  1. Hi all, I have noticed recently that many controllers have been using VIS CAVOK in their ATIS instead of just CAVOK. I would like to raise some awareness about this mistake.

Attached below is an image from the YMML ATIS from the Milk Run 19/12.

Here is an excerpt from MATS, stating how visibility and clouds conditions should be listed in the ATIS:

    g) [VISIBILITY [GREATER THAN or IN EXCESS OF 10 KILOMETERS] [(visibility 8 KM or greater) KILOMETERS] [(visibility less than 8 KM) METERS]] or [RUNWAY VISIBILITY (visually determined visibility along runway) METERS] or [RUNWAY VISUAL RANGE, RUNWAY (number) (touchdown RVR) (midpoint RVR) (end RVR)]

    h) (present weather, e.g. rain)

    i) [CLOUD (cloud layers below 5000 FT or highest MSA) FEW or SCATTERED or BROKEN or OVERCAST (layer base) FEET] or [VERTICAL VISIBILITY (number) FEET]

    j) (in lieu of above three items) CAVOK

This means VIS should not be included in front of CAVOK, instead the ATIS should only include CAVOK. Remember, 'cloud and visibility okay,' so imagine saying 'visibility: cloud and visbility okay.' It doesn't make sense!

I would just like to remind everyone to be cautious of this error. Thanks :)

  2. G'day all,

As some of you may know, the Majestic Q400 Pro Edition was released yesterday! I have just purchased it and want to test the new shared cockpit feature out. If someone has the Pro edition and would like to fly with me let me know as I am keen to test it out.

    Cheers,

    Wilson

  3. The only problem I had was that not all controllers were on TeamSpeak, and I had trouble coordinating as I had to message them. This caused some delays especially when coordinating certain departures. Although using TeamSpeak may not be practical for some, I would like the use of TS for co-ord to be emphasised next year.

    Thanks,

    Wilson

  4. I recommend the Q400 by Majestic Software, it's a must! Although the dash is different to jets like the 737, it is a great aircraft to fly. It is highly detailed and has a realistic flight model. It may have a steep learning curve but if you can handle any PMDG aircraft you can handle this one.

  5. The alias file is a personal preference so it's really a create your own thing.

The POF file is quite available on the sector file page. Some browsers may open the file in the browser, in which case, just right click and choose Save As...

Thanks Greg, I'll try and get the one off the website...
