  5. https://panic.vatpac.org/ VATPAC has teamed up with Indonesia vACC to provide a major event in Bali! It's time to get your Bali scenery out with full ATC available between 0800-1100Z on Saturday 20th January. About Panic Stations The idea is devilishly simple. Get as many aircraft as possible to try and arrive at a destination airport, touching down at the same time. It's up to ATC to sort it out and ensure correct procedures and separation standards are adhered to at all times. The first jet and non-jet aircraft to touch down at/after the target time enjoy bragging rights....until the next Panic Stations. Pilots can expect non-standard arrivals, plenty of holding and/or speed restrictions. Controllers can expect to work hard, often in non-standard or non-radar positions. It is an extremely satisfying experience as a controller sitting back after a Panic Stations event having adhered to published standards and procedures at all times. ATC Details We are awaiting confirmation on how many controllers Indonesia vACC will be providing. We have been granted special permission to assist them with our own controllers should they not be able to fill all positions. Further information will be posted should ATC be required. At this point, please don't submit an ATC application. Full details, pilot briefing and charts available at https://panic.vatpac.org/
  6. Congratulations to Michael who recently achieved his Tower Rating. Coming to a tower near you!

  10. NOTAM 22OCT17 - WorldFlight 2017 Procedures in VATPAC Airspace 1. INTRODUCTION On Sunday 05NOV17 at approximately 0900 AEDT, WorldFlight will commence the annual around-the-world flight. The initial legs will transit through the following VATPAC airports; Sydney (YSSY), Brisbane (YBBN), Cairns (YBCS) and Port Moresby. WorldFlight will re-enter VATPAC Airspace on Saturday 11NOV17 at approximately 0800 en route to Darwin (YPDN). They will also transit through Alice Springs (YBAS), Adelaide (YPAD), Melbourne (YMML) before arriving in Sydney (YSSY). It is anticipated that significant traffic levels will be present along the routes to these locations. Past events have seen in excess of 200 aircraft on the first and final legs through Sydney. This NOTAM will provide pilots with information about ATC requirements with regard to air traffic management. Pilots should endeavor to comply with these requirements to minimize delays and disruption. 2. PRE-DEPARTURE CLEARANCES ATC may elect to issue pre-departure clearance instead of a normal airways clearance. This is only available to pilots that have planned via the routes listed in section 3. When pre-departure clearances are in use, pilots will be notified by ATIS, for example: "PDC AVBL. ACFT IN RECEIPT OF PDC TO MNTN 5000FT" In order to reduce radio congestion, pilots of eligible aircraft shall contact Clearance Delivery by text only on frequency chat and request "PDC REQ" with the ATIS identifier. For Example: "PDC REQ with INFO A". ATC will respond with one of the following: "[CALLSIGN] [sID] [RWY] [sQUAWK]" (Example - "QFA123, ENTRA5 DEP, RWY 34L, SQUAWK 4444") ^IF PDC AVAILABLE or "[CALLSIGN], PDC NOT AVBL, CONTACT ME ON 133.800" (Example - "QFA123 PDC NOT AVBL, CONTACT ME ON 133.800") ^IF PDC NOT AVAILABLE Please note that ATC will not actively be checking flight planned routes for conformance. Pilots must not use this procedure unless they have planned via an approved route. Failure to do so will result in the clearance being invalid and may result in significant delays. ATC will require readback of the SID (Including runway and/or transition if issued) and transponder code as received from your PDC message. Your clearance read back should also include any other requirements and must state your current parking position/bay. You should read back on the Clearance Delivery Frequency prior to pushback. An example of PDC readback is below: PILOT: [AIRPORT] Delivery, [CALLSIGN] PDC Readback. (Example - "Sydney Delivery, QFA1 PDC Readback") ATC: [CALLSIGN] [LOCATION] Delivery (Example - QFA1, Sydney Delivery) PILOT: [CALLSIGN], [RUNWAY] [DEPARTURE] [sQUAWK] [GATE NUMBER] (Example - QFA1, RWY 34R ENTRA5 Departure, SQUAWK 3214, Bay 31 ATC: [CALLSIGN] Once you have completed this process, you can contact the appropriate ground frequency for further requests. 3. APPROVED FLIGHT ROUTES FOR VATPAC AIRSPACE The following routes are the approved routes for aircraft operating in VATPAC Airspace. Pilots can file alternative routes however they will be more likely to receive delays. These routes are the only approved PDC routes. (a) YSSY-YBBN: DCT ENTRA Y245 BANDA H185 BN DCT (b) YBBN-YBCS: DCT CORAL Q26 UPOLO DCT © YBCS-AYPY: DCT CS R210 PY DCT (d) AYPY-WABB: DCT EMPRA B462 OSMON DCT OBASA DCT (e) WADD-YPDN: DCT GOMAT W33 KPG A458 KILIK UY85 CURLY UY91 DONYA DCT (f) YPDN-YBAS: DCT DN Y25 BEBUX UY83 GREGA J251 AS DCT (g) YBAS-YPAD: DCT SARAH J251 OJJAY DCT (h) YPAD-YMML: DCT BENDO Y12 ARBEY DCT (i) YMML-YSSY: DCT DOSEL Y59 RIVET DCT 4. SYDNEY CLEARANCE DELIVERY Two clearance delivery frequencies will be in use at Sydney. To balance radio traffic and workload, it is essential that pilots use the correct frequency for their parking location. Aircraft parked WEST of runway 16R/34L - use 133.800 MHz Aircraft parked EAST of runway 16R/34L - use 127.600 MHz 5. REPORTING "READY" Pilots should not report "ready" to the tower controller until: (a) the aircrat is at or approaching the holding point for departure. (b) The aircraft is the first aircraft at the holding point. © The aircraft is configured such that the pilot can taxi the aircraft onto the runway and take-off without delay. 6. AIRCRAFT CLIMB AND DESCENT SPEEDS After departure, pilots of jet aircraft are expected to utilize either a standard NADP1 or NADP2 climb profile. In any case, unless otherwise published in the allocated SID or advised by ATC, upon passing 3000FT above aerodrome level, pilots are expected to accelerate to 250KT or minimum clean speed (whichever is higher) without delay. Pilots should nofity ATC immediately if they expect to deviate from a normal climb profile. On descent, pilots of Jet aircraft are expected to descend at Mach 0.78/280KT above 10,000FT AMSL. Pilots must comply with Standard Terminal Area Arrival Speeds (STAAS) listed on STAR charts unless an alternative clearance is issued by ATC. Pilots must notify ATC immediately if they are unable to comply with STARS or other speed restrictions issued by ATC. 7. HOLDING FUEL During legs within VATPAC administered airspace, ATC anticipate a maximum airborne delay of 1 hour. Pilots should carry sufficient holding fuel to absorb this delay. 8. DISTRIBUTION This NOTAM is issued by VATSIM Australia Pacific (VATPAC) and shall be distributed via: (a) VATPAC Forums (b) VATPAC Facebook © VATSIM Forums (d) VATSIM Facebook (e) WorldFlight Forums (f) WorldFlight Facebook 9. CANCELLATION This NOTAM self-cancels at 12 NOVEMBER 17 2359 AEDT.

  22. Ladies and Gentleman, On Friday 14th July 2017, Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane welcomes VATUSA to Friday Night Ops. Kicking off at 2300z, The sun will have started heating up the Winter temperatures of the Australian East Coast. VATPAC has your ATC Covered manning airspace between Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane! We invite and encourage you to fly between the three airports, In any order you wish. You should allow approx 1.3-1.5 hours flying time for Jets between any given pair. Scenery - Melbourne Tullamarine International (YMML) Payware YMML ORBX Direct Freeware YMML FSX Freeware YMML X-Plane - Sydney Kingsford Smith Intl (YSSY) Payware FlyTampa YSSY Freeware YSSY FSX Freeware YSSY P3D Freeware YSSY X-Plane - Brisbane International (YBBN) Payware YBBN ORBX Direct Freeware YBBN Aussie Ants FSX/P3D Freeware YBBN X-Plane Flight Planning In Australia, flight plans are filed in the ICAO method, with the SID/STAR not included with the initial filing. This will be provided by ATC on contact with clearance delivery (for departure) and with Centre, usually just prior to initial descent clearance. In Sydney each different runway has it's own set of SID's, which can be hard to predict ahead of time. Due to this, the outbound route should start with "TESAT". TESAT is an RNAV waypoint located on the airfield, replacing the old VOR "SY" which has since been decommissioned in the real world as part of the Navigation Rationalization project which removed 179 ground-based navigation aids on the 26th of May 2016, meaning GNSS is now the primary means of navigation for all instrument flight rule aircraft and flight plans. An IFR Aircraft flying from Sydney to Melbourne will file TESAT H65 RAZZI Q29 ML regardless of the runways in use. Indeed some aircraft may well be assigned the WOL9 departure from runway 34L, and others the MARUB5 departure from runway 34R given northerly prevailing winds. Both of these departures join the H65 airway at WOL (Wollongong), however the SID tracks are very different, with one starting with a Left turn off runway 34L, and the MARUB5 departure from runway 34R starting with a Right turn. Knowledge about deleting waypoints and closing route discontinuities in your FMS will be useful. Cheats include knowing the 2nd waypoint along the initial airway. Additionally be aware that ATC is likely to ammend the text of your route when giving clearance in the same manner as the Electronic Flight Strip is used in the real world. Once you file it, it's theirs. Flight Plan Route To help with filing your flight plan, VATPAC provides the Flight Planning Tool at https://www.vatpac.org/pilots/pilot-tools/flight-planning/ Charts Additionally the real world Air Services Australia website provides charts for all airports in Australia, free of charge, on their Aerodrome and Procedure Charts website http://www.airservicesaustralia.com/aip/current/dap/AeroProcChartsTOC.htm YSSY Sydney airport ground chart, and the areas various airlines typically use. Note: International on the west (left) side and Dometic on the east (right) side, including freight. In most FSX sceneries (including default) the Domestic side gates start with the letter "D", and the international side has no alphabetic prefix. YMML Melbourne airport ground chart, and the areas various airlines typically use. YBBN Brisbane Airport, Ground chart with typical parking area's of airlines. Information for Air Traffic Controllers ATC Applications are now open for this event. You can apply Here. The amount of positions published will depend strongly upon the amount of applications. As previous trends have shown, This event attracts close to if not more than 80-100 Pilots. As such, We would love to have a large amount of controller positions rostered. Due to the length of the event, We have split the roster into two, 2 hour 30 minute periods. The positions which will be allocated first are below: If we have a large number of applications, We will additionally roster the below positions: ATC Applications for this event will close on Sunday 09/07/17 2100 AEST. The roster will be published thereafter (Currently expect to be published Monday evening). 24. Ladies and Gentleman! The Events Team is proud to present the latest major event for this year, TMA Turnaround - Sunshine Coast! What is TMA Turnaround you may ask? Well, We love having competitions featured in our events to keep everyone participating for as long as possible. With this in mind, The aim will be to fly as many sectors between the nominated airports as possible, in the 4 hour period. We will have tracking in place using VATPAC Statistics. It requires that you fly from Gate to Gate, Shutting down your engines prior to commencing the next sector. The Details We will be featuring Robert Fluke's amazing Sunshine Coast scenery as our go to/from airport. As we have received feedback about lack of major GA events, This event is fully inclusive of both GA aircraft and our Classic Jets. To split the traffic, The event will have two categories, GA and Non GA. All GA Traffic will operate between Archerfield and Sunshine Coast, While Non GA (Jets) will operate between Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast. To ensure fairness, Aircraft operating under the GA Category will need to be below 5700KG's MTOW. All other aircraft will be required to operate from Gold Coast in the Non GA Category to qualify for the event. We have planned routes for the flight to ensure traffic will be able to transition easily between the two airports. Please see the below routes for the flight. YBCG-YBSU CG Q69 SU YBSU-YBCG SU W207 SURPO W709 VIMOL W192 CG VFR Aircraft can plan as they wish. Clearances will be available to enter Controlled Airspace or you can navigate around and remain outside the Brisbane TMA. Any aircraft that don't file the route above can expect delays/holding. Due to the size of Sunshine Coast and the layout of the Airspace, It may be necessary to carry holding fuel! Before logging on, Please check which airport has less departures at the time to ensure traffic is evenly spread across the TMA. With some fantastic scenery available for Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast, We hope to see some fantastic pictures! For the Air Traffic Controllers ATC Applications are open now until 1000z Saturday 03/06/17. The roster will be released by 1200z Sunday 04/06/17. Controllers will receive a briefing and updated Local Instructions file.
