I've written a rough tool that can generate elements of map files (xml) from DAH data, or you can add them manually if you wish  :)

Also, the SCT2 spec doesn't have support for sectors, which seems kinda dumb to me :D

  2. I'm sure most of you out there are familiar with AccuMap. Probably one of VATSIMs most ambitious maps out there, being able to correctly display sectors, dynamically change sectors based on runways, all the good stuff.

Unfortunately for the project, there have been some changes in my life that will prevent me from continuing to work on it.

As of today, AccuMap will be officially merging into SimVector (https://simvector.net/).

My reasons for this are simple due to my lack of time to commit to the project alone. I simply don't have enough time on my hands to keep the project running, or even make it open-source friendly. Balancing that with my personal life, my career, and other projects I want to work on is just not possible.

With that being said, our new code for depicting flight plan routes, SIDs, STARs, and even better sector depictions with easy sector file importing tools will be given to SimVector, and we will be assisting in the merge as much as we can.

The AccuMap Discord will be changing to be a more general community.

The whole AccuMap team of developers, contributors and testers thanks everyone from the VATSIM team, the users, and all of our donators and hosting providers for all the support you've given us over the past 1 or 2 years in one of VATSIMs most ambitious maps.

  4. I just started having an issue where switching to the outside view in Prepar3D will result in an FPS lower than 5. This FPS carries on through to the inside view. When I pause the simulator, the FPS returns to normal, but unpausing results in the FPS dropping back down to sub-5 FPS. I can resolve the issue by making other menus show up (attempting to close, opening settings, changing time, changing aircraft) after 2-3 tries.

The morning this happened, everything was perfectly fine. This seemed to come out of nowhere. No new add-ons, no changes to scenery or settings, no Windows Updates, no NVIDIA driver updates. I simply shut my computer down and came back to it later in the day to find this issue.

Attached is a video example of the issue: https://youtu.be/GcznSvv3Ndg

    I have already tried:

    • Deleting the Prepar3D.cfg file in %appdata%\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v4 (Allowing P3D to re-generate)
    • Deleting the "Shaders" directory in %localappdata%\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v4 (Allowing P3D to re-generate)
    • Re-installing NVIDIA drivers
    • Enabling Hyperthreading
    • Running as administrator
    • Disabling add-ons
    • Disabling scenery
    • Using default aircraft
    • Using default scenery
    • Reducing all graphics settings to minimum (Yes. I still get 4 FPS when all graphics settings are as low as they can be, at default airports and using default aircraft...)
    • Rebooting my computer (Multiple times)

    My PC specs are:

    • Intel Core i7 8700 @ 3.20GHz
    • NVIDIA GeForce RTX2070
    • 8GB DDR4 RAM

The add-ons loaded (during the recording of the video) are:

    • ChasePlane
    • ENVTEX
    • ENVSHADE
    • ActiveSky for P3Dv4
    • Quality Wings 787 (With update 1.1.3)
    • Orbx FTX Global
    • FlyTampa Amsterdam

I've been running P3D on these settings for around a month now and this is the first time I've experienced an issue like this. Any help would be appreciated.

    5. MILITARY AIRCRAFT OPERATIONS

5.1 High-speed military jet & turboprop aircraft will be on random tracks without communications within all exercise airspace. Traffic information will not be provided to or about exercise aircraft operating in the exercise area. (Intentions may be handed to ATC by the flight lead on a flight by flight basis)

5.2 Aircraft operating out of Williamtown (YWLM) will operate on the appropriate CTAF channels when ATC is not online.

5.3 When outside CTAF areas, military aircraft will tune UNICOM until established within active restricted airspace. Upon entering active restricted airspace military aircraft will be virtually NOCOM. (See para 5.4)

5.4 Regardless of the phase of flight, military aircraft will endeavour to monitor UNICOM text (122.800) for mutual separation when ATC is offline.

5.5 The below list outlines the civil frequencies that military aircraft will operate on when outside of restricted airspace.

  7. 1. INTRODUCTION

In November 2016, ICAO introduced a number of new rules for aircraft cleared via SID and STAR procedures. To align with the international practice, Australia introduced the ICAO SID/STAR procedures in November 2017.

    2. Summary

A level instruction issued with the words "VIA SID" or "VIA STAR" alerts the pilot that they are flying a procedure with published restrictions that must be complied with. A level instruction without the word "VIA" re-enforces the pilot on a published procedure that there are no remaining published restrictions that the controller expects to be met. If a procedure has remaining published restrictions, level restrictions will only be issued without the word "VIA" if the controller explicitly cancelled them.

  8. Hi all,

Been running Prepared v3 on a desktop since it came out, however, i've since switched to an iMac for work reasons, and don't have much space left over in my home for a desktop.

Would anyone have experience running Prepared v4 on a gaming laptop, such as Alienware or Razor? If so, what recommendations would you make? Not looking to run the highest settings, just something that can run P3d with ease at medium - medium-high settings, and a fair amount of add-ons.

    Any advice is appreciated!

  9. Just like Brisbane, the airspace is determined by the runway threshold.

Imagine two semi-circles with their bases at the thresholds and a 7 nm radius from the threshold (7 NM THR). The gap between these two semi-circles is then joined.

The 7700 is good, however, a DGPU (Dedicated GPU) would be required to get any sort of decent framerate.

    I second that.

Get yourself a GTX1070 at least with the cash you've got and maybe invest in a 1TB SSD (for the sim only)

  12. Answered "Yes" to question two, as while I extend as often as I can, my choice of where to extend can be determined by traffic.

Eg: If I connect to DOS, and I see traffic flying from Sydney to Brisbane, I'll extend to MDE.

However, I never extend while I'm on TRT, as that sector doesn't allow for it given the area of the adjacent sector and the vis range limitations. All four vis points are taken by TRT.

  13. I've learned from experience, it's more expensive keeping an old system up-to-date than it is to build a new system on a budget. $900 would probably get you a fairly good gaming build.

What I would recommend though is replacing the motherboard entirely, so you can fit a newer CPU, as the FM2+ is quite outdated. Given the parts I've shown, it's easily doable with the budget.
