I thought only ATC could vector/deviate aircraft?
Yes, but that doesn't stop some people from writing stupid things on UNICOM...
That doesn't stop anyone ignoring them.

I don't think this is necessary, this creates a hostile attitude from IVAO, we shouldn't meddle in their affairs as they don't in ours. Their sectors are theirs and are not there for other networks to bash on. We both have the same wants; the want for a fun and realistic online aviation network.

That was the last one

The problem is that while it is a good idea, whether it will actually be used is a different scenario. It will probably not get used at all by people and just be for cosmetic purposes.
-
Great Work guys. Will these sectors be the ones in use during world flight? I assume that they would be.
-
I'm assuming you guys are still working on the roster for the return?
EDIT: I can't read.

When I try doing this, if I switch to a frequency with a controller on I get an error "Specified voice channel does not exist." This error appears only on vPilot

It's called Spilled Milk Run, runs the last Monday of every month
-
More Milk Runs! ;D
More Pop up events!
Realistically though, someone recently mentioned in the teamspeak about an idea of doing TMA Event (Apologies for whoever said that. I can't remember ;D) Something where we staff up all airfields in a Certain TMA and we focus on that TMA.

Create your own version of UniATIS and name it E_onATIS

Crosswind = speed * sin(a)
Headwind = speed * cos(a)
Where a is the difference between runway heading and wind direction
Eg. Runway 34L is heading 335 and wind is 350. Difference is 15 degrees.

Hey Just a heads up. Eoin Motherway is the acting AIS director.
-
It's still on our forums.
-
If you need a hand just let me know, I'd love to see some popular Class D Aerodromes fully 'sector filed'
-
This is gonna be great guys. Can't wait.

Because the Canberra to Sydney flight is so short they get given a star while in Canberra. Canberra though wouldn't have any say on the runway to expect in Sydney
-
Does an enroute controller providing top-down approach services to Canberra need to call themselves to coordinate departures?
Assuming only BIK and SNO are online. Snowy would be acting as APP. If there are departures to the north they would contact BIK.
-
In Reference to Section 4.1.3 of the Canberra TWR/APP Document.
Departure coordination
In order to expedite aircraft climb, all departures shall be coordinated
(regardless of whether it is on a Non-Coordination Route).
CBE: Departure QFA455
BIK: QFA455 climb to [amended] FL270
Which means that the Approach Controller asks the Centre Controller what flight level to clear them to and then the approach controller relays that to the pilot.

This is a really good thing, as based from experience not everyone would see this post, so if anyone acknowledges the change in the ATC chat make sure them to let them know about this post.

Hi, I'd love if once you finished with the Sydney area if it would in anyway be possible for you to do the Melbourne Area. That would be awesome. Thanks

This sounds like a really great place to fly. Eoin has been talking non-stop about how good Iceland is. Good Luck to him. I might try and fly at that time.
Newb Question re ATC and IFR
in Airspace

The different parts of the country are split up into sectors as detailed here, the main sectors used on a daily basis are the darker lined ones and those are what are used by the CTR controllers. Here on vatsim we have a top down procedure meaning that a controller covers all the positions below it such as Sydney Approach covering tower, ground etc. Approach usually covers 50nm from the major airport. It's a bit hard to explain but usually you can ask the controller if they will cover you and they would tell you, the important thing is that it's okay to ask questions.
