Rob H - 811428 Posted March 15, 2009 Share Posted March 15, 2009 To all VATPAC members, Since Friday, a number of you have reported VATSIM network instability and connectivity issues. Over the past few days a number of VATSIM servers have been periodically unavailable. Regretfully, the cause of these issues is a very sophisticated and vicious denial of service attack. The attacker has targeted key components of the VATSIM infrastructure which have in turn affected other systems such as the VATSIM website, forums and data feed. While the attack appears to be ongoing, VATSIM tech staff around the world are responding to the situation in cooperation with data centre staff and law enforcement agencies in the UK and USA. The VATSIM forum has been temporarily taken offline until a technical resolution is achieved. Occasional network instability will continue until a technical resolution is achieved. During this time, VATPAC particularly recommends usage of the OCEANIA server for all online operations within VATPAC airspace.
