VATPAC is currently seeking applications from members for the position of Director of Operations - VATPAC4

 

Role Description:

 

 

The Operations Director is a key position responsible for ensuring that controllers are appropriately supported, encouraged and deployed to achieve maximum benefit to pilots. The Director of Operations also manages the VATPAC Document collection and is the liaison officer between VATPAC and affiliated virtual airlines and VSOA affiliates.

 

The Director of Operations is expected to:

  • Maintain controller standard operating procedures
  • Engage with and motivate ATC members to ensure the highest possible level of online coverage.
  • Designate and support preferred controller client software
  • Maintain operational ATC documentation
  • Maintain VATPAC TAAATS specification
  • Procure implementation of VATPAC TAAATS specification
  • Manage ATC deployment/rostering for events
  • Manage ?one-off-event? controller documentation
  • Liaise with Airspace Director for temporary sector files
  • Maintain ATC Operations web content
  • Liaise with current and potential new virtual airlines and VSOA organisations operating in VATPAC airspace

 

As a full-voting VATPAC Board role, the general expectations of all Directors also applies:

 

  • Contribute constructively to the ongoing development and improvement of VATPAC for all members
  • Attend periodic VATPAC Board meetings to report on operational issues
  • Maintain a regular on line presence on the VATSIM Network, controlling, flying, observing.
  • Perform VATPAC Forum moderation
  • Actively and constructively participate in Staff Forum discussions
  • Maintain a presence on the VATPAC forums, particularly in discussion pertaining to areas of responsibility within their directorship
  • Keep abreast of VATSIM news and issues impacting their directorship
  • Select an appropriate deputy

 

 

Time Commitment

It is estimated that the minimum time commitment would be in the vicinity of three hours per week.

 

The successful candidate will meet the following minimum requirements:

 

  • Have an in depth understanding of VATPAC/VATSIM issues
  • Have an in depth understanding of Airspace, policy / procedures in Australia and a strong aviation knowledge background
  • Posses very strong communication skills
  • Be a member of VATPAC
  • Be in good standing with VATSIM
  • Familiarity with VATPAC documentation structure and review cycle desirable.

Applications will be received and reviewed by an Appointment Committee consisting of:

1. The VATPAC Director of Division

2. The VATPAC Director of ATC Training

3. A General Member

and will remain in confidence to the VATPAC Board and the appointments committee. As always the VATPAC Board reserves the right to directly appoint an individual to the role.
