VATSIM First Wings is the perfect place to start your VATSIM journey, with experienced and patient ATC who are dedicated to helping you start off the right way.
Have you made a VATSIM account, but feel intimidated every time you try to speak on the frequency? Or have you yet to make an account in fear that you haven't got what it takes yet? Then this is the event for you!
VATSIM First Wings is the perfect place to start your VATSIM journey, with experienced and patient ATC who are dedicated to helping you start off the right way. You will also have the aid of VATSIM's very own pilot mentors, from the VATSIM Pilot Training Department, who will answer all the questions you might have.
Feel like flying in Australia? VATPAC is opening up the airspace between Adelaide (YPAD) and Canberra (YSCB), so you can enjoy a beautiful scenic trip with excellent and experienced ATC.
Note: This event is focused on beginners in the VATSIM environment. If you are a seasoned pilot we ask you to avoid the event airspace in order for us to focus on the beginners to VATSIM. Thank you for your understanding.
Event Details:
- Newbie pilots who want to learn and gain confidence flying on the VATSIM network with live ATC.
- Experienced controllers who are patient and willing to help newbie pilots on the network.
The event commences at 0200z with ATC requested/available until around 0700z.
It is recommended you book a slot using the VATSIM booking system, although it is not mandatory. Please be aware that you may experience delays if you fly an event route without a slot. Slots will be available from the 26th of March 2022.

Routes:
We recommend using the following routes which are suitable for aircraft such as a Boeing 737, Airbus A320, regional jet, business jet or turboprop.

ATC:
Controllers interested in controlling the event are encouraged to submit their ATC Applications here. Applications will remain open until three days before the event (06APR22), after which the roster will be released and available for viewing. Please keep in mind that slot availability will be dependent on the number of applications. Non-standard positions (marked with *) can be opened in accordance with the Activation of Non-Standard Positions NOTAM. Any Non-Standard positions (marked with a $) must receive approval from a staff member or C3 controller prior to being opened.
