  1. I wasn't talking about removing the installer! Keep the installer, that installs with 1709, then getting the person to install the latest sectorfiles update and replace it with the sectorfiles folder that was installed with 1709 package.

Removing the package would be the pits. So, to have an alternative, my suggestion would be the most preferred. I don't think that anyone else will continue the package (although I may be wrong.)

    Cheers,

    Ryan

I never said anything about removing the package either. what I'm saying is:

If VATPAC were to stop updating the EuroScope package and make users update the sector files themselves after installing an old version, that's a bad image. It just shows laziness and it gives off a very careless feeling. And as I said, it defeats the purpose of the package altogether if the user has to update the sectorfiles themselves.

  2. Eoin, everyone at VATPAC appreciates the level of work you put into the EuroScope package! As you and I know, it made the mentors job ALOT easier and sped up the process of mentoring students significantly.

Even though there will be no update, this still has potential. Maybe adding a simple instruction to install the latest AIRAC updates that can be replaced with the 1709 ones in the sectorfiles folder, this still keeps the package moving forward, assisting the training team and members.

    Cheers,

    Ryan

    Thank you, Ryan

I feel as though forgetting about the installer and just telling users how to update the sectorfiles is really unsupportive. Not to mention, it defeats half of the purpose of the whole package.

not only that, but it makes VATPAC look bad.

  3. I noticed the sector files for 1709 have been released, but I can't help but notice, this is the only AIRAC release for a while now where the VATPA EuroScope Package was not updated...

Since my resignation from the operations team, I have handed over management of the package to the new ops team. Not only have I provided all the source code and source files, but I've also handed over a document demonstrating how to update it with each AIRAC update.

If I'm honest, I feel like the year of dedication and hard work that I have put into perfecting the package in regards to installation, contents, profiles, ATIS files and so on, has gone completely unnoticed and unappreciated by the new ops team. I feel as though they have abandoned supporting the EuroScope users. The package was set out to make EuroScope installation and set up easy with profiles for literally every single controller position in Aus. And since its release, the majority of VATPAC EuroScope users have used it.

So I ask, why has the package not been updated? :'(

    Regards,

A very unhappy VATPAC contributor.

  4. Thanks everyone!

A bug was recently found that prevented AccuMap from auto-updating. If you continue to receive update alerts after downloading the update. Please re-download AccuMap from this page:

    http://accumap-project.com/#download

You can also alternatively navigate to "%appdata%/AccuMap", and then run the accumap-install.exe file within.

    We apologize for the inconvenience.

We are always on the lookout for more bugs, if you have any, please report them.

If you are still experiencing slow download speeds, we are currently in the process of setting up a CDN to increase the download speed.

  5. Eoin,

Not sure if already implemented, but it would be great if you could show a controller's extended coverage by reading the ATIS line 2,3 etc, for a specific string that shows the extended area on the map, then activates the sector in accumap as well as the original connected sector coverage.  Would be really helpful for CTR extenders when someone is not sure.  Also not sure if it's just my settings, but I really like vat-spys way of showing the main sectors when offline too (YSNO, YWOL etc).  Could be a bit too much work if that all needs manual drawing though.

Way to go on a hopefully successful product launch, looks bloody great.

    Dave

    Hey Dave,

We cant remove the lines between the sectors, but if you click on the sector, it tells you who's controlling the sector anyways. We're working on getting labels for aircraft and ATC sectors working.

As for the extending, that's really difficult since there is no standard format... Everyone seems to use different words for extending.

"Extending - WOL, SNO" - That's how i do it

"Extending" - I see this everywhere, they dont even mention what sectors...

    "Covering WOL and SNO"

"Covering Melbourne Wollongong and Melbourne Snowy"

So many possibilities... No way of knowing.

I'm planning on creating a separate software or site that injects a "fake" controller into the datafile, so you log in with SSO, say what sectors you're extending to, and then all users can see that you're covering that sector :)

    Only an idea

  6. Surprise!

AccuMap v1 is out in the wild and available to all Windows users!

Our MacOS version is still in development and will be ready for download before Cross the Pond Eastbound 2017!

Special thanks to all of our developers, contributors, and testers for making this possible!

You can download it from our website here: http://accumap-project.com/

If you have any issues, feel free to send them to us also via the website.

    Happy simming!

Please note: There are still some small issues with the app, but it's nothing that makes it unusable. Besides, we have a bug report tool for everything :)

  7. Hi all,

Some of you may have heard of a new project in development called AccuMap. AccuMap is, in short, a VATSIM traffic and ATC viewing client much like FlightRadar24.

It's currently in development and expected to be released in late July 2017.

    Features include:

    • One centralized database, meaning everyone sees the same ATC sectors and nobody has an out of date file.
    • FIR Sub-sectors, meaning you can see what each sector is, rather than seeing the entire FIR online when a controller logs on.
    • System notifications, so you know when your friends are online or when someone squawks 7700.
    • Day and night color modes so you dont get blinded during the night by the brightness.

    And many more features!

As quoted from one of our testers "This version is only half done, and it's already replaced my VATSpy forever!"

You can follow the project via the Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/accumapvatsim), or via the website (http://accumap-project.com/).

  8. If you look at the url:

    http://www.airservicesaustralia.com/aip/'>http://www.airservicesaustralia.com/aip/pending/dap/AeroProcChartsTOC.htm

It says pending because that section is used for the next AIRAC release. Since they haven't released the charts for AIRAC 1709 and it's just turned to 1706, it will be in the "current" section.

    Hence:

  10. Last year, there was a small meetup at the Aviation Careers Expo at Brisbane airport which went pretty well.

Any meetups with VATPAC members are typically independently organized by the community themselves.

  11. Independent departures only used when using parallel runways.

When using only one runway, only that runway name needs to be said (Eg: Runway 16 ...). When using more than one runway, it must be specified what each runway is being used for (Eg: runway 16L & R for arrivals and departures).

  12. Hey,

    Thx for all the info.

I've succeeded running a simulation with 4 acfts playing both ATCO and blippy... and understand that a peak simulation will need at least 2 persons...

So, at first, is anyone aware which inputs make the SYD ATCO in real life ? I guess : CFL, RTE change, and probably a use of the Optxt (free txt line in the label) to write info as Visual with RWY, Assign speed, etc... The aim is to use it as close as possible to reality.. btw, I did not find a tool for the bearing and distance measurement (seems the RER just input the HDG). Is such a tool available ? (for example to 'link' 2 tfc and keep an eye on the separation btn them )

In addition, it seems there is something like an Arrival Manager available (TFMS), is it possible to use it ?

Finally, are there any tutorial/handbook about making scenario ? I was thinking of using an excel file as a basis to create the scenario files using some macros...

Of course, I will share the files if I succeed in making it.

    Again thx for any help.

    Cheers

Sadly you can't pull data from AirServices Australia's system, but if you own an ADS-B receiver, you can connect it to EuroScope.

If you click on this button:

    471161229ebb4070811b9e2a99621ccd.png

Then click on two aircraft radar returns, a line will be drawn between them and will continually show the distance from one another.

If you double click and hold the screen, it will draw a ruler showing the direction and distance.

  13. Hello everyone,

As stated in the subject, my goal is to perform a simulation (ARR peak) using the TAAATS mod for Sydney APP, and it seems that I will need some help in order to achieve this... My plan is : first to learn how to use Euroscope, secondly learn how to make a scenario and finally, create one scenario using a real peak trafic data.

Till now I've installed the Euroscope 3.1 and Taaats mod, selected SYD APP  and downloaded a scenario for YSSY with some planes in it. BUT, even in a simulator session, I was unable to act on the acft via the label using the mouse. (Error msg : Function not eligible for this plan). The only way I have to control acft is using the 'simulator training dialog' window... which is more a simulation for a blip driver than an ATCO... I'm probably doing something wrong...

So, as I am still not able to run a simulation and give instructions to any tfc , it would probably be great to know how to do that first... :)

Any help will be appreciated. Thx.

    Hey mate,

The simulator mode in EuroScope is designed for two people to "operate" it. The operator, who is usually an instructor or mentor, controls the aircraft's actions from the simulator dialogue. They would be acting as all of the pilots.

The student controls the aircraft how they normally would on the network by simply setting instructions and then the pilots (Or mentor / instructor in this case) have to follow it.

EuroScope and the TAAATSMod are a very in-depth simulation of the real system. Before you can start changing aircraft data, you have to accept the aircraft under your control first, you do this by clicking the callsign of the aircraft's data block and then clicking "ACC". It will then turn green indicating you have full authority over the aircraft, you are the only one that can change flight data.

But anyway, running a simulator is a two man job since it's meant for training. You can probably ask for a mentoring session and I'll see if I can show you around EuroScope and the TAAATSMod, but running a scenario yourself will not be something that's easy to do.
