Rob H - 811428
Join the 2006 World Flight ATC team! Monday 6th November - Sunday 12th November 2006 World Flight is a special annual event which sees several groups fly fixed-base simulators around the world in real time over seven days. It's not just event-hype when I say that this year really will be the biggest ever with two additional sites joining the one event: WF-Canada and WF-UK bringing the total number to SIX. In 2005, utilising 3 custom built TAAATS-modelled ATC workstations, we succeeded for the first time in providing continuous ATC coverage 24/7 for the duration of the event. This year, with the addition of the two simulators we are expecting about 30% more supporter traffic to be generated. To cope with the increased demand, we will be expanding our on-site ATC capability. This year ATC will be: More complete - more sectors opened to spread traffic across different frequencies More realistic - local procedures will be studied and breifed as well as using the latest airways information from our friends at Jeppesen More efficient - operation of flow control and use of custom tactical software during busy periods Last year was more of a trial of our ATC capability which only came online relatively late. This year we are getting serious by bringing on dedicated Controllers operating on a rotating roster. If you are interested in joining the ATC team based at WF HQ in Sydney, send an email to [email protected]. The event is still 7 months away but the roster will be started shortly. If you think the Commonwealth Games event was big, wait until you see the final legs of WF2006!
