We're back and proud to announce the next event for the Light Up series, Light up Tasmania! It is time to pull out those regional aircraft or commercial airliners and travel down to the apple isle of Australia as we attempt to provide the most realistic ATC services for you as you travel to stunning destinations that Tasmania has to offer. Travel between Hobart (and Cambridge), Launceston, Devonport, Strahan, St Helens, Flinders Island, Georgetown and Melbourne with the expectation of full ATC Services from 0400z - 0800z. What is Light Up Tasmania? This event revolves around one of our older events (Regionals and Twins) with the idea being to provide ATC services to more regional locations around the country. Lets be honest, our regional towns don’t get the love like the big cities do, so lets change that! Travel to those often forgotten destinations and provide controllers and pilots alike a different challenge. A challenge to fly into a unfamiliar location and try an approach other than the famous ILS approach. Because we know so many of you would love a longer flight we decided to include Melbourne in the event. We encourage you to use Hobart's second airport Cambridge YCBG for use on regional routes. Cambridge is the home of Airlines of Tasmania which fly many RPT VFR and IFR routes around Tasmania as well as doing charter tourism operations to places like Melaleuca in Tasmania's south with their fleet of Britten-Norman BN-2 Islander, C172, C206.
