This event began 04/23/18 and repeats every week on Monday for 3 occurrences

By far the most popular of our regular weekly events, on any given Milk Run Monday you'll find the famous "J-Curve" between Melbourne and Sydney well serviced by both pilots and ATC.
Not to be confused with our Spilled Milk Run Monday events, details of which can be found on the Spilled Milk Run page, the Milk Run invites you to fly in any direction between Sydney and Melbourne and all destinations in between (Canberra, Albury etc).
Prefer to control? We recommend getting in early. ATC positions on Milk Run Monday are often scarce so definitely worth being an early bird.
Traffic levels traditionally start to pick up at around 7:30pm AEST / AEDT and generally peak between 8:30pm and 9:30pm AEST / AEDT.

What is Regionals and Twins?

Taking the focus off major airports and the big jets, Regionals and Twins celebrates both Australia's vast network of inland and outback hubs and the aircraft that service them.
You'll need a prop, turbo-prop or small business jet to get in and out of most of the places visited in a Regionals and Twins event but you'll get to enjoy some spectacular scenery as you cruise along at low levels. Controllers are also taken out of their comfort zone as ATC often sees procedural positions.

This week's Details
This month we'll be focussing on Townsville. Townsville is serviced by Airnorth, Alliance, JetGO, REX, Qantaslink and all the major airlines. Townsville is a common use civilian and defence facility, sharing access with RAAF Base Townsville.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Welcome to the new and improved Australia Online! Thursdays are the new Tuesdays and with that will see the return of one of our longest running events.

This week, we want to keep you in your comfort zone. Join us up the coast between Sydney and Brisbane

Ladies and Gentlemen, VATPAC and VATUSA are proud to present the latest VATUSA Friday Night Ops - Down Under!

We have something exciting, different and possibly even challenging in store for you. Did you know that VATPAC's airspace covers a large amount of the Pacific Islands? It even covers Papua New Guinea. This FNO, join us as VATPAC fully staffs Port Moresby - AYPY (The capital of P.N.G), Cairns - YBCS, Brisbane - YBBN and Hamilton Island - YBHM (Both in Queensland, Australia). This gives you the chance to experience Class C and D airports as well as the chance to experience some absolutely stunning scenery.

Kicking off at 2300, you can choose where to depart or arrive from, what to fly and how hard our controllers will work. We recommend flying regional sized aircraft to Hamilton Island as it regularly sees the Q400, 717 and 738's, however, the choice is yours.

You can find a full pilot briefing available including charts, local procedures and scenery at our website https://fno.vatpac.org

Airports: AYPY , YBBN, YBCS , YBHM

Time: [11/05/18] 2300 - 0300Z | [12/05/18] 0900-1300 AEST

Full ATC at all airports!

ATC Applications can be submitted at https://fno.vatpac.org. Applications will close Sunday 06MAY and the roster will be published within 24 hours.

This will be a series of VFR flights around the Republic of Ireland.
Whilst not compulsory the following scenery is highly recommended.
 Orbx Ireland   https://orbxdirect.com/product/irl

Two sets of scenery if you want to see the Castles etc. Download approx 400MB from my GoogleDrive. I understand that some do not like downloading additional scenery however again these two files are recommended to increase enjoyment of the flight; you can always just remove from library after use. However do not delete until we have finished this series of flights in Ireland.
It is to be noted that I have presented the details in a different format than normal and all information required is in the attached PDF file. Link to PDF file

      Communications
Australia uses CTAF (Common Traffic Advisory Frequency) for radio comms at uncontrolled airfields. During an event, Pilots are requested to broadcast intentions on the published CTAF. Pilots should also be aware that it is a VATSIM CoC (Code of Conduct) requirement that all pilots at uncontrolled airfields should monitor UNICOM on 122.800. Pilots should ensure that at least one of their radios (COM 2 being the most likely) is tuned to receive UNICOM transmissions in addition to transmitting and receiving on the published CTAF.
Pilots also should read this post regarding the implications of using VATSIM UNICOM for CTAF. It provides some insight into potential pitfalls for the unwary when monitoring 122.80 in a CTAF environment.

This site has tutorials (see Help > Tutorials in the menu) which give an overview of flight and ATC procedures.  An example of procedures between Class C airports in a radar environment can be found here: https://vatpac.org/help/pilot-tutorials/ifr-melbourne-to-sydney/

      Routes:
We recommend using the following routes which are suitable for a jet such as an Airbus A320, Boeing 737, regional jet or business jet, or a turboprop such as a Dash-8, ATR 72, Saab 340 or King Air.

      Scenery
Due to the plethora of simulation platforms now being used, scenery is left to the discretion of each pilot.
