Yep, I had the same problem. Google led me to https://forums.vatsim.net/topic/32848-authentication-failed-a-task-was-canceled-upon-connection-attempt/
To fix my issue, I had to display the network properties for the Ethernet adapter that connects to my router and turn off "Internet Protocol Version 6(TCP/IPv6)", save it and then open the properties again and turn it back on (can't remember if I rebooted after this).
Prior to doing this my PC failed the TCP/IPv6 test at ipv6-test.com. After cycling it, the test passed and vPilot authenticated. I suspect a Windows update may have caused the issue.

1. INTRODUCTION:
1.1 Elements of RAAFvirtual.org (VSOA) and will be conducting a wide range of military/formation flying training in the airspace surrounding RAAF Base Tindal.1.2 Training period is from 22nd July 2022 until 06 August 2022.
1.3 The Training will involve F/A18, F35, HAWK127, E737, KC30A, C17A, C130/C30J, C27J, B350, P8, PC21 and AW139 aircraft operating from RAAF Base Tindal.
2. AIRSPACE ACTIVATION
2.1 The following Restricted Areas will be activated between 22nd July 2022 and 06 August 2022.YBBB/R225 A to F

4. CONTROLLER INFORMATION

Removal of VATPAC Euroscope Package and Controller Client Updater
in Controller Clients
Posted
Euroscope is no longer a supported VATPAC client. If you installed
you can now remove these from your computer by going to Windows Settings\Apps, search for VATPAC, select the above items and click "Uninstall"
Removing the VATPAC Euroscope Package only removes the VATPAC folder from within the Documents\Euroscope folder. All the original euroscope files will remain. If you want to remove Euroscope, unistall it in Settings\App
