  9. Good Morning Everyone, It is with deep regret that I announce to the VATPAC Community the departure of @Nicholas Naumovski from the Events Department. Nic has been involved in the Events Department since February 2019 and since his appointment has been a pivotal member in some of the more behind the scenes work of the Events Department. Over the past 6 months Nic has found limited availability and with his recent acceptance into his dream University course, he is now unable to dedicate any more time to VATPAC. Thank you for all your work Nicholas! It has been great watching you progress as much as you have over the previous two years and wish you all the best for what is to come.

With another year comes another rendition of one of VATPAC’s most popular events – Panic Stations. No matter the aircraft or departure airport, this event is sure to please your inner control freak. On the 12th of March, 1913, Canberra was officially named as Australia’s new capital city, beating out both Melbourne and Sydney. Almost exactly 108 years later, we invite you to the Bush Capital for a beautiful and challenging arrival through the Brindabella Ranges, with full ATC expected between 0900z and 1200z. Event Details: Panic Stations is a simple, yet quite challenging event. Get as many aircraft flying to the destination airport as possible, with only one objective. Arrive at or after the target time to enjoy bragging rights... Well, until the next panic stations event that is! For this round, VATPAC will be returning to the traditional Panic Stations format that we know the community has grown to love over the past decade! Available titles for people to win during this event; 1x JET and 1x NON-JET Winner Touchdown time for this event is 1030z Expect delays as we try and accommodate everyone whilst maintaining separation standards! We look forward to seeing you all there! Routes: To make it easier both on you and us, we recommend the following routes for flying into Canberra. We have included the STAR you can expect at the end of the recommended route. This may be changed by the controller depending on traffic flow. By far our most popular of all the weekly events, on any given Monday you'll find the famous "J-Curve" between Melbourne and Sydney well serviced by both pilots and ATC. Not to be confused with out Spilled Milk Run Monday events held on the last Monday of every month, pilots can expect ATC services as you fly between Melbourne and Sydney, or any destination in between (Canberra, Albury etc). Traffic Levels usually begin to pick up around 0800z and peak between 0900-1030z. Routes: We recommend the following routes between Melbourne, Canberra and Sydney. YMML-YSSY: ML DOSEL Y59 RIVET TESAT YMML-YSCB: ML DOSEL Y59 ARRAN POLLI CB YSSY-YMML: TESAT WOL H65 RAZZI Q29 ML YSSY-YSCB: TESAT WOL H65 RAZZI CB YSCB-YMML: CB TANTA Q29 LIZZI ML YSCB-YSSY: CB TANTA W423 CULIN Y59 RIVET TESAT Controllers: Controllers who wish to reserve a position to control during this event are encouraged to apply via https://events.vatpac.org/. After the controller roster is released on Saturday evening, no controllers will be added to the roster. Positions that do not have a nominated controller (i.e. no controller assigned on the position) will remain free for all controllers available on the day to control. *Non-Standard positions* will be available for opening depending on traffic levels. They may only be opened once all of the rostered positions are filled. Please see a member of the Board of Directors, or a C3 rated controller to be granted permission to open a non-standard position. Please review the controller NOTAM here for detailed information about which Non-Standard Positions are automatically authorized.
