 3. AIRSPACE ACTIVATION TIMING.

3.1 Training Sorties are planned to take place throughout the period of activation

 4. FLIGHT PLANNING AND ROUTE LIMITATIONS.

4.1 All waypoints inside exercise lateral boundaries will be available at and above

  • FL390 – R637
  • FL220 – R625
  • FL290 – R639, R644, R650

4.2 RA Conditional Status Legend

  • RA1: Pilots may flight plan through the restricted area and expect a clearance from ATC
  • RA2: Pilots must not flight plan through a restricted area unless on a route specified in ERSA GEN FPR, however a clearance from ATC is not assured.
  • RA3: Pilots must not flight plan through a restricted area. Clearance is unlikely and will be subject to Military activity.

5. PROCEDURES

5.1 Military pilots are present in the activated Restricted Areas (VSOA in flight plan remarks)

5.1.1 Pilots: If unable to conduct flights without transiting the Restricted Areas at or above the levels in para 4.1

  • BN-DOS_CTR active: contact Brisbane Centre on 135.6 who will coordinate with the Range Controller to arrange access – note rerouting may be required to avoid an area with RA2 or RA3 Conditional Status.
  •  BN-DOS_CTR not active: contact the Range Controller (via private message).

5.1.2 Range Controller Contact: If access is required, contact the Range Controller callsign in the following order: WGTL***, BUCK***, COLT***

5.2 Military pilots are not present in the activated Restricted Areas

5.2.1 Pilots and ATC: There are no restrictions on accessing the activated Restricted Areas.

 6. MILITARY AIRCRAFT OPERATIONS

6.1 High speed military jet & turboprop aircraft will be on random tracks without communications within all exercise airspace. Traffic information will not be provided to or about exercise aircraft operating in exercise area. (Intentions may be handed to ATC by the flight lead on a flight by flight basis)

6.2 Aircraft operating out of Amberley (YAMB) will operate on the appropriate CTAF channels when ATC is not online.

6.3 When outside CTAF areas, military aircraft will tune UNICOM until established within active restricted airspace. Upon entering active restricted airspace military aircraft will be virtually NOCOM. (See para 6.4)

6.4 Regardless of the phase of flight, military aircraft will endeavour to monitor UNICOM text (122.800) for mutual separation when ATC is offline.

6.5 The below list outlines the civil frequencies that military aircraft will operate on when outside of restricted airspace.

Location Frequency
YAMB TWR: 118.30
YAMB APP: 134.600
All Other (UNICOM)

 7. PRIORITIES

7.1 During exercise activity periods, access to the exercise airspace may not be available due to high density/high energy military operations.

7.2 Every endeavour will be made to adjust exercise activities and minimize delays to facilitate transit of civil aircraft.

 8. CANCELLATION

8.1 This NOTAM will self-cancel on 31st August 2019
