    This ANZAC Day, in collaboration with VATNZ, we invite you to fly across the Tasman as we remember those who shall not grow old, as we who are left grow old. On April 25th, fly between Auckland Airport (NZAA) and Sydney Kingsford Smith (YSSY), as we staff the ditch for 7 hours (0200-0900z), bringing our two great nations together! Routes: VATPAC and VATNZ recommend the following routes when flying between Auckland and Sydney. YSSY -> NZAA: DCT TESAT L521 LUNBI DCT AA NZAA -> YSSY: DCT MADEP N774 TESAT DCT Flying in Oceanic Airspace: Normal ATC throughout Australia (Brisbane Centre, Melbourne Centre, Sydney Approach, etc.) rely on radar to determine where an aircraft is in the air. Over the ocean, there is no radar. This non-radar airspace is controlled by oceanic ATC. All Oceanic Controlled Airspace in Australia is controlled from Brisbane, so all oceanic controllers in Australia are called "Brisbane Radio". One of the significant differences between radar and Oceanic flying is the need for position reports. Position reports are how ATC can determine where you are. Position reports contain estimates for waypoints, speeds, altitudes and any other information. Because there is no radar over the ocean, ATC relies on time-based separation and reports from the pilots. ATC has no way of determining where you are unless you specifically tell them. The standard format is: Current/Previous waypoint name and the time which you crossed that point. Current flight level. Mach number if assigned by ATC. Your next waypoint and estimate for that point. The waypoint after that. For example: "Qantas 123 is position PLUGA at time 0523, flight level 380, estimating VELKU at 0750, SASRO next." Fly from Perth Airport to Singapore Changi Airport with full ATC from 0800z-1600z on the 17th of April 2021! What is a 'Shuttle' Event? A shuttle event is where we invite pilots and controllers to fly from the defined departure airport, to the defined arrival airport with the expectation of full ATC along the way! We invite you to depart from Perth Airport (YPPH) between 0800Z-1000z on the 17th of April 2021, inbound to Singapore Changi Airport (WSSS), as we attempt to test out our talented controlling team! Below you will find the recommended route between the two airfields, as well as information for your departure and arrival! Route: VATPAC, VATSEA, Indonesia VACC and Singapore VACC recommend the following route when flying between Perth and Singapore. YPPH -> WSSS: ROUTE: PH AVNEX N752 PLB G579 REPOV SIN DEPARTURE: AVNEX3 (ALL RUNWAYS) ARRIVAL: Expect REPOV1A or REPOV1B Remember the departure slot for YPPH is between 0800z- 1000z! Departure From Perth: Pilots departing from Perth Airport (YPPH), can expect to depart from either RWY 03 or RWY 21, depending on wind direction and traffic levels. Arrival Into Singapore: Upon Arrival into Singapore Changi Airport (WSSS), pilots can expect either the REPOV1A or REPOV1B followed by a choice of RNAV, VOR, ILS, or Visual approach (Weather Permitting) into either Runways 02(L/C) or 20R. ATC will assign the approach type nominated in the ATIS, but you may request a different approach type if you are up for the challenge. We ask that you are familiar with the approach type you select.     Welcome to a special edition of VATPACs busiest weekly event, Milk Run Monday! Although this is not the last Monday of the month, we are shaking things up by adding a pilot slot booking system! Fly between Sydney Kingsford Smith International Airport (YSSY) and Melbourne Tullamarine International Airport (YMML) between 0730z-1130z with the expectation of full ATC services for the duration of the event. How does it work? It is exactly like a Normal Milk Run Monday, however; We have created slot times for pilots to book between Melbourne and Sydney to add a different element to the popular event! Booking System: To book your flight(s), please visit the booking site here. Pilots may choose more than one slot to book if their arrival or departure slot times do not overlap. Bookings will close one day prior to the event (13th December) at 1400z unless booked out prior to this date. 24 hours prior to the event commencement, you will receive a confirmation email with your finalized bookings and any additional information. Important Pilot Information - Please make sure you log in at least 20 minutes prior to slot time. - Please ensure you are using your assigned route, these routes are based on real-world, if you cannot use your assigned route please email [email protected] or converse with Delivery on the day. - Callsign and Aircraft Type are your choice!     By far our most popular of all the weekly events, on any given Monday you'll find the famous "J-Curve" between Melbourne and Sydney well serviced by both pilots and ATC. Not to be confused with out Spilled Milk Run Monday events held on the last Monday of every month, pilots can expect ATC services as you fly between Melbourne and Sydney, or any destination in between (Canberra, Albury etc). Traffic Levels usually begin to pick up around 0700z and peak between 0800-1000z. Routes: We recommend the following routes between Melbourne, Canberra and Sydney. It is time to pull out those regional aircraft or commercial airliners and explore the wine country of Australia as we attempt to provide the most realistic ATC services for you as you travel to stunning destinations that South Australia has to offer. Travel between Adelaide (YPAD), Parafield (YPPF), Port Augusta (YPAG), Port Lincoln (YPLC), Mount Gambier (YMTG) Ceduna (YCDU) and Olympic Dam (YOLD) plus many more with the expectation of full services from 0400z - 0800z. What is Light Up South Australia? This event revolves around one of our older events (Regionals and Twins) with the idea being to provide ATC services to more regional locations around the country. Our regional towns don’t get the love like the big cities do, so let's change that! Travel to those often-forgotten destinations and provide controllers and pilots alike a different challenge. A chance to fly into an unfamiliar location and try an approach other than the usual ILS approach. During this event, you will receive an Outside Control Airspace Service at a majority of our airfields from the overlying ENR Controller. Pilots can expect the following service types depending on the class of airspace. We encourage you to use Adelaide's secondary airport Parafield (YPPF) - Australia's third busiest airport by ground movements for use with shorter routes. Parafield is the home of many small aircraft which fly heaps of VFR and IFR routes around the south as well as housing operational historic aircraft!
