NOTAM: WorldFlight 2019 Departures

1. Introduction

Worldflight 2019 will depart from Sydney (YSSY) on the morning of the 3rd November (Local Time) and travel across the Tasman to Christchurch.

VATPAC will provide ATC services for the departure legs using controllers who have registered to control via the VATPAC Events website (https://events.vatpac.org).

This NOTAM contains details of controller positions reserved for use during the event and procedures developed and implemented to manage traffic levels throughout the day.  This content is relevant to both ATC and pilots participating in Worldflight legs.

2. Reserved Controller Positions

The following control positions are hereby reserved under VATPAC Controller Positions and Ratings Policy 4.1 for Worldflight operations during the indicated times (format DDHHMM eg. 022030 refers to 2030z on the 2nd November UTC).

022030 until 030230

SY_DEL, SY_GND, SY-E_GND, SY_TWR, SY-E_TWR, SY_APP, SY_DEP, ML-WOL_CTR, ML-OCN_CTR, BN-MDE_CTR, BN-TSN_CTR, BN-HWE_CTR.

 

3. Worldflight ATC Coordinators

The following persons are nominated Worldflight ATC Coordinators.

  • Mr Callum Strawbridge (VATPAC1)
  • Mr Harrison Scott (VATPAC2)

3.1. Un-rostered or unfilled ATC Positions

While unreserved ATC positions may be filled on a first-come, first-served basis, any un-rostered controller wishing to contribute on the day should contact any of the above coordinators to offer and coordinate their services.

4 Procedures

4.1. Pre-Departure Clearance

Pre-Departure Clearance (PDC) may be available on request via VATSIM client based PVT TEXT only.  PDC via external ACARS clients is NOT guaranteed.

4.2. Departure Procedures – Sydney

  • ACFT that operationally REQ RWY 34L/16R should connect at the INTL Apron.
  • Coded clearance WORLDFLIGHT ROUTE 1 AVBL to all aircraft planned via “CAWLY M636 PLUGA N750 VANDA”. Pilots should request coded clearance using the phraseology:

“SYDNEY DELIVERY, QFA25 REQUEST CLEARANCE WORLDFLIGHT ROUTE 1.”


Clearance will be provided as follows (see below for SID and climb instructions):


“QFA25, CLEARED TO CAIRNS VIA WORLDFLIGHT ROUTE 1, RWY nn SQUAWK nnnn.”


Mode 9 (34L&R Departures)

  • Aircraft departing 34L assigned RIC5 Departure RADAR transition, climb via SID to 5000.
  • Aircraft departing 34R assigned MARUB6 Departure, RADAR transition, climb via SID to 5000.
  • Contact SY_DEP 123.000 airborne.

Mode 10 (16L&R Departures)

  • Aircraft departing 16R assigned KAMPI5 Departure RADAR Transition, climb via SID to 5000.
  • Aircraft departing 16L assigned KEVIN6 Departure RADAR Transition, climb via SID to 5000.
  • Contact SY_DEP 123.000 airborne.
