  2. Hi Greg

What David has shown looks at best to be the bare minimum in graphics settings in the first reply and perhaps didnt even have Orbx scenery. It does not show any trees roads anything in the surrounding area. His second post and what James has stated is quite right and it is all relevant to what you set up in REX. There are so many variables to select from, Grass, Runway surfaces down to cracks materials down to tyre markings along it, the same too with taxiways - edges markings for holdpoints. Various sky, sun, clouds the list goes on and on.

I had just sent out my flightplan for my local flightsim group I fly with and was discussing the degree of difficulty of it with some of them then I got this one the next night. Brownie joined the group the other night so perhaps might care to join us on that night too :)

Mine will be coming up mid November with our flight group but we will be flying a 'Roulette' Pilatus PC9. We depart from flagstaff and first t&g is the vatpac flights destination but then we plummet down into the abyss to 3000' and chase the river through the canyon at approx 275kts and finish off at Las Vegas. No doubt am expecting an interesting to say the least flight

Especially when most of the gorge when using the orbx scenery shows it is barely wide enough for the planes wingspan but then again we will be banked 90 degrees this way and that way virtually all the way through. :D

I just now need to find a suitable program so as to record the flight and edit with an appropriate tune during playback.

  4. Hi Justin.

Sorry should have made my post a bit more clear as originally had no trouble communicating prior but it seemed strange that not just one but 3 of us all had similar FSX failures about the same point in our flights so just threw it out there to our more knowledgable members if anyone had prior knowledge or experienced similar issue. Friday night was a shocker and then some Sunday was great other than the initial fsx failure and was able to land first go (amazing how much better behaved and controllable the learjet is without autopilot still turned on)

  5. Wow what a mad night. With another 2 of my local flight sim group members joining in tonight it was to say the least a lot of fun, one was having difficulty at times keeping up with the radio chatter. Which also got a bit confused with frequencies being provided, ATC dropping in and out on FSINN ATC listing etc, subsequently questions to clarify the correct frequencies for Sydney not Canberra etc. But was all good.

Talk about hurry up and wait at Canberra, with 4 inbounds all coming in together it caused a bit of a back up on outbound a/c at the taxiway as shown in screenshot by Steve. Lucky I was the first one (VH-RJF) only 6 mins wait.

What a learning curve though with radio protocol, all added to the reality of the simulation, learning more and more all the time. I know one of the others from my group who has started to join in was having some difficulty keeping up with it all but am sure he had a lot of fun too.

One downside we all did however experience and not sure what the cause of it was though was that as we were tracking towards Camden (I had just turned at Camden) and on transmitting to Sydney Approach I had FSX fail and so did the other 2 when they contacted Sydney Approach also around the same point in their flight. As it was only 8.30pm we all restarted the flight again, lo and behold again on contacting Sydney Approach the other 2 members had FSX failures again when contacting Sydney Approach near Camden. Any ideas. I was able to complete my flight the second time but when I landed and exited 34L to the taxiway the a/c had no power at all to move and simply stopped !!! and no I didnt have parking brake on

Anyway all in all it was a great night and thanks to the ATC crew for their efforts

  6. Hi Steve

Thanks for the adhoc ATC sunday night. The run on Fri was quite interesting to say the least with 2 clearly different heading on approach to Woomera and made for some rather fun timing especially after the discussion on circuit directions. Sun night the group decided to do it in real time and made it a a night vfr which was very different and kept us busy watching instruments etc all the time. Looking forward to the next challenge

  7. David Zhong love the music as it was so appropriate to the madness in the witching hour to get there. Had an absolute blast and surprisingly only had a little bit of turbulence on final as was 2 mins after the jet on touchdown. When I arrived at my final destination of Mareeba after stopping off at Cairns I checked Servinfo which showed 51 aircraft in Australia so not sure if all were bound for Cairns. Being a relative newby wasnt sure when told on base in 1min that I should just turn to final then saw the 2 heavies inbound on finals so made sharp left turn to avoid and then tagged in behind the second one after it went past so not sure if that was correct protocol or not. Anyway huge praise to the ATC team as there were sure some callsigns and transmissions that were tough to understand and thought they did a great job. I won woohoo !!!!!!

  8. Due to traffic congestion' date=' the winners will be those arriving closest but fater 1130 UTC [/quote']

well blow me down as far as I can tell I might have snuck in at 2032hrs aest as had to wait for 2 heavies on finals that landed just prior to 2030hrs aest. For a relative newby what a blast with some 50 aircraft inbound on servinfo showing towards cairns talk about pressure for the team of atc a great job to those that make this a great simulation of what I could assume occurs in real life

  9. Congrats Leigh and Trent

Still being very much a newby to all this online flying well just flying generally what with trying to get my head around all the protocols and intracacies of proper RTP required all I can say is thank you to the team working the ATC what a job you did I had an absolute blast being involved with the VFR flight and didn't even twig that it was a Major event too but when I did finally manage to log in through another server I soon discovered that the sky was not quite so empty but all I can say is Wow. Great fun and held in good spirit by all involved
