This October, VATPAC welcomes you to Perth for the next rendition of the Panic Stations series! Whether you fly into Perth in a Boeing 747 from Melbourne, or a Cessna 172 from Mandurah, it doesn’t matter; all that matters is you make it on time to win the bragging rights! Western Australia awaits this rendition of Panic Stations, with expectations of a fully staffed Perth (YPPH) between 0600z – 1000z (5pm-9pm AEDT).

Event Details:

The aim of Panic Stations is  simple; get as many aircraft flying into the destination as possible with one objective. Be the first person to arrive into Perth at or after the arrival time, for your chance to score bragging rights!

Note: pilots must depart from an aerodrome more than 30 Nautical miles from Perth to be eligible to win the panic station award.

There are two touch down times for this event: 0815z & 0900z

We recommend bringing some extra holding fuel as controllers will be busy trying to accommodate the influx of pilots whilst trying to maintain separation standards.

Routes:

We recommend using the following routes when arriving into Perth from different locations around Australia. These are only a handful of the possible departure points so feel free to depart from any airfield you like.

NOTICE: Event Awards & Eligibility Information - Panic Stations Perth

Hello Everyone,

In order to ensure fairness during Panic Stations Perth, please see the below eligibility requirements for pilot awards.

Please note: One award will be given to the first aircraft to arrive after each touch down time! The two touch down times are 0815z and 0900z. These awards where generously donated by two anonymous members of the community!

Pilots:
Eligibility Requirements

  1. Must be the first aircraft to arrive (touch down) at or after the target arrival time (UTC);
  2. The winning aircraft must make a full stop landing on the active or designated runway at the target airport, having complied with the VATSIM Code of Conduct, Code of Regulations and User Agreement at all times during the event. Aircraft who conduct a go-around will not be considered the winner;
  3. Touch down times will be assessed based on the controller client display showing the aircraft to have arrived on the active runway, with an altitude equal to the airport elevation and a groundspeed suggesting that aircraft has landed;
  4. The pilot departed from an airport which was different from the target airport.
  5. The pilot is not a VATPAC Director and is not involved in the assessment process for awards;
  6. Winners will be assessed by the active event coordinators during the event.
  7. Disputes regarding the decision of awards should be directed to the VATPAC Division Director. Video Evidence will be available for the Division Director to adequately respond to any disputes.

Thank you, and may the best pilot win!

The controller roster for this weekend has been released. Please note all rostered controllers are to attend a mandatory controller briefing at 0545z on Saturday. Controllers who are available on the day for covering positions are also encouraged to attend so they are aware of planned operations on the day. All enroute controllers will also receive a briefing on working with the Flow Controller, which is great preparation for WorldFlight coming up.

The roster can be viewed here.
