invite all interested members to produce and submit a video showcasing the virtues of VATSIM, the rules are simple.
1. The video must show both the ATC and Pilot sides of VATSIM.
2. The video must be recorded on the VATSIM network.
3. The video should ideally show a cross section of the entire network and not focus on one particular ARTCC/vACC/etc.
A panel of judges will then pick the winning entry (or entries), which will be used as the promotional video(s) for all VATSIM 10th Anniversary celebrations and press releases. Please note: Entries containing copyrighted material will be disqualified and removed from the contest, please take care when choosing your audio material.
All submissions need to be sent to me via ftp to arrive no later than 23:59z July 10th 2011. When you are ready to submit your video please email me at [email protected] for the ftp details.
