Friday Night Ops is a weekly event run by VATUSA normally visiting places all over the United States! This time around, Friday Night Ops are coming to the land downunder and flying in Australia between Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide. Flight Planning In Australia, flight plans are filed in the ICAO method, with the SID/STAR not included with the initial filing. This will be provided by ATC on contact with clearance delivery (for departure) and with Centre, usually prior to initial descent clearance. PDC's in Australia are quite common with controllers handing them out. In Australia all pilots must read back PDC's to the delivery controller. When reading back a PDC, you do not need to read back everything. All you need to read back as a pilot is: Squawk, Departure Procedure, Runway and advise your bay number. [PILOT] "Melbourne Delivery, Qantas 436 with PDC readback." [ML_DEL] "Qantas 436 g'day Melbourne Delivery, go ahead with PDC readback"[PILOT] "Qantas 436 is cleared to Sydney, DOSEL1 departure, runway 27, squawk 4457; bay C3"[ML_DEL] "Qantas 436" Routes: VATPAC recommends the following routes flying into and out of Sydney, Melbourne, and Adelaide.
