  1. Pretty cool mate.

Is there any way to override the automation? I was controlling Tamworth the other day and there was a variation with the METAR format, meaning none of the variables were showing correctly (cannot remember what the formatting issue was though).

It can't detect formatting changes, but it can do formatting cleanups, like removing a bunch of repetitive "///"s

If you come across the formatting change again, let me know what it is and i can add an handler or something

  2. New year, new ATIS!

A new ATIS file package is now available for EuroScope controllers.

This new package provides more sound files, improved sound quality, and more features controllers can use to provide pilots with the required information.

This package also simulates the INTAS ATIS voice, replacing the old male voice found at some Class C aerodromes and female voice at RAAF aerodromes. While INTAS is not 100% rolled out yet, it soon will be in the near future. But VATPAC is prepared, and ahead of the game!

Included with the new ATIS files is also a brand new ATIS Generator application!

This application is 100% automatic, and only requires controllers to set the runways, approach types, and other operational information. And [glow=red,2,300]no, there is no more copy-paste required![/glow]

This new application is built on top of the old online ATIS Generator, however, this one is much more efficient, aesthetically pleasing, faster, powerful, and less broken!

    Download available here:

    https://operations.vatpac.org/ais/VATPAC%20EuroScope%20ATIS%20Package%20-%201803.zip

The new ATIS files and generator application will be included with the VATPAC EuroScope package by default and will be pre-configured for every necessary profile.

    Quick how-to:

[*]Launch EuroScope and the ATIS Generator

[*]Copy the URL from the ATIS Generator into the EuroScope ATIS menu's "ATIS Maker URL" section.

[*]Tick the "Automatically generate new ATIS using the URL" checkbox at the bottom.

    [*]Click the "Test" button.

    Done!

Your ATIS will now automatically update when the METAR changes.

You can adjust the ATIS parameters in the ATIS Generator application.

You can press the "Test" button to re-fetch the current ATIS from the generator.

For more information, please read the manual provided.

    Happy controlling!

  3. Had an issue with an aircraft at Sydney while extending to Wollongong from Snowy, I called over a sup and this is all I got...

    >
    * [08:04:59] $$_SUP: Hello, my name is $$$ $$$, and I'm one of the VATSIM Supervisors. I'm responding to your request for assistance. How may I help?
[08:05:31] >> Heyo, ANZ511 not in contact with me, i'm covering sydney and he's just been taxiing through other aircraft
[08:05:38] >> Sent him lots of messages but no replies
    * [08:06:21] $$_SUP: you are opening Melbourne CTR then how Sydney CTR is in your control?
[08:06:33] >> Because in Australia, we extend our services
      [08:06:46] >> http://prntscr.com/ijfd1f
      [08:06:49] >> That's my coverage
    * [08:06:51] $$_SUP: is there any specific document on this?
      [08:06:57] >> Yes
    * [08:06:59] $$_SUP: can i have a look?
      [08:07:41] >> https://operations.vatpac.org/documents/policy/Controller%20Positions%20and%20Ratings%20Policy.pdf
      [08:08:10] >> Section 3.3

Rather than dealing with the aircraft who was clearly breaking VATSIM policies (flying into other aircraft on the taxiway, not following ATC instructions, not reading ATC messages, and clearly stating in the remarks that they will not read any messages from ATC), this supervisor focused more on the fact that I was extending coverage...

Do network supervisors get any education on sector extensions or local division policies at all? Because the more time he wasted chasing me up asking about extensions and looking for documentation, the more unhappy the pilots were on the ground, and the more unhappy I was waiting for this issue to be dealt with.

  4. What does the single record playback do?

The normal EuroScope ATIS works by arranging pre-recorded sound files and playing them back in a specific order.

Multiple record playback plays back the audio files in the text area in the specified order.

Single record playback plays back only the selected audio file in the top list.

Single record playback completely disregards the "Text ATIS and multiple record ATIS" text area (But still needs to be filled out for the text portion of a single record playback ATIS).

How does it differ from the others for the Metro stuff vs class C airports?

Class C profiles are equipped with the Male or INTAS ATIS packs as that's what the real world towers use, the D/C-ATIS systems.

Class D/Metro profiles are equipped with the Manual record ATIS, because these aerodromes do not have D/C-ATIS systems and have their ATIS manually recorded by the tower controller, just like in VRC.

  5. Well, you can disregard those things for a hypothetical discussion but you can't disregard them if you are planning on actually doing this. If AYPM is in a separate sector file, then you can't extend. And private sector files have never been condoned because they create a data consistency risk.

Well yes, I was disregarding the fact that they are in separate files for this hypothetical scenario.

But in reality, it's possible. Open the AYPM sector file, and the ARA profile in separate EuroScope windows and they will form a proxy connection:

The only real limitation here is vis points.

  6. Most CTR controllers like to extend their coverage to adjacent sectors, but I've just had a thought.

If we allow YBBB sectors to extend to YMMM sectors, regardless of vis point and sectorfile limitations, do we also allow extensions from YBBB to AYPM or AGGG (If that's the correct FIR code)?

VATPAC governs those FIR so I would assume that extending through would be fine, it just sounds weird.

  7. I've had the idea to create alternate symbology setups for EuroScope, specifically for our RAAF Aerodromes (Which use the CMATS system).

I have some resources which I can use to create these setup files, and it would be at no extra hassle to our controllers who use the EuroScope package.

I'm back from my AIS and Ops Hiatus and I can resume maintaining the VATPAC EuroScope package, so if anyone would be interested in seeing these RAAF setups on EuroScope, i'll send through some screenshots later tonight, and you can share your opinion bellow.

  8. I've been a controller on VATSIM for about two years now and I [glow=red,2,300]LOVE[/glow] dealing with GA pilots.  :-*

Dealing with the jets is fun and all, and they're bloody everywhere, but there's always that one GA pilot making things interesting.

  9. Hi Jason,

VATPAC Provides a package for EuroScope with all the files and settings i believe you are looking for.

All of the profiles have the correct airways and fixes displayed, and everything is set up for you, so all you have to do is enter your details, click install, open EuroScope, choose your sector, then hit connect.

    I think that's what you're looking for.

  10. This is why pilots are given an initial altitude in their airways clearance.

Melbourne Approach should descend arrivals to 6,000ft at the lowest whilst over the departure path. This allows 1,000ft separation between departures (Assigned 5,000 initially), and the arrivals.

  11. Hi all.

As you all should know, VATSpy, VATTASTIC, ServInfo and all the others, cant depict ATCs sector extensions.

AccuMap is proud to boast our newest feature with both VATPAC and VATNZ in mind. AccuMap now depicts ATC sector extensions!

For this to work, you simply enter:

    >extending("sector logon callsign")

    into your controller ATIS.

    For example:

    >extending(ML-WOL_CTR ML-SNO_CTR ML-TBD_CTR)

  12. Hi Arjun,

I do apologize for my tone. If I had known my emails had not been received, I would not have been so "aggressive" if I had known this. I've been under a lot of pressure lately with school and AccuMap, and not receiving replies to emails has come through to me as ignorance (Thanks to one of my teachers).

I have just re-sent my email from my personal address in hopes it will reach you.

Even though I have resigned and I have moved on to more projects, I am still happy to provide support for the EuroScope package if need be.

  13. It's an operations matter and specifically a sectorfile matter. The question being "Is the VATPAC EuroScope package" still being supported by the VATPAC operations department as it has been for the last year and a half.

I handed in all the files following my resignation, however, I can re-send them if emails are working.
