Andrew C - 812404
I am very pleased to announce the launch of a new online training module for all VATPAC members preparing for their Tower Controller (formerly Student) rating. The module will be available through Moodle, VATPAC's online training system, from 1 January 2008. The Moodle system was first used for the Oceanic endorsement and has proven very successful in training and assessing prospective Oceanic controllers. Moodle guides students through each step of the training & assessment process; from understanding the assessment competencies to explaining key aviation concepts and providing small research tasks to help students consolidate their learning. Training materials include diagrams, links to real world documentation and even audio samples to help students familiarise with ?ATC speak?. All the information students need is contained in or linked from Moodle. It is a one-stop-shop for training that saves people from wasting valuable time scouring the internet for information. Assessment is divided into a multiple choice quiz that is automatically marked upon completion; and a short practical session with an assessor using the VATSIM training server. Initially, Moodle will only be available to members who do not yet have a Tower Controller (or the old Student) rating. Over time, we will open the module to all VATPAC members, regardless of their rating, in case they would like to use it as a refresher for Tower operations. If you have any queries please contact [email protected]. John Keech
Very nice work! Reminds of the Cessna Pilot Centre training program, which was very professional and helpful as I recall.
