  1. Don't forget all you Brisbane Air Traffic Controllers and Pilots next Sunday morning at 10am at the viewing area of the Brisbane Airport in Acacia St there is a gathering so we can put some faces to some names and spend a couple of hours watching aircraft arriving and departing.

There is at this stage about 26 International Arrival and Departures planned and about 50 Domestic Arrival and Departures planned between 9.30am and 1pm on that day so the should be plenty of activity happening. Lets hope Runway 19 is in use as it is very close to the viewing area.

If you have a Scanner please bring it along and also a cuppa and a bite to eat if you so desire.

There have been a few pilots have put there names forward but things change and as Grant Christensen has done his homework and has obtained some small bits and pieces for those who attend it would be great if we can have a rough head count as the week goes by.

Can you please add your name to the list and do a copy and paste when you do a reply to this post.

  2. Grant. Mate it is very hard to say just how many will turn up as there is still two weeks to go and people do change there mind but i am sure if i as for a head count say the week before the event you should get some sort of numbers to play with. Thanks anyway for doing your bit for the meeting. Lets just keep in touch via this forum and i am sure we will have at least a dozen or more. One thing is for sure it will go ahead no matter how much interest we have. Looking forward to meeting you in person Grant. Regards. Col.

  3. Gents. Sorry if any of you got the feeling it was for guys only. It would be great for any of you to bring along your wife or partner or girlfriend or lover and the kids if you want. The only reason i never mentioned it was i thought we can as a group after we have all met talk about future get togethers like BBQs in a park or anything that takes your fancy. Regards. Col.

  4. Brad. Sorry about the bad timing mate but as sure as eggs we are not going to suit everyone. If all goes well we will have more for sure.

Jackson. It would be great to meet you and if you need a pickup from the terminal as the viewing area is quite a good walk away just let us know.

  5. A few of us Brisbane Pilots have been discussing over the last few weeks about having a get together of some sort so we can put a few names to a few faces.

We have decided to make the meeting place the viewing area at the Brisbane Airport on the Sunday morning 21st August at around 10am.

It is easy to find as it is right up the sea end next to Runway 19 on Acaica St.

Bring along a thermos of Coffee or Tea and your Scanner and lets enjoy a couple of hours watching the activity at Brisbane Airport.

If you are interested in joining us could you please reply to this post with your name so we can see what sort of numbers we are likely to have.

If it all goes well who knows what sort of activity we can organize for future get togethers. Regards. Col Williams. YM123

  6. Andrew & Nick. Thanks guys for your comments. After trying for some time to set it up right and with no luck at all i did a complete reinstall and fixed the problem straight away. Why i dont know. I guess thats why people who play around with computers dont have much hair left. Regards. Col.

  7. I have just purchased the Carenado Cessna Skylane 182 RG II and while it is a fantastic aircraft to fly i am having problems trying to keep it on a level altitude.

I am also using FSnav and while i can get it to track using Auto pilot i cant get it to hold a height at all.

I guess the real 182 does not have Auto altitude on it but there must be a way to get it running.

Any thoughts would be great. Col.

  8. Can someone please tell me at what flight level a Dash-8-100 would fly at on say a Tamworth to Sydney or a Sydney to Melbourne flight.

Most of my 737-700 flights are at FLT320 but i am not sure if that applies to smaller aircraft.

  9. Thanks for all of your help guys. Ok what i did next was to uninstall FSinn as that was when the problem started and yes it fixed it straight away.

I would like to be able to run or at least have the choice of running either programs but i also want to see the different liverys. Maybe i will just stick to using SB3. Once again thanks for your comments. YM123 Col.

  10. I have just reinstalled them and i still have the same problem with all aircraft showing the Compass livery. I have set it up as

    OCA

    VIP

    SBX

in the settings but still have the problem. Anyone got any ideas on what to do to fix the problem.

  11. Can someone please tell me where to go to download the Vatpac Livery for SB3 that was put out. I have just done a complete reinstall of FS9 and all of the aircraft are showing up as Compass aircraft. I want to reinstall the livery to see if i can fix the problem. Thanks. Col.

  12. Lionel. Sorry mate but i cant but i do know the runways were not replaced so the default AFCAD file within FS9 should still work. Give it a try with some AI aircraft and lets know how you get on.

  13. Way back in 2001 I created some scenery for Archerfield and last night I decided to download it from Flightsim.com and much to my amazement it looks quite good in FS9. It is nothing like some of the scenery that is produced today but if you want to make Archerfield look a little better than just runways and grass then go to Flightsim.com. Search under Colin Williams and download it and give it a shot. Please dont abuse me for not having all the buildings in the right place.

  14. I would like to start doing some long haul flying online but i am connected using ISDN. After three hours there is a cut off. What are the rules regarding flying the first leg online and after cutoff rejoining for the final couple of hours flying before landing.

  15. Ian. Mate thanks for the quick reply. I am downloading them right now and will give them a try before i look any further into spending my hard earned money on Activesky. Regards. Col

  16. Can anyone tell me just where i can purchase Activesky in Australia on a CD as i am only on an ISDN connection and it would take forever to download off the net. There must be a shop somewhere in Australia who stocks Flightsim software that i can order online. Maybe there is someone out there who owns a copy and is willing to sell it to me. From what i read it really makes online flying a whole lot more realistic.

  17. Twas me involved in the Whoops. I was taxing down to the holding point when i thought i would use my hat switch to have a bit of a look around.

Not a nice sight to see a Conquest bearing down on me at a great rate of knots and i knew my brakes would not pull me up in time so i hit the Y key just in time to let him go by. I got over it ok but a few of my passengers say they will never travel on Compass Airlines again. Had two flights Friday night and really enjoyed it. Thanks to everyone involved. Roll on the next one.
