The VATPAC Events Department is proud to announce another edition of one of our most popular events - Panic Stations! Whether you fly a C172, B737 or A330, if you enjoy being on time, every time, then this is the event for you!

Once again, we are putting an exciting twist on the usual event, by hosting it in a procedural environment, with two touchdown times and prizes to be won!!!! Take a scenic flight up to Alice Springs (YBAS) with an expectation to have full ATC services between 0900z and 1200z!

Event Details:
Panic Stations is a simple yet challenging event. Get as many aircraft flying to the destination as possible, with only one objective: Arrive at or after the target times, to enjoy bragging rights... Until the next panic stations event that is! 😏

VATPAC is putting another spin on this event. Unlike last time, there will be two target arrival times and prizes for the winner of each time!!

Touch Down Times for this event are 1000z & 1100z

We recommend that pilots bring extra holding fuel for this event, as we attempt to accommodate all pilots, whilst controllers attempt to maintain a larger separation standard than usual!

We look forward to seeing you all on the tarmac at Alice Springs!

Prizes:
To add yet another exciting twist to this event, the VATPAC Events team has been in contact with ORBX and are extremely happy to announce that ORBX will be providing three prizes for this event!

For Pilots: Two prizes will be on offer. To win an award, you must be the aircraft to arrive (touch down) at or just after the target arrival time. Each touchdown time has one prize that will be awarded.

For Controllers: The controller who receives the most positive feedback from the community will receive the third prize! Feel free to plug https://feedback.vatpac.org/ to the pilots transitioning your airspace!!! (Make sure to select Events Department as the Department you are writing too!)

You have to be in it to win it!!!

The following prizes are available to Pilots and Controllers:

  • Global Upgrades Collection Bundle (P3D)
  • Global openLC Collection Bundle (P3D)
  • TrueEarth Great Britain Collection Bundle (XPlane)
  • TrueEarth US Collection Bundle (XPlane)

Each winner will be able to select one of the above prizes to redeem.

If you are lucky enough to win, you will immediately be contacted by VATPAC5 to redeem your reward!

To help us choose a winning controller, we need both pilots and controllers to submit feedback at feedback.vatpac.org and (if able) include the controller's name, CID and controlling position!

NOTICE: Updated Awards Eligibility Information - Panic Stations Alice Springs

Hello Everyone,

To improve the fairness of how awards are distributed for this event, please see below the updated information for the eligibility criteria and method of selection for both Pilot & Controller awards..

Pilots:
Eligibility Requirements

  1. Must be the first aircraft to arrive (touch down) at or after the target arrival time (In UTC Time);
  2. The winning aircraft must make a full stop landing on the active or designated runway at the target airport, having complied with the VATSIM Code of Conduct, Code of Regulations and User Agreement at all times during the event. Aircraft who conduct a go-around will not be considered the winner;
  3. Touch down times will be assessed based on the controller client display showing the aircraft to have arrived on the active runway, with an altitude equal to the airport elevation and a groundspeed suggesting that aircraft has landed;
  4. The pilot departed from an airport which was different from the target airport.
  5. The pilot is not a VATPAC Director or Deputy Director, and is not involved in the assessment process for awards;
  6. Winners will be assessed by Joshua Micallef, Director of Events, and Blair Shaddock, Event Coordinator, who will be observing via a supported radar client during the event; and
  7. Disputes regarding the decision of awards should be directed to the VATPAC Division Director. Video Evidence will be available for the Division Director to adequately respond to any disputes.

VATPAC5 will contact pilots who reach all of these requirements over the network with instructions about how to redeem their reward.

To be eligible to receive an award for this event, controllers must meet all of the following:

  1. The controller is not a VATPAC Director or Deputy Director, and is not involved in the assessment process for awards;

  5. Disputes regarding the decision of awards should be directed to the VATPAC Division Director. Evidence of controllers present and eligibility criteria marks will be available to the Division Director to respond to any disputes adequately.

Eligible controllers will be assigned a random number from 1 to (number of controllers eligible.) A random draw will be conducted. The controller will be contacted with instructions about how to redeem their reward.
