HELP WANTED

VATPAC is looking to establish an IT team to support our day to day operation. We need people with some very specific skillsets to support our existing systems. Ideally, to keep individual load minimal, each team member will have primary responsibility for just one system and will hopefully be able to to provide secondary backup and support to a least one other team member.

The specific areas of responsibility that we are looking to cover are:

ATC/Pilot/Assist

Any actual coding changes as required from time to time are covered. The big need is to periodically update the Assist database, in line with the sector file updates. This process is currently semi-automatic, and would suit someone methodical with good Excel type expertise.

Website (Joomla)

Content changes are handled by existing staff - each department maintains its own patch of the website. Our need here is PHP and MySQL expertise to look after Joomla patches, custom extensions, hack prevention/remedying, etc.

Forums (vBulletin)

Most admin aspects of the forums are covered by existing staff. As above, our need here is PHP and MySQL expertise to look after vBulletin patches, custom extensions, hack prevention/remedying, etc.

Training (Moodle)

This system is pretty stable. Someone with Moodle expertise to maintain things would be great.

Events (panic, kfc, etc)

Each big VATPAC event generally includes a specific set of web pages - typically with sign up options and rostering information. This role includes some web design, PHP and MySQL aspects, but actual tasks will be as varied and outlandish as the sorts of events we have had and are likely to have.

All team members will have access to a common IT Staff forum where issues can be discussed, projects established and problems solved.

If you are interested in joining the team, please email neil(at)vatpac.org, indicating the area(s) you would be prepared to help in, and your relevant background.

Regards,

Neil Brown

Guys - if you have put your hand up to this - and not received a response - it may be due to our email system - I've modified forum access to those whose details have come through to me.

Please send me a PM if you are interested - as can be seen, the IT role is a biggie and the more hands the merrier.

Thanks,

Shannon
