This Weeks Flight on 3rd February 2021 commences a two leg island hop scenic flight in the Bahamas.
This leg departs George Town (MYEG) and arrives North Eleuthera (MYEH).
This tour created by YMA555  in response to a request following a recent Compass airlines flight to Nassau.
Scenery Suggested: As quite a few pilots are now using MSFS2020 including the co-ordinator, flights in future will be provided with links to relevant MSFS2020 scenery to enhance this new platform. It is left to the discretion of pilots whatever scenery they wish to use including other platforms.
Bahamas Scenery Mega Pack                  contains some, not all, relevant airfields
MYZ1 Hog Cay Exuma               This airfield is not in the flight plan however for pilots willing to leave a bit earlier than scheduled it is a very detailed island and airfield about 12nm to the south east of George                                                         Town  (MYEG)
The official ICAO is MYEY however MSFS2020 uses MYZ1     ALSO NOTE DO NOT USE "MYXC HOG CAY" AS IT IS A DIFFERENT AIRFIELD WITH SIMILAR NAME.

Aircraft Suggested: Any GA capable of 130kias.
Comms: Unicom 122.80 unless instructed by ATC
Flight Details: LINK                                                T&G's at pilot discretion

Communications
Australia uses CTAF (Common Traffic Advisory Frequency) for radio comms at uncontrolled airfields. Now that VATSIM has introduced AFV (Audio For VATSIM) CTAF can now be used across all VATSIM approved pilot clients. Pilots are requested to tune to the published frequency as detailed in the flight details for an event when operating in or around an aerodome to make and monitor CTAF broadcasts. Pilots should also be aware that it is a VATSIM COC (Code of Conduct) requirement that all pilots at uncontrolled airfields should monitor UNICOM (Australia 122.80). It is highly recommended that pilots ensure that at least one of their "on board" COM radios (COM 2 being the most likely) is tuned to receive UNICOM transmissions in addition to transmitting and receiving on the published CTAF frequency.
Please Note. All pilots should also be vigilant regarding the receipt of text on both UNICOM and CTAF. If it is discovered there is a pilot participating that is unable to receive voice transmissions, pilots should arrange to also broadcast via text to ensure those pilots without the benefit of voice is able to receive appropriate broadcasts. VATSIM provides an update guide for getting AFV working on each of the approved pilot clients.
Pilots also should read this post regarding the implications of using VATSIM UNICOM for CTAF. It provides some insight into potential pitfalls for the unwary when monitoring 122.80 in a CTAF environment.

Due to the plethora of simulation platforms now being used, scenery is left to the discretion of each pilot.

Welcome to the next rendition from the Light Up series, Light up Western Australia! It is time to pull out those regional aircraft or commercial airliners and explore Australia's largest state, as we attempt to provide the most realistic ATC services for you as you travel to the many stunning destinations that Western Australia has to offer.

From the bustling city of Perth to the beauty of the Kimberly, Western Australia is a spectacle of natural wonder!

What is Light Up Western Australia?
This event revolves around one of our older events (Regionals and Twins) with the idea being to provide ATC services to more regional locations around the country. Our regional towns don't get the love like the big cities do, so let's change that! Travel to those often-forgotten destinations and provide controllers and pilots alike a different challenge—a chance to fly into an unfamiliar location and try an approach other than the usual ILS approach.
During this event, you will receive an Outside Control Airspace Service at most of our airfields from the overlying ENR Controller. Pilots can expect the following service types depending on the class of airspace.

Suggested Major Routes:
Western Australia has so much to offer and explore! Whether your flight is high or low, fast or slow, there are plenty of routes to fly. Find some of our suggested routes below, bearing in mind that Pilots are more than welcome to fly other routes from other destinations!

Scenery
Due to the plethora of simulation platforms now being used, scenery is left to the discretion of each pilot.

      Communications
Australia uses CTAF (Common Traffic Advisory Frequency) for radio comms at uncontrolled airfields. During an event, Pilots are requested to broadcast intentions on the published CTAF. Pilots should also be aware that it is a VATSIM CoC (Code of Conduct) requirement that all pilots at uncontrolled airfields should monitor UNICOM on 122.800. Pilots should ensure that at least one of their radios (COM 2 being the most likely) is tuned to receive UNICOM transmissions in addition to transmitting and receiving on the published CTAF.
Pilots also should read this post regarding the implications of using VATSIM UNICOM for CTAF. It provides some insight into potential pitfalls for the unwary when monitoring 122.80 in a CTAF environment.
