OZ Flightsim Expo is being run on the 17th and 18th of November, from 10am till 5pm. https://www.ozflightsim.com/ If you want to come down and discuss all things Flight Sim in person, then make your way to the Illawarra Regional Airport (YWOL) in person, and come to the HARS hangar main entrance (near the Qantas 747 tail). While we are on site, we will be showing off Vatsim at a display desk with several screens and an ATC station running a Controller client, a live Accumap sceen, and a flightsim, demonstrating how Vatsim Works. If you're interested, head on down! If you are unable to attend physically in Wollongong, why not help us demonstrate the region on Vatsim? Fly into, out of, or around Sydney YSSY or Control the Sydney TMA and surrounding Melbourne Centre position(s) If you'd like to control, let us know by filling in the form! https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScoEDBy7bFAPbtGSvGeSRSL6Npl4hYfq2tcx7s4DFEBSiFSNA/viewform Otherwise if you'd just like to fly your sim from home, then jump on and fly into the Sydney TMA!

It's Spilled Milk Run Monday, and based on the ruminations in This Thread: It's time to brush up on our Helicopter Operations around Sydney. Pilots see the Sydney ERSA (https://www.airservicesaustralia.com/aip/current/ersa/FAC_YSSY_16AUG2018.pdf ) especially from Pages 11 to 19 inclusive. Or Bankstown ERSA https://www.airservicesaustralia.com/aip/current/ersa/FAC_YSBK_16AUG2018.pdf pages 4 through 7 inclusive. If you absolutely cannot fly a Helicopter, then see if you can get a small prop aircraft into the Sydney Approach airspace. Suggested activities include: Sydney Harbour Scenic flights, at 1500ft (inside controlled airspace, VFR) Fly a practice ILS approach at Sydney Airport (IFR clearance required, even in a Cessna) - perhaps with an IFR departure from Bankstown in a piston single! or pick up IFR in the air! ATC (And pilot) instructions at https://operations.vatpac.org/documents/li/Sydney Area Local Instructions.pdf VTC available at https://www.airservicesaustralia.com/aip/current/aipchart/vtc/Sydney_VTC_24MAY2018.pdf Routes: Familiarise yourself with pages 18, 25, 27, 28 of https://operations.vatpac.org/documents/li/Sydney Area Local Instructions.pdf Why not try the Barracks 5, Maroubra 5, Cape Banks 5, Wanda 5, Georges River 5, Rosehill 5, Erskineville 5 or the Harbour Bridge 5 routes in a Helicopter? Land at Rosehill Racecourse, Transition from the Georges River 5 to Choppers South or return. Try the Wanda 5 to enter the Victor 1 northbound. Maybe the Barracks 5 on your way to Sydney Heads to transition onto the Bondi 5 southbound? Or hit Erskineville 5 for a landing at Star City Casino and Darling Harbour, or mix it with the traffic orbiting east of the Sydney Harbour Bridge for a close-up view of Sydney's famous Opera House. IFR ILS practice approaches at YSSY YSBK - YSSY BK DCT SY DCT BK (Remember to ensure your DG heading is aligned for potential vectors) Sydney Scenic flight from Bankstown YSBK - YSBK BK PRT HSY STI LRF HBB LRF HSY PSP BK (Ensure you get clearance to enter the Sydney TMA prior to proceeding south of Long Reef toward Harbour Bridge) Harbour Scenic One: Long Reef - Harbour Bridge - North Head - Long Reef Harbour Scenic Two: Long Reef - Chatswood - Manly Beach - Long Reef Fixed Based WorldFlight sims We will endeavour to have ML-WOL_CTR open for some runs between YSCB (or other nearby CTAF's such as Wagga, Albury or Newcastle) and YSSY. Remember, you can always go around. For the adventurous, why not try a touch and go at YSBK?
  3. By far the most popular of our regular weekly events, on any given Milk Run Monday you'll find the famous "J-Curve" between Melbourne and Sydney well serviced by both pilots and ATC. Not to be confused with our Spilled Milk Run Monday events, details of which can be found on the Spilled Milk Run page, the Milk Run invites you to fly in any direction between Sydney and Melbourne and all destinations in between (Canberra, Albury etc). Prefer to control? We recommend getting in early. ATC positions on Milk Run Monday are often scarce so definitely worth being an early bird. Traffic levels traditionally start to pick up at around 7:30pm AEST / AEDT and generally peak between 8:30pm and 9:30pm AEST / AEDT.

  11. Hi everyone. Weather forecast for tomorrow's event. A westerley jetstream provides a significant tail wind to aircraft flying Adelaide to Sydney, although the core of this is well north of the path, it should still provide up to 80kts in the corridor. The entire area between YSSY, YPAD and YMML sees some Clear Air Turbulence. Light turbulence forecast from FL245 - FL450 between YPAD and YMML, and between FL245-390 from YSCB to YMML. Sydney sees the tail end of a cold front move out as scattered cloud offshore in the early stages, and the wind moving from a Northerly to a heavy gusting westerly in the 2nd to 3rd hour of the event. Melbourne has a westerly from the onset of the event with low clouds, with possible showers later in the (Australian Saturday) morning, turning into moderate rain in the afternoon. Adelaide sees westerlies and showers of light rain, and cloud bases down to 2000ft scattered interspersed with moderate rain bringing visibility down to 5km occasionally toward the end of the event timeframe.

I'm looking to shift Milk Run Monday to Darwin/Alice Springs or similar on 22nd of June to make use of the Diversion routes and planning things as a "1 week early" Spilled Milk Run (Aka next Monday) Any notes you'd like to make sure I provide on the calendar/facebook entries? aka page 18 of https://www.airservicesaustralia.com/aip/current/sup/s15-h53.pdf
