  1. Hi all,

As I am sure you all are aware the new senior leadership will start from the 1st October 2020 and you will no longer have a Regional Director but will have a VP who will sit on the BoG.

I have already let the staff know but I am now letting you all know that it will not be me. I did apply for one of the new positions but suffered a heart attack 3 weeks ago so decided to withdraw my application.

I would just like to thank you all for the support you gave me as your RD and for all that you do to make sure VATPAC is a success. There has been some enjoyable times and some not so enjoyable but it all came good in the end. You have a great Division which works really well so please continue doing what you all do and enjoy the network.

I wish you all well for the future and I am sure our paths will cross again in the virtual skies.

    Take care and best wishes.

  2. Hi all VATPAC members,

First of all can I thank you all for the patience you have shown during this last couple of weeks. I am now in a position to announce 2 interim appointments to the VATPAC Board. This announcement has been delayed due to me having to wait on an announcement from the BoG which can be seen here

I am pleased to inform you all that Zach Biesse-Fitton has agreed to take on the role of Division Director/Administrator and that Ray Lang has agreed to become Deputy Division Director/Administrator on an interim basis. I am grateful to both of them for stepping up and volunteering to help. They will work together to keep the Division moving forward while also putting in place a permanent board. I am excited to see what they bring to the table and would ask that you all support them in all that they do.

Zach and Ray will make further announcements as time progresses to keep you all informed of what their plans are.

Please join me in welcoming them both into Senior roles at the Division.

    Thanks

    Alan

  3. Lucas thank you for your post. It is unfortunate to loose  staff members at the one time but these things happen. As Greg has said we have been here before and survived and the Division will survive again. As Kirk also pointed out VATPAC5 resigned a while back and stayed in post for at least a month so he has lived up to his promise. All I will say on 1 and 2 resigning is that VATPAC2 told me he had been thinking about stepping down for some time and has decided this was now the best time. I am glad that Greg has now announced Harrisons resignation to the members. The reasons for their resignations is their business and not for me to broadcast to the general membership. I am sure if they want to tell you personally they will.

I do have a couple of options open to me at present but nothing confirmed. When one of these options becomes  ready the community will be informed and that is a promise from me.

Tracy is also correct in pointing out that this does not have an affect on your ability to enjoy the network by continuing to control and fly. As for your concerns about the community members come and members go. This happens for various reasons but new communities always replace them. You will notice this more with the longer you remain a member of VATSIM

Once I am in a position to make an announcement I will make a general statement to the Division but in the meantime please control, fly, work at building that new community and enjoy our network.  At the end of the day we are all here because we share a common love of aviation and enjoy filling our virtual skies.

  4. I am happy to report that the application process to appoint VATPAC's new Director Of Division has been completed. It was a hard fought contest with 2 candidates nearly impossible to separate.

It gives me great pleasure to announce that the new DD is Callum Strawbridge, I wish him well in his new appointment and I am sure the community will get behind him and support him as he works with the Board to improve VATPAC for all it's members.

I must also thank the selection panel for the work they did in trying to find the best possible candidate.

Thanks must also go to David for stepping in at a time of crisis in an acting role. He settled the Division down and has brought plenty of new structure and confidence to the board, I personally am very grateful to David for this and it will also set up Callum in a good position for moving forward. I would like to wish David well in his future endeavors.

There will now be a short transition period where David can hand over to Callum.

    Thanks

Hi Quigs yes I did enjoy CTP. Shannon was busy, so kept me out of trouble ;)

I can back up it was there - Maybe the BoG have not yet approved it and it was placed there by mistake?

Anyway - Moral of the story: DONT USE SWIFT until it appears on the approved software page

I think maybe you are correct Joshua. If I hear anything different I will of course let you all know.

  7. Richard  there has been some chat about this. SWIFT is not an approved piece of software yet. Members that use it will be in violation of CoC A7

    1. To log onto the VATSIM.net network, pilots must have downloaded and installed approved pilot client software and controllers must have downloaded and installed approved controller client software. Approved software is listed and a download link is provided on the VATSIM.net website. Each of these programs comes with operating instructions. In addition, there are many tutorials that have been developed which instruct in the use of  these programs. Since flying and providing ATC are extremely intense activities, a person should become familiar in the basic use of these programs prior to logging on to the VATSIM.net network.

The link to approved software can be found at https://www.vatsim.net/pilots/software
