  1. The following message was passed on to VATPAC:

VATSIM UK has received feedback regarding Sam Keast on SY_TWR on 27/06/19. Everything was all positive and the comment reads "Great first atc in australian airspace"

Nice one @Sam Keast ! Keep it up.

  2. Hi Tristan,

It's a good thought, although I feel that limiting the channel size could cause issues during events (for example, there are 7 controllers in one coord room right now). Making the limit too large would defeat the purpose of limiting at all. With regard to limiting to certain areas, that's fine on a tower/approach level, but what about centre controllers who need to coordinate across these major areas? I know that it would annoy me having to jump to another room if I wanted to talk to another sector. Just on that note as well, when traffic picks up, controllers will generally split themselves across coordination rooms based on their area anyway.

It should also be noted that the description of the coordination rooms says: For currently logged on ATC only. It is my hope that members follow this and restrict discussion to current operations only, but if you have any issues with people chatting in your room, I'm sure they'll move if you explain the situation to them.

    Hope all this makes sense

  3. Hi John,

As far as I'm aware, VATSIM have no requirements for what needs to be in the remarks section, so it can be confusing having pilots with all different types of information in there. When I'm controlling, I'll usually give the remarks a cursory glance when the pilot first logs on, looking for if the pilot is a newbie, what their callsign is if I haven't seen their airline code before, what the voice capability is (I think this is automatically inserted), and any other plain text info.

I'm not sure what other controllers look for, but this is the info that I find useful

  4. Hi Brendan,

Welcome to VATPAC! Whilst not being a pilot myself, I think a great place to start would be having a read through this thread here:

It provides some great info for pilots starting out. There are also some tutorials which can be found on the VATPAC website under Pilots -> Tutorials. Once you're ready to move into some more in depth stuff, head over to http://vatoce.net/training , which has courses to get your P1 & P2 pilot's ratings.

Finally, if you just want to speak to someone, come onto the VATPAC Discord sever, which you can find details for here: https://vatpac.org/community/discord/

Best of luck, and looking forward to seeing you online!
