Hello all,
It saddens me to bring this news but I have received Scott's letter of resignation today. He has a lot of personal reasons for doing this and with respect to his privacy I will not be making them public. He can do this if he feels the need. Interim measures are being discussed at present and as soon as I know and have a concrete plan in place you will all be informed.
I would just like to thank Scott and wish him the very best for the future

Hello all staff,
I have had a chat with the Division Director and he was going to post this but he has been caught up in a work incident and is unable to get at the forum for a while. As he wanted you to be informed straight away he has asked me to post it.
Yesterday I was forced to make a quick decision that I was not very comfortable with. A rather nasty situation was developing on the Discord and I needed to stop it quickly before it turned into a more disgusting situation than it already was. I took the unusual decision for myself and that was to interfere in a Divisional matter, a right that I have but hoped I would never have to use. I have a duty of care to everyone in this Region and that is a responsibility that I take very seriously indeed.
I would like to thank everyone for the messages of support and suggestions and to my delight every message was in good taste and constructive. I have listened to your concerns and I am now acting on them in the way I think will be the best solution. I know I will not please everyone but I do hope that you will understand and support me in this.
The server will not be deleted just simply locked. Until the current situation cools down it will remain like this as I do not want anymore unpleasant situations to arise. Once I am satisfied that we are in a better place I will ask all staff not just Board members to vote on whether or not Discord should return. This will make the decision a democratic decision and not someone dictating what will happen. If the Staff wish to open it again a new set of guidelines will be drawn up so that all staff and members know exactly where they stand. What is acceptable and what is not. This will also include a guide for staff on how suspensions will be dealt with. This will not be one persons decision but a collective decision.
Once again thank you for your messages today and if anyone has any questions feel free to message me or Scott and we will respond as soon as we can.

VATPAC are inviting applications for the position of Director of Events VATPAC5. This is a senior position on the VATPAC Board of Directors. Read and apply yourself to the duties and criteria listed below before applying.

Duties
- Facilitates the smooth operation of all events within the VATPAC airspace.
- Responsible for the organisation, promotion and execution of regularly occurring and one-off official VATPAC events.
- Acts as a first point of contact and is responsible for aiding other divisions and organisations wishing to hold events in VATPAC airspace.
- Develops relationships with other divisions' and organisations' event staff to arrange support for VATPAC events as well as provide support for their events.
- Reports quarterly on events activity and participation within the division.
- Liaises with Director Operations for coordination of online ATC support of VATPAC events.
- Works with the Director Operations to ensure that VATPAC event information is promulgated to Partner Virtual Airlines.
- Identifies and champions potential improvements for the organisation, promotion, and execution of events in VATPAC airspace.
- Responsible for the Maintenance of the VATPAC Events webpage(s).
- Responsible for the promotion of VATPAC events to social media sites (such as VATSIM Forums, Vroute events, VATTASTIC Event, VATPAC, VATOCE and VATSIM Facebook pages) as required.
- Maintains an online presence of 5-10 hours per month on the VATSIM network.
Essential Criteria- Be a member of the VATPAC Division of VATSIM for a period of at least 12 months.
- Be a member of good standing in VATSIM for at least 12 months at the time of application.
- Must have at least an S3 rating.
- Be able to work well with other board members and the VATPAC community as a whole.
- Have ability to maintain focus and organisation over the long run.
- Be able to work well within a voluntary organisation.
- Be able to work as a Team Player
- To have the ability to plan both commercial and military events
- Be able to plan Social Get Together Events
All applications will be treated in confidence and should be submitted by email to director[at]vatpac.org before 23:59 hours AEST Sunday 9th September 2018. Applications received after this date will not be considered. The applicant should include any experience and examples of events they have previously organised along with any experience they have of managing a small team. -
Hi all,
I am posting this NOTAM to quell any speculation, keep the membership up to date and to explain why I have been doing all the recent NOTAMS . The Division Director has been suffering from ill health and has asked me for a LOA for a minimum of 2 weeks so that he can fully recover. He has asked me to step in and look after the Division until he returns. His email address has been redirected to mine so that any correspondence can be actioned.
I am sure you will all join me in wishing Scott a speedy recovery and I look forward to him returning fully fit to fulfil his duties.

Today I received Callum's resignation from the VATPAC Board. Callum has a new position on the VATSIM Marketing team and he would like to concentrate on this. I would like to thank him for his time on the Board and wish him the very best for his role at Marketing. Callum was responsible for many a great event at VATPAC. He will be staying on as an instructor for ATC and Pilot training.

Please join me in congratulating Mt Scott Thorpe on his appointment as the new Divisional Director of VATPAC. Scott has a great deal of experience on the network as pilot,ATC and supervisor and also brings with him a substantial amount of experience in management in his professional life.

I am now in a position to announce that David Zhong has agreed to step up as acting Director of Division. I would like to personally thank David for agreeing to help VATPAC out in its time of need.
