  1. An excellent post Callum!

It was great meeting everyone on the weekend and the live stream was a bit of fun. Cheers to Eoin, Callum, Harrison, Trent, Chris & Rowan for helping make the weekend relaxing and enjoyable. (I loved the safety briefing Callum) I will admit I did learn a fair amount from IVAO and its good to see our common love for this hobby. Although someone twisted my words from the live stream I do believe that it is great the areas they are trying to build upon their network and I commend them for them activity filling my questions and going out of their way to get me the answers I had asked from previous questions.

It was great meeting you all and I hope to see you all again next year at the Expo.

    Cheers

    Hi Bailey,

My understanding is that Noumea Class D TMA is covered by Tontouta Approach and that the smaller towers provide an ATS service within a Class D CTR only.

Has this changed?  If so I would need information on the dimensions of the airspace and who controls it.

    Afternoon Greg,

From this AIP document https://www.sia.aviation-civile.gouv.fr/dvd/eAIP_08_NOV_2018/PAC-N/AIRAC-2018-11-08/html/eAIP/Cartes/NWWL/AD 2 NWWL ATT 01.pdf
It appears that it might possibly be a ATS position but then again doesn't seem 100% clear. It does have a temporary RNAV in place at the moment which makes me think it might possibly just be a regular tower. Another supporting thing I can see is that on the IFR Departures it does give this on the AIP website. Since I'm not a New Cale local I'm not 100% sure on these ATS procedures

RWY 12 : Climb MAG 123° up to 1000 (906) then direct route up to enroute safety altitude.

RWY 30 : Climb MAG 303° up to 1000 (906) then direct route up to enroute safety altitude.

Even if this tower is just providing basic info for pilots would it be possible to get the airspace added? It is already in the Procedural Tower List here https://vatpac.org/operations/procedural-towers/ Which makes me believe that it could possibly be providing like Melbourne or Sydney just a landing clearance and departure instructions for pilots.

I can clearly see that approach is done by NWWW_APP. I have measured out the airspace with a bit of PS and Navigraph and attached below is the picture from it.

  3. Try using this website called: www.google.com.au it legit has everything so you don't need to keep posting on here.
Here is an example of what I google'd and this came up instantly.

Hello, The other day I attempted to give an aircraft a VOR RADIAL to follow outbound from Launny, But it seemed that the radial was off

You need to get a compass and a monitor or a laptop you just require the compass and the monitor/laptop screen to be pointing true north for it to it to align since Euroscope is based off the the magnetic degrees received by the computer through the new features within Euroscope. Its a bit difficult to get working but when you get it sorted you will get the correct VOR Radials :)

  5. and also please stop mass posting random stuff on the forums. Its just gotten to be a bit of a joke at the moment, yes they are here to post stuff but not as constantly as you do. Heck most of the stuff could be posted on facebook or even on yahoo answers.

    Cheers,

  6. Hey Tristan,

Believe it or not there is actually a study method listed on the home page of the TMA course! I was in shock when I saw that it was on the home page and surprised it told me how to study the course effectively as well.

I attached a photo of the study techniques

Good luck on it. As Josh said above if you get stuck email him :)

I completely agree but I think a policy is required to set out how exactly these can be used considering there is nothing in the vMATS and literally only worldflight NOTAMs that don't fit the alias anyway.

I don't think it needs a policy it should be put in the tower course and in the vMATS a policy would just be a waste of time when amendments to the vMATS and moodle could be made quicker than getting such a policy approved. Within the tower course at least you can set out the requirements and what is required to use it and also a video could be made such like the ones in the S3 course.

  8. I know they use PDC's to every available aircraft at YBCG. When I was in the tower the only aircraft which didn't receive it was VFR or IFR props. So its use daily on VATPAC airspace would technically increase the realism and if a pilot can't read or understand whats in the PDC then that's something we should start to teach in the Pilot Training Courses @Joshua Micallef. As for if pilots are unable to realise what to do at the end of a PDC when it says "CTC ACD ON [ACD FREQ] FOR READBACK... PDC END" then thats a tad concerning since it states what and who to contact when you're ready. Rather than a policy I think this should be included into the pilot tutorials or into pilot training to help get newer pilots and people who might not necessarily know what they are doing with PDC's familiar.

Thanks just my thoughts on it though.

Pacific Airspace Diagrams & Controller Positions  https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B_Du2RaHQXG6aTQ3elM4aHBGZVE

That's the result of  Sean's work and a few others.   Things may have changed slightly in the ensuing 18 months.

Does this allow for it to be opened even though it is not within the Controller Positions list? That's my main query with this as I am not sure if I should go off controller positions or the publicised airspace diagrams?

    Thanks :)

  10. Hey,

I was looking through the Airspace Charts for the Pacific Island area and found the picture below.

    https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/433175607883464704/483180854114385920/unknown.png

I saw this and decided to look into the controller positions and saw that it was not listed there as NVVV_CTR and NVVV only went up to APP. I looked in the Sector File and saw NVVV_CTR within them with the correct frequency and login sign. I then proceeded to look at Navigraph and saw this photo.

    http://prntscr.com/kmyzf9

With this Airspace stating "Class D OCA exists from A095 to FL245 where a procedural control service is provided by NVVV_CTR (Port Vila Control)." This obviously requires the Oceanic Endorsement but on top of that would this be classed as a Non-Standard Position and would it be added to the Controller Position in the near future?

    Thanks,

    Bailey

  11. Hey guys,

I just wanted to say thanks to everyone who controlled this afternoon and provided ATC services! A special thanks to Ryan for dealing with my speed which turned out to turn into my Landing Rate.

I also want to give a shoutout to my friend Alex who slid off the runway when he touched down. :) unknown-8.png.d0ab9cd52e5b5ba0901ef31fa25f654a.png

It was a great event and I look forward to the next one thanks to everyone who planned behind the scenes. My first Panic Stations and I loved it & I look forward to the next major event.
